I use Emacs as well. As bombastic as Craig’s claim is, I drink the same Kool-Aid. Unlearning vi and learning Emacs was like learning to fly instead of crawl. I don’t use it directly for making entries anymore (I have standalone app that now) but when I was making or editing entries by hand, it saved me a ton of time. Take a day and learn it. Then take a week and use it for work. After a week or two of dedicated use, you’ll question the efficacy of Word and other WSYWIG tools.
My devops folks still ask me I install Emacs on certain servers - my response : “I don’t have all day”.
