I just found and corrected another problem.
The path setting in the ledgersmb.conf.default had a : instead of an =.
Unless you fix it, the config file won't load.
Again this is specific to 1.4.

To fix the above issue:
DELETE FROM menu_acl WHERE node_id IN (1, 21);
Those nodes shouldn't have direct acl's attached anyway.
