Can someone pls explain how there are 17 fixtures in round 3 of the Carling Cup? I'd guess a couple are left over from the previous round? God what a mess. Did we have a shot on target? The team has no idea about anything. I'll watch on Friday. I am beginning to think that SG is not up to it. Re: [LU] Tactics
Spot on, IMHO... Where they not there for the taking? We played at home. We fielded our strongest (?) side. They fielded a side with players not even making it to the team photo (or on the back row of it). I am absolutely aware that they could change shift upwards some positions if they were forced to, but we looked so little interested (or skilled) it was horrible to watch. 2nd half a real pain. They took their goals well, ok, though the deflected shot was a bit lucky (3rd goal)... We should try to defend. That is be in right positions, watch the foes, get some tackles in. We should try to run at them. Use some speed. We never started our attacks until they had 8 players in defense. Embarassing. Us loosing today, resultwise, is ok. I didn't expect us to win. But to loose 0-3 without even trying, that is simply not good enough! Is Grayson really this clueless? I'm scared. Re: [LU] Tactics
I'm a glass half full kinda guy, They have a team mixed with raw talent and world class, we have matched the best result against them by a english team this season, If we had scored from the goal line scramble after 4 minutes who knows what would have happened. No sending offs or injuries. The difference between today and Jan 2010 was that then we were unbeaten and bursting full of confidence and after the match we went on a terrible run, this time we are coming off a terrible run, so lets see what happens in the really important game this week ttfn Richard -Original Message- From: leedslist-boun...@gn.apc.org [mailto:leedslist-boun...@gn.apc.org] On Behalf Of Øystein Bjøndal Lund Sent: 20 September 2011 22:19 To: 'Wayne'; 'Leeds List' Subject: Re: [LU] Tactics Spot on, IMHO... That's horseshit Mike, the holes are in the playing staff. Massive Gradel shaped hole on the left wing tonight. We knew we needed defenders and we have loan players, no proper full backs. The problem with us is the MS. SG is a top manager working with hands tied behind his back. Re: [LU] Tactics
After a life time in shjrinkdom I made one basic observation. Don't explain a problem, describe a situation that you want improved. Don't say why something is wrong. Just say what is wrong. Then 'explain' how to best change the situation. Using that approach the situation is we are a 2nd division team. We should be a PL one. How do you change that is to get better players all playing better as a team. This means acquiring thro' youth or buying wisely. And coaching. The first means having the staff and facilities -- the Stoat's responsibility directly and indirectly. The second Grayson's. The fact that the the Malignant Stoat is an out and out festering sore does make life harder for Grayson. But the coaching abilities of Grayson are questionable if not more than that. He cannot organize a defense. He cannot inspire players to raise above themselves when playing out of position [when he has a penchant of playing them out of position]. His choice of acquisitions are on the poor side -- too many fail. His likes and dislikes are personal and highly significant. Players are existentially banished in far too greater numbers. He has few positive sides. IMO we have to ask what is the balance? It's not looking too good. But as the Stoats aims seem to be balancing the books and improving his salable asset Grayson is doing a great job. Promotion or relegation are a direct threat to Malignant Stoat's game plan. The bottom line is that football clubs are there to win games and competitions. Ambition on the field has to be burning bright. It has to be the DNA of the club. Our DNA has been suborned by the cancerous agenda of the malignant stoat. [LU] The most depressing thing about last night......
.not as a Leeds fan, so much as as a football fan: The fact that one club can keep so many quality players on their books (paying them astronomical sums no doubt), and rarely play them. Michael Owen probably earns more per week than all the 11 Leeds players. And also the other side of the coin..they have the pick of the best young players from all over the world. It all goes to show that what I have said on this list before (and been shot down in flames every time) is true: Ridsdale was right.10 years ago, the gulf between the haves and have-nots in football suddenly widened to an unbridgeable chasm. Leeds needed to get themselves on the rich side of that gap, and Ridsdale saw that and gambled. But O Leary scuppered the plan, and the rest is tragic history. On a more prosaic note, I am seriously worried about Snodgrass. With Max gone, he needed to really step up, but not only was he crap last night, his attitude was atrocious. TV watchers will have seen him telling Bromby to fack off when the latter was having a go at him for not tracking back before the first goal. And what about Bromby? He always looks OK to me, and I thought he wasn't bad last night, but Grayson doesn't seem to have any faith in him. I have serious reservations about White Nunez. The former has speed and guts, but I fear lacks quality on the ball. The latter just seems to be unreliable. He produces some good stuff, and then the next time he gets the ball he will look useless. I really like Clayton, but I hope he doesn't start thinking he is Steven Gerrard. Glad to see that Brighton are playing a tough match tonight. 4 pts from our next two away games would be great! ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org MARCHING ON TOGETHER (There's it)
