Doesn't sound right to me. With the flat rate scheme you collect the VAT at
the standard rate(s) and pay to HMRC at a rate applicable to your industry
(mine is 13.5%). The reason you don't pay the whole 20% over is to allow for
the fact that you don't claim back your input VAT (i.e. VAT

Surely that is not permitted.
I'll forgive them for it, if only because it's caused it to be played over
the tannoy at Old Trafford when the Rhinos have won there in the Grand Final
