Re: [LU] Kids football clubs

2010-11-17 Thread Tim Leslie
I did about 5 years of it, really enjoyable - especially when you
encourage a player who obviously has the ability, just not the confidence,
and then see him flourish once he's broken that barrier.
Managed two promotions and a cup final in my time, now being asked by my
lads Sunday morning team and I just can't summon up the same enthusiasm!!!
Make sure you get them playing football, no matter what results you get!

I see that Mad Mike is now running a kids football club. I run one too. Is
there anyone else on the list that does? We're in our second year and
 could
be up for tournaments or matches in exotic locations (by which I mean
 Yorkshire and not Israel ;))

I looked at your website. You're obviously way richer than us - when can you
get over to France ;)

Re: [LU] Kids football clubs

2010-11-17 Thread Simon Hart
The wife and I are in to our 3rd year of running our daughters team,
Stamford Bridge Girls Under 11s, and loving it. We were bottom of the
table in our first season and 3rd in our second. We had so many girls
wanting to play this season so we took all the youngest ones and created
another team, the older under 12 girls are currently second whilst the
younger under 11 girls are joint top. It's very satisfying to see them
develop as a team and my Nat is top scorer too.

We have one girl who is only 10 but plays for the under 12s she is so
good. All the academies want her but her parents think she is too young
for that. We were at a tournament a couple of years ago and a guy comes
over to me and introduces himself as Fred Bloggs, can't remember his
name, from Leeds United. It's a bit fucking late but about time! I
thought, but sadly it was not me he was interested in. You never know
how kids will develop but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see this kid
playing for the Ladies in 7 or 8 years time. She was scoring cracking
goals with both feet when she was 8!

Absolutely fabulous idea.

I'm sure the club would back the idea.
