Re: [LU] Satdi team?

2017-08-11 Thread nat...@sky.com
I did not say "never change a winning team" - although of course that is an
often used football cliche. I think Jansson would have been brought in whatever
had happened v BoltonAll I said was I think TC will keep with what he
presumably felt was his best available team, and that Phillips did enough to
keep his place. Again re Saiz - personally I would pick him from the start, I
think his performance on Wednesday was the best debut I have seen, and his
confidence will be sky high, but again it is TC who picks the team and from his
comments he does not think Saiz is ready for this division
If I was picking the team I would have Vieira alongside O'Kane, and would have
Alioski on the right, Saiz at 10 and probably Dallas  even though I am not a
massive fan, on the left. I would maybe pick Green (or would have done for
Bolton)

But I think that TC will only make the two changes forced on him by Berardi and
Pennington being injured- all will be revealed on saturday afternoon.

What I do know is that I am looking forward to it immensley. My wife has just
called me for watching the highlights from Wednesday for the 'tenth time' - I
really cannot get enough of it - Saiz and Alioski were just sublime at times -
for anyone who has not seen it, here is channel 5 hightlights - when you watch
it you will see why I am so giddy

and I don't think the performance against a poor Bolton was good enough to
warrant the statement that a winning team should never be changed.  You play
your best team or the best team to beat the opposition - end of.

Sorry to disappoint lads, but TC will stick with the same starting XI as at
Bolton except Pennington and Berardi are injured so will be replaced by Jansson
and Borthwick-JacksonNo chance of Green being picked and whilst i, like most
fans, think Vieira is better than Phillips I do think he did enough at Bolton
to keep his place. As for Saiz, whilst you may expect his hat trick on
Wednesday and his all round performance to warrant a place, TC's comments about
getting him ready for this league suggests otherwise.
So whilst Saiz, Bridcutt and Vieira all did their cause some good on Wednesday
I doubt they will be chosen - what it will mean is that  the likes of O'Kane,
Phillips, Roofe and Hernandez had better be on their game, because any drop in
their performance will mean they will be dropped
To be fair every single player (Pontus and Cooper excepted till Pennington is
fit) is playing for his place every game and has an able deputy just waiting
for the chance -

Wiedwald has Green behind him - Ayling and Borthwick J have Berardi, when fit,
and Anita breathing down their neck. The 2 in midfield know Vieira Bridcutt and
the highly rated Klitch are just waiting for a chance. The wingers (Roofe and
Alioski) need only look on the bench to see Sacko and Dallas chomping at the
bit. Hernandez will have watched Saiz on Wednesday and worry his own days are
numbered.
Even Wood is under some pressure from Ekuban , who scored one and laid on
another on Wednesday , so a long dry run and Wood will be dropped
For the first time in a long time we have genuine competition for places all
over the team

"Wiedwald has Green behind him"
Not sure he does Dave ! Green apparently ruled himself out through injury, TC's
interview revealing that it was a surprise to TC and almost certainly was a
case of Green spitting his dummy out. And we all thought he was the ultimate
professional. I wonder if he'll get the same stick as the Italians did when
they collectively pulled a stunt like this a few seasons ago ?

Re: [LU] Satdi team?

2017-08-11 Thread {broken-address} Richard Walker
I think some of Hernandez's home performances have been the best of the last 10
years but some of his away performances have been dire, almost like someone who
has never kicked a ball before (Viduka used to be a bit like that at times -
looked like a rugby player playing the wrong sport). His second half
performance against Bolton was encouraging though and he was unlucky not to
score but I think you've got to play a guy who has just bagged a hat-trick from
midfield on his debut even if it was against 4th division opposition.
Certainly interesting.

I Haven’t seen enough of Saiz and Alioski to know if they are “luxury” players
or would get stuck in enough.  Never been 100% convinced by Hernandez, although
I read he had one of the highest assist rates last season.  I think the safer
option is to keep him until later on in the game.  I’m not sure that he’ll take
well to being a supersub tho.
