Re: [LU] u23s - F***ing shambles
Absolute Shambles Dave. I took my 5 year old son and his mate for their first ever game with my 10 year old twins . We got there at 12.15 and the queue was from the pavilion along the Kop and beyond. We moved to the NE corner by about 10 mins in, then some lads in front sent a scout up who came back saying it'd sold out. Cheers, sons crying (literally). When we left there was still two queues going right round the ground - at least 3-4000 people. They should have opened the East stand for this one. Imagine how much money they could have made in beer and food sales? Why the fuck anyone would queue physically these days for a ticket for Derby is beyond me. Whole thing should be done online. Totally ruined what should have been a brilliant first game for the lad. He'll probably start supporting Spurs now cos he thinks Harry Kane is amazing (over my dead body) and their kit is white too so that's OK. Dave, That sort of home ground organisation also seems to sum up the LUFC coverage on LUTV for the whole season too, a f***ing shambles. Being 12,000 miles away, we really don't have much choice when our games are not covered by our local cable (Foxtel), so when we revert to LUTV we pay £5 a game to watch. Pitiful, and at times dire, is all I can say about LUTV.For an owner who allegedly owns a media empire, he needs to look in his own back yard. Diaz sitting in front of the back four Brown wide left, Gotts and Bogusz central, Stevens wide right Male constantly talking to the defence, which is good. Shackleton making good early runs down the line. Looking lively all through the half. Nice passing in the main. Bogusz split the defence for Stevens to cross in, but Watford cleared. Brown shrugged off a defender, but his shot went wide . Brown scored after 23 mins. Got ball out wide after FK outside our area sent Gotts in loads of space in the middle, came inside past a couple of defenders and slid it home. Initially thought he was a bit greedy, but he finished well. Gave ‘em 2 free headers from corners - a little worrying. Brown getting caught offside more than Alioski. Liking the look of Shackleton , Diaz, Stevens , Gotts and Bogusz . Brown a little hot and cold (had another mazy run where he should have passed/crossed but dribbled on and had his shot blocked). Like he’s trying a bit too hard. He and Oduor occasionally lost a man down our left. Most instructions from the sidelines are in Spanish for Diaz. Some good pics / video of Notts Whites after the game with all the players shaking their hands and signing their flag - Berardi really popular and loving it - some of the players look a bit surprised but it does show the spirit in the club at the momentI have seen quite a bit of the u23s on the app and they look very good footballers - it would not be a surprise to see any one of them in the first team - of course statiscally not all of them will but it is hard to work out which one(s) are not good enoughAgree with Edmonson, and if he had not been out injured I think he may have featured this season, he is a big unit, knows where the goal is, works very hard and his pace seems to have increased. He is still a teenager so plenty of time for him, but he would give us a different option if we are battering someone in the last 15 minutes or so and not getting the break through we need. Looking forward to Bolton (setting off in 5) - a real must win game - any points dropped here would be catastrophic but I bet they will not just give up and let us hammer them like they did last week !! Re: [LU] u23s
Totally agree re level of football - this was the point made by Eoghan Stokes the other week that I quoted when he left us to join a team in Ireland so he 'did not have to play fake football' any moreIt is hard to know what to do about the team below the first team- u23s has some good points but it can also slow development when they never play against experience old heads, but old style reserve football also had weaknesses, often the game was played at half pace since it was a mixture of players coming back from injury and taking it easy plus others who were totally out of favour with the manager and did not care, coupled with players trying their best to impress or youngsters trying to fight their way up the rankings The fact still remains that this season is pretty much over and therefore everything we do should be about getting things ready for next time and that should, in my opinion, include giving the best of the u23s prospects a go in the first team - a sink or swim approach, although I can understand the caution, throwing a kid into a poor team bereft of confidence could ruin their career Dave From: Richard Walker <richleed...@yahoo.co.uk> To: "nat...@sky.com" <nat...@sky.com> Cc: Leeds List <leedslist@gn.apc.org> Sent: Tuesday, 20 March 2018, 8:07 Subject: Re: [LU] u23s I watched it too and was impressed at times however it was clear that this level of football is way off championship level. ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: https://mailman.gn.apc.org/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org Find us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/leedslist/ RIP Jimmy WAC-COE
