2000 textile workers, mainly women, have been on strike at the Tyfountex
plant in Solo, Indonesia, since August last year.
There will be a benefit to raise money for their strike fund on Saturday,
June 19, from 7.30pm, at the Comrades Bar, Swanston St (next to the ETU
offices).
There will be music, comedy and speakers including:
An Indonesian student
An East Timorese representative
Solidarity activist Tom O'Lincoln, recently returned from Solo
Admission is $10 and $5 concession, with all money going to the strikers.
The event is endorsed by the Electrical Trades Union (Vic branch), the
Textile Clothing and Footwear Union (Vic branch), University Students for
East Timor, and Socialist Worker.
