Sometimes people ask me why they have to own a website in order to get
their news up on LabourStart. Often activists will have access to email
but will have no website and no web publishing skills.

Today, I'm pleased to announce a solution to these problems - the Labour
News Network (LNN), sponsored by LabourStart.

LNN allows activists to post their own news stories, uncensored,
unmoderated, on the LabourStart website. Selected news stories will be
linked to the main LabourStart page. But ALL news stories will be
viewable -- click here to see them:

http://www.labourstart.org/cgi-bin/lnn/db.cgi?db=default&uid=default&view_records=1&ID=*&brief=1&sb=2&so=descend

Anyone can become an LNN correspondent. You'll need a user ID and
password, but you create these yourself at this address:

http://www.labourstart.org/cgi-bin/lnn/db.cgi?signup_form=1

Once you've created a user ID and password for yourself, you can add,
modify and delete your own news stories (but no one elses). You can
include HTML code in your stories, including headlines and links.

This does not effect the work of existing LabourStart correspondents who
still provide the daily news links which feature on the LabourStart home
page.

Obviously, news stories will have to be about the labour movement, will
have to be true, not slanderous, and not sexist or racist. They must NOT
duplicate material which is already available on the web -- in those
cases, submit a link by email or offer to become a LabourStart
correspondent.

Submissions which do not conform to this minimum standard will be
deleted from the database and correspondents who have submitted them
will be blocked from making further submissions.

I look forward to receiving your comments on this new service which I
think will enliven LabourStart and allow rank-and-file activists as well
as those in developing countries to play a more active role than in the
past.
