Around 1100 workers at the Glenbrook steel mill, 58-km south-west of
Auckland, New Zealand are on strike.

A spokesperson for the Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union, which
represents around 1,000 of the mill-workers, said slow progress was being
made in the pay negotiations with mill management.

The workers did not to have a pay rise last year as the mill was not
performing well, however the union said the company has this year recorded
a record profit of about $56m after tax.
