I take a pair of Vise-Grip pliers and give the dowel a few "squeezes". Then, if the fit is too tight give it a few more. Don't squeeze all the way to one end; leave the last 1/4" untouched so it looks good in its hole. I don't normally have to do this because I have a fair number of dowels that
I have no idea what any of these items are worth and, what, as a model 1200
owner I need most. My thought was that I needed a .25 reduction gear set but
that was just from watching some videos on usage and the guy mentioned he was
changing to the reduction set in order to do a certain process.

When I made dowels once on the legacy after turning them to size I used a
pointed bit and cut little flutes along it for the glue
