Hi Roxanne,
What is the actual name of the file that you're having problems with?
Are there any spaces or odd characters (ie, not a letter or number)? I
can't see the file name in your previous post. Some characters
shouldn't be used in file names because they cause problems in some

Have checked the suffix, deleted the photo, rechecked
the suffix as I downloaded again. Oddly enough,
downloading a totally unrelated cemetery image from
the same website results in my being able to find THAT
one, no problem. Could there be a problem with the two
pictures themselves?

Have closed Legacy and reopened twice, and still no
luck. It shows only the pictures that were there
before I downloaded the one tonight.

Nancy,
Thanks. That is what I did for some of my

right.

Hi Rich,
Can't see how that is a solution.
I want a list of the ones that definitely are not in my file - which
is what I understand Graeme wants as well.
Not a list that includes what we both have and misses out people who
are completely different to anyone I have.

Go to Find duplicates, Merge Options, make the
parameters as vague as possible, like birthdates
within 50 years or 100 years. It will obviously have
way too many matches, but will give you the
not-obvious choices. You might work with increasing
the values by small changes.
Good Luck

I just added several small families to a large database. I chose to do
manual merge by going down the name list and noting duplicates. I select one
of the duplicates to view in family screen, select with one of the
duplicates highlighted. Manual merge brings up the screen, I duplicates> an

Hi ,
I downloaded a picture of a relative's burial site
from the Internet. (My cemetery pics go into a Legacy
file called, "Pictures", in a subfolder called
"Cemetery_Wolfe".) I then clicked on the plus sign by
the burial info on my relative's Individual Info page,
then "Burial Address". Then clicked on
Thank you all for your thoughts & suggestions on this topic. I have decided
it is best to keep one file, I had tried to over complicate this several

Hi Graeme,
That's a really common problem - and I don't really understand why it
hasn't been solved.
Legacy compare doesn't.
I expected Mudcreek's GenMatcher to provide this - but again, it only
shows those who are likely to be common in the files, not those who
are different.

The Legacy Ancestor and Pedigree Charts both give these numbers. Just
run them from the same starting person.
No need to set relationships first to this person though, of course,
you may want to anyway.

Thanks, that I did not do. I saw the button but was
not familiar with it's use. I guess I could have tried

When I enter the location in the burial field, I add the cemetery name and
address as the burial address and put the plot location (if known) in burial

will show up the same for everyone you use that address for. I use the no

You might try taking a look at several known matches and noting any
differences, such as a missing birth date when spouse, children, and
parents match. Then click on "tools", "merge", and "find duplicates".
A window with various options will open. You can choose to include
blank birthdates a

I just suggested this to Legacy as an upgrade/enhancement. Just like you can

I am not sure, but you may need to open Tree Finder to
locate the new ones. I just hit Searching for new
trees, and it started counting. It showed in my files,
only show the first thousand trees, which shows how
many unconnecteds I have there.

Since you used the drag & drop, I assume the file you received is in Legacy.
Open that file, then assign a tag to EITHER all that you DID merge OR all
that you DID NOT merge (not both). Then you can easily do a search listing and
print the report for what you want.

Hi Cheryl,
My preference FWIW is to have separate maternal and paternal files. This is
only because I find it easier when making my webpages and ebook and creating a
Tree chart. It doesn't become too unweildy. :-)
I also have a merged file with everyone on board.
So 3 files does it for me b
