Since I have heard that Legacy and Access are intertwined, is there any data
written out that explains the columnar headings and their uses within the
various Access reports. I am particularly interested in the correlation of the
numbers noted in the columnar headings of 'SrcDetail',

I don't know of anything public that goes into this detail.
I created a list of the various Legacy tables and
I have a similar problem to Elizabeth and need help please,
I did a backup on my desktop with XP and Legacy 6 with all of my family
files on a DVD.
I loaded the files into my laptop with Vista and Legacy 7. It seems
everything is there except the notes that I made for some people.. Do I

Individual 1 in window 2? My objective is to be able to view the notes
Simple answer: Yes. When you use SplitView, simply don't select a different
family file.
Better yet, make a copy of your family file, then open that one as a second
file, but do all of your editing in the original. If you run into a
problem you won't lose anything.

You could copy the notes for the individual to Notepad and then edit the
sources with that information displayed in Notepad.
In Legacy, select the individual and open the Notes.
In Windows click Start - Run, then type
notepad
in the box and click OK.
Back to Legacy, select and copy the desired
Janet,
Your question is very vague and I wonder if you could be more specific. Windows
and Vista operate quite differently and store data in different places. When
you installed Legacy7 from the Web on your Vista machine, did you follow the
instructions for Legacy?
You say: I did a backup
When I used to use Access at work, I printed a partial list of field names and
the 'long' versions for them. It is in the bottom of my file cabinet, since the
computer I created it on is long gone to the dump, I will try to find it. I am
curious about the reasons for 'explains the columnar
Ron,
Sorry to be so vague, maybe it is because I don't know what I am doing!
When I installed Legacy 7 on my Vista laptop, I used my Legacy 7 Disk. I
have Legacy Deluxe.
On my desktop, I backed up each family file onto a DVD. I just opened
each family file and chose Backup Family File.
Then

I do an easy work-around. I copy the notes and paste them into a word
processor, such as notepad, then I can view them and copy as needed into the
OK Janet, let's take this slowly.
The first thing which I would like you to check is the location where you have
Legacy7 installed on your laptop. It is possible that Vista installed it in the
Program files, and if so it will not work properly. So would you let me know
whether your Legacy

Great.
Open the Data folder in C:\Legacy\Data and you should find your .fdb files and
your FileName.zip backup files. If not please come back to us.
Update Legacy to the latest version, and check that your delux option is

I think I'm pretty much doing it as you do.

If you do the rename in the Picture Center within Legacy, all links to
that file should be updated.
If you do the rename outside of Legacy, you would need to relink every
occurrence.
Hope this helps.

In what I viewed as trying to be helpful I fired off a quick note to an

OK Janet,
You said that you have your original files on DVD. You need to insert the DVD
into the slot on the laptop and the content folders should be displayed. Open

Click the Windows key on your keyboard, then open Drive C, Legacy, and Data, as
before. Arrange the two

To me Janis is doing what the standard is; the name of the woman, if the
married and maiden name are used, is first name (maiden name) married name.
But what Randolph was being told is that the order is first name, married name,
maiden name. That is very strange indeed and I would not want it
I've only seen the maiden name follow the maried name when it is expressed
thusly:
Mrs. Mary Jane Williams-Smythe (nee Hawley-Silverston), wife since 2007 of
George Percy Williams-Smythe, gave birth to a son, Percy Hawley, on 21 April,

I much perfer that to Mrs. Mary Jane

I opened the DVD and there are compressed files there only, zip files. Now
