Leo,
I'm not so sure about that. One of the things to keep in mind is not only the
file size, but related to it is the time it takes to upload onto the site.
Pam's back-up was 44MB and she tells me it took 20 minutes to upload to Sky
Drive. For those who don't know, uploading takes an awful
There are all kinds of online backup services, the two most popular
charging about $50/year for unlimited space. Not to say that Legacy
'couldn't' get into the backup biz themselves but they'd probably have
to charge for it too.

Thanks Ron, I didn't think that it could be done for files larger then 50MB. It
would be great if the Legacy team could setup a secure site where only Legacy
users could safely store their data & multimedia files.

Leo,
Yes, there have been many discussions regarding other on-line storage
facilities, but apart from saying that any particular one is available I do not
think that the details of how to use them should be on this list.
However, to answer your point, I am afraid I am not able to advise on h
Hi Ron,there may be some who would say that SkyDrive is off topic, but there
has been loads of discussion of other forms of backing up our Legacy files,
USBs, disks, external drives, etc.
I think that this is a topic that should be discussed on-list.
I have SkyDrive but had never used it until I

Ron & Pam,
MSN is my ISP I would like to know about backing Legacy to skydrive. I
received a notice that part of subscribing to MSN was a free backup site. I
didn't understand what this involved.
Thank you,

Ron,
Could you please tell me how you back up to skydrive. I save my backup to the
desktop then drag and drop on the skydrive page, but I can never get the
multimedia file to go there. I know I'm not doing something right, but can't
figure out what.

Whups, I wasn't clear. I said:

Did you set the appropriate option in the report to use event sentences?

Does anyone know if it's possible to re-arrange the order that event details
appear in the Ancestor Book Report?
For example, when I enter an address in 'residence', I put the house and
street names in the details box, then the date, then the town and country,

Jennifer,
Yes, you really should. As you said Mozy was your *extra* back-up, you are now
back to having only one. So, if Mozy goes down or shuts down you have no
back-up.
I use the Legacy back-up at least once pere day, USB stick once per week and
MSN Sky Drive once per month.

Mary,
This is basically the problem which I referred to last night - ie that not all
browsers read 1252 correctly. Some interpret it as unicode and others as
Western European 1089, and maybe other codings. This obviously affects ISP
hosts as well.
There is little that one can do about it, g
