Just curious. Have you made use of the "Suggest a new feature" on the home
tab? It would seem to me that if enough people suggested this then it would

Ron,
I agree the wildcard could be an additional feature, but a wild card
search for the name Querido, which is the one I was looking for, would
never turn up either Kerido or Crudo. However, those two names with
similar birth dates stood out when the index was sorted on birth date

Mary,
If you look carefully at the Calendar List, you will see that, within each
date, the names are sorted by birth year.

I guess I did not express myself too well, the wildcard was suggested as an

I raised this question again because I think it is important and is a
strong feature if understood and used properly. With all due respect,

Unfortunately, there is no sort order within each birth date, so it's
near-impossible to spot matches in a large data set.

Jo,
I also use GenViewer and concur with your remarks. I was however, concentrating
my remarks on Legacy itself. At present with Genviewer I am doing a multiple

Chuck,
We have had this discussion before, and I wonder why you have raised it agin.
There is, as you know, a way of putting in an enhancement request on the Legacy

For me, I would not wish to use this facility, and it would, therefore be
program bloat. BTW, you did not indicat
CE,
Secondary sorting in the index does not sort the DB by birth date. It
sorts on names (or RIN) first. I would like to see sorting on birth
date completely independent of the name. Take a look at Rebecca's
example. Sorting the index on another field should not pose a problem
for the programmers.
Ron,
Why wouldn't you want the program to detect a possible duplicate when
the name is entered? It could be a great time-saver and its use
optional. As to the Search>Find option, I think we had this
discussion once before. It does work in a round-about sort of way but

Excellent example, Rebecca. Anyone who has ever used FTM can

So you want to be able to sort everyone in your whole DB by birth date?
Take advantage of Legacy's secondary sorting in the Index. Those with the
same name are sorted by - no birth date, "abt, bef," date, exact date.
Legacy stands apart in its capacity and facility with alternate names, which

I see what Chuck would like to do, as would I. In index view, you can list
everyone by RIN, First name or surname. There are five other fields that
could be sorted as simply as the RIN, First name and Surname sorts. I can't
think, at the moment, why I would want to sort locations or sex on this
Ron,
I have to agree with Chick. If you had ever used FTM you would realize how
great time saving features those are.
The duplicate feature was really great and with a family who reuses the same
names over and over again, I have to always check carefully.

On just about every screen there is a Help button, often on the bottom right.
These give a context help for the screen which you are on, and describe the
