One thing you may not be aware of is that you can copy your training
CDs directly to your hard drive and run them from there.
What I did was to create a directory called Video Training and under
that created a directory for each CD with the name, such as CD 1 -
Legacy for Beginners. Then I just

Not exactly a favourite feature, but something well worth pointing out
to the new users of Legacy is the Tutorial included in the Help system.
This takes you through everything you need to know to get up
My fav are the searches and tags. My 2nd fav are the event clipboard and
the source clipboards.

Hi Angela,
Here's what I'd try.
Under Family view, go to the individual that you had previously
attached the source to.
In with the icons below their name and data there should be one that
looks like a stack of books -- and if you hold your mouse over it should
say Show list of Assigned Sources.
Okay, I think I am still making this way harder than I think it should
be...
I am trying to have one source/source detail about a census record applied
to multiple family members.

You can now add a duplicate event (including the same source details)
to Individual 2 with a minimum of mouse clicks. Click the Add event
button on the Individual's Information screen, then, on the Add Event
screen, click on the blue '-' button to the left of the event details,
Another favorite of mine is the Tree Finder (View Tree Finder [Refresh]).
It's an excellent way to check for those individuals that you might have
accidentally unlinked from your main tree.

Two Legacy features that I especially like are:
#1. Family View: If the *highlighted* individual has siblings, it is
easy to rotate through the brothers/sisters by merely left-clicking
on the adjacent thin *vertical* space in the *middle* of the Family View.

Thanks for that. I knew about rotating through siblings but somehow I had
missed the trick about rotating through spouses. That's very handy.

Wow, I got confused and I use the source clipboard all the time.
Here's step-by-step.
1. Open a new event and name it. I generally use Residence instead of
Census, but that's just a personal choice.
2. To the left of the description you will see a blue triangle. Click
on it. This will open the

Wondering if someone could help me. A cousin sent me a GEDCOM file from
his Family tree maker , from FTW file. When I try to import into my
Legacy 7 system, it analyzes all 2,000 entries, but when I push the import
button it only loads one entry. What gives. I've tried it several times
OK, just thought that I'd chime in here and list some of my favorite
features. I like how this thread is going and certainly hope that the
programmers are aware of what we are all listing. In other words, if the
public likes it and it ain't broke, please don't fix it.

Besides the rotating through spouses (and thanks, I didn't know about the
rotating through siblings!) I love the view 1/2 kids. In Family view -
right-click on a child (any), and then from the menu that comes up, select
Vies - Show 1/2 kids. You will now see any kids that have one parent

What I really love about Legacy is. What I don't like about Legacy
is (or I really wish Legacy could do this. - so that people
would see both at once, and not get thinking it was a bad programmer.
