Dennis, no I hadn't searched the archives. Good idea. I did so, and found
that there was no resolution to the problem other than that Fred Trail
submitted a bug

I always install 'updates' on top of old versions. Don't stop in the middle.
Sometimes it looks like it is sleeping.

You can't do that on a Vista computer. It protects the Windows System
files
from changes by the user.
