I did a search but couldn't find this. I'd like to do a report (without
notes, etc) that just shows my 5th great-grandfather to me. This isn't a
direct line and if I make a chart it is 117 pages. I would just like to put
in his name and put in mine and have it come up.
5th ggf - 5th ggm
Try using the Charting program in Legacy and just do the fathers only
line with you as the starting person. You can select as many
generations as you want. 5 generations should fit on 1 page easily.

I often find answers with Google when I can not find them with Legacy's
Help. No help menu will have all the right words in their list. We all
think differently!

Your 5th GGrandfather is one of your direct ancestors so he should be on
your direct line.
Go to Tools Relationship to open the relationship calculator
Choose yourself on the left and him on the right
It should show him as your 5th GGrandfather if you have already set
relationships with yourself
Dale and Wendy and others,
I chose not to import a Gedcom of my TMG data base into Legacy for a couple
of reasons. Firstly, when I began using TMG, I did not know what I was
doing and consequently a lot of what I entered was pretty messy - so by
reentering each individual I could clean up those
Kathy,
The Relationship Calculator can create simple charts. To get what I think
you’re asking about, you first would set the relationships by using you as the
focus person. Go to Tools set relationships with you as the focus person.
Then you use the Relationship Calculator to get the
I've turned on the RIN's on pedigree family view, but I don't see MRIN's on
family view.
I looked around in Customize near where I turned on the RIN's.
I've looked in Help for MRIN, Display, and Family View.
Can anyone help me with this?
I don't remember if I could see MRIN's in family view in
Maybe you should just use the back space key, it works very well for
tidying entries.

For all that will be, yes.

One of the things I like to include in descendant reports is a map showing
the locations of the __ surname at the present time.
I've been attaching it as an event to the earliest ancestor of that name --
or sometimes I may use it as an illustration on the title page.
I'm wondering if anyone else
I have had reports from customers who googled for bug fixes and they
got bad info. I don't recommend it.
There is a Search tab in the Help file that can be useful if you
search on an uncommon word.
We're more than happy to take suggestions for indexing words - just
send them in on a Suggestion
Legacy has never included the MRIN as part of the marriage information
bar below the couple in Family view. When you have the display of RINs
turned on the MRIN is shown on the title bar of the marriage
details/edit screen.
We are happy to consider suggestions for new features.

Hi Boyd,
I haven't seen it and can't reproduce it but I'm not sure I fully
understand what you are doing.
You are talking about Source Details?
Are you working on the Source Clipboard at the time?
Are you using a Basic Source or a SourceWriter source when it happens?
More importantly, how are
Hi Paula,
I don't think you are missing anything.
I suggest you put in a suggestion to add the Vital Event Notes to the
options in the Name List/Search List Print options.
I expected to find them there but can't see them.

Thought this info might be helpful for someone since there has been some
discussion on this issue.
The *Legacy Help System *uses the standard Microsoft help menu so it should
be familiar to most users. There are several ways to access it in Legacy.

All your instructions worked great! Thanks so much for your help.
Jenny - sorry, I was thinking just of father's mother's last name as the
direct ancestors (even though I knew he was one of my 5th
great-grandfathers)
Again - thanks all!

Is there any way to sort the entire database by, e.g., date of birth??
Thanks,
