I have been using Legacy Family Tree since version 4 and I have been a
subscriber to the legacyusergroup for a long time. I enjoy reading the
Legacyusergroup emails, which I sometimes find useful.
I looked at the LUG FB a little, but did not find it useful and have not
looked at it recently.

Don't hold your breath. Before acquisition bu Heritage, Legacy was much more
responsive, but seldom many years long problems are still awaiting fixes. It is
why many early Legacy users have not upgraded to the incredibly bug-ridden and
ridiculous Legacy 8 and then Legacy 9. Those trying to produ
I am so very, very glad you have no deadlines for producing reports for people.
The fixes that Legacy promises often take many years to appear, and several
have not at all.

Do we really need an explanation of specific cause? I think that it is
often the case with software undergoing updates/upgrades that fixing one
thing can cause something else to "break". This is not something unique to
Legacy. I used to work for a large Australian government department and

Brian,
Thks for the article. However, I already did that. I id try to copy the
tree into a new file and that seemed to eliminate the problem.
I still do not know what the error was or why it started. At his point, I
will simply thank you and continue with the newly created copy.

And when will the next update be to fix the family group report? Do we get an
explanation how it happened in the first place?

It occurs when I start Legacy, before it shows the first record.
It occurs whenever I select a family member and before it shows the record.
I have run 'check repair' and checked 'RIN numbering'.
I have a single file.

Since you gave us no context on what you were doing when you received
this error it is impossible to figure out why you may have gotten the
message let alone how to find the error record which the error message
says does not exist anyway.
I do suggest you run File Maintenance > Check Repair si
While a forum is good for all the reasons stated, I think the restriction on
pictures/images/attachments to email posts in the current list is a major
limitation – purportedly because some people have limited
bandwidth/quota/allowance with their internet contract.

Hello Chris,
Please forgive me but did I miss a notification stating that ownership of the

I am wondering what the subject msg really means. I have attempted to
locate the record in error and can not find anything.
I though it was referring to a RIN. However, there is no RIN above 285. I
have manually looked at the Person list and not luck.
Anyone have an idea on how to find the error
What Legacy and Millennia should be building is a single forum styled

with linked posts.

Sadly, I know people who will not communicate outside of FB. My
step-daughter is one and she has so many "friends" it's hard to wade

HI Sherry,
Exactly how I interpreted your "shouting" - stressing your message. I have
been "dragged, yelling and screaming" to Facebook for other reasons but
will not use it for Legacy information. I know this means I may miss out on
some information, but that is my decision and I'm not going to c

Some of us are very old and hard of hearing. So often the caps are
required to get the message in.
Its is actually quite civil on this list. A few grunts and groans don't
really hurt.
BTW Legacy is Old as well, Not as old as me, but old enough to have some
minor quirks.

Be aware that many people still use plain text when emailing. Their only option
is to use caps for emphasis.
Only HTML allows bolding, underlining, etc. For many years, this list did not
allow HTML. Only after HTML became the choice of most emailers were capital
letters classified as shouting.
Carrie, Do you have children? Sometimes, after saying the same thing 2
or 3 times, it's easy to get irritated with them and you need to speak
louder (call it yelling if you wish, but I had no way of emphasizing
my words here other than in all caps).
The people I responded to were NOT (not yelling.
In the current build the FGR is broken. Trying to print one will result
in one of three problems:

as the spouse of the previous child.

I have not seen this problem in the past. When I print a family group
sheet for a family the 2nd, 4th and 6th children become the spouses of
the 1st, 3rd and 5th children. Can someone help me - I would surely
appreciate it.

I also don't think its hard to be polite, watch the tone of messages, if you
want people to go to the effort of posting in 2 places.
There is also no need to 'SHOUT in these messages, Manners go a lot further.
