distinction if married or not.
If legally married, then there is a date for marriage,

There is a Not Married check box in Marriage information section. I
just put the name in as a Spouse and then check off the no record of
Marriage.

Considering this was normal behavior for kings, peers, and many other people in
the past, I would check "not married" and add a note that she was a mistress,
which is what they used to be called.
