Re: [LegacyUG] Individual's Information - Events/Facts column tab positions.

2016-10-27 Thread Cathy Pinner

Solution to column width problems.

Save different combinations of customised columns.
Right click on a column header and choose one of your saved options

You'll find the column widths as you saved them.

I have the same issue in the Index report. I have to resize the

Re: [LegacyUG] Programme is slow when changing screens

2016-10-27 Thread June
Thanks for that Linda. I had to go into the ‘Change Potential Problem Settings’
box and remove each check mark from each box and then yes – it ‘zips right
along’

Thank you so much. Do hope all the other people with the problem try this.
It’s not a permanent fix but as you can say I can turn it on if I want to use
it.

Thanks again. - June

If you turn off (click the box to remove the check mark) the Potential Problem
(Options> Customize> View> 8.11) you will find the Legacy program really zips
right along. Then turn it on when you want to use the Potential Problem option.

Re: [LegacyUG] Individual's Information - Events/Facts column tab positions.

2016-10-27 Thread Linda Greethurst
Dean,
When you are finished resizing the columns in the Index view to the way you
want them, go to Options (top right hand corner) and select Customize
Columns. On the next screen, you will see on the right the boxes Load and
Save. Click on the Save; another box pops up, highlight an empty number
and at the bottom call this something like " Basic". Keep the name short
and sweet. That has held my resizing issues. You can save up to 10
different versions for your Index for example just show birth, baptism and
location; or just marriage and spouses, etc. and you can then quickly LOAD
them without havving to do all the resizing again. By the way, this works
on the Descendant view too. The key is Options, then Customize Colums,
then save or load.
Hope this helps.

Re: [LegacyUG] Adding newspaper articles about a murder trial - Getting Event Date out of Range warnings

2016-10-27 Thread Trevor Carlson
Go to your Master Event Definitions List. Select the event you are using (I
assume Newspaper Article, if you created a new one), and click 'Edit'. Check
the 'Exclude from Potential Problems report' and then save.

All persons with that particular event will no longer show up as a potential
problem. If you look at 'Obituary', you can see it is already like that
because it will always happen after death.

Thank you,
Trevor Carlson

Known providers for free email accounts whose emails do not require this

That option is for everyone (it will turn off the warnings for all people in
the file), no?
I just want to resolve the issue for this one ancestor, since it seems based on
the warning box message it should work for one ancestor when it appears to not
work consistently.

The original message to the list is in the attachment.

This action is required because of the DMARC Reject/Quarantine Policy
imposed by some email providers. Users who want to send messages
without conversion to attachments should use a different email address
for their subscription.

Known providers for free email accounts whose emails do not require
this conversion include gmail.com and hotmail.com. Many other email
providers will also work but you will have to give them a try.

Since downloading the last update my legacy programme is very slow to open,
and moving from screen to screen or within screens is also very slow.

No other programmes on my computer have this delay and I am wondering if
there is anything I can check that might help.

I have version 8.0.0.566 in Deluxe version.

Thank you - June

Support is aware of the problem for 'some' users. No date as to when it
will be fixed.

I reported this a few weeks ago.

Back up the Family File (File > Backup File), then run File > File
Maintenance > Check/Repair. Fix any errors that crop up and run it
again. Then run File > File Maintenance > Compact Family File to
"tighten" up the file some
