I don't seem to be able to get the parameters correct. Instead of
getting the ancestor with no parents, I get several of that line. I
also get people who were too old to be in the 1790 census, even though I
have specified that census in the choice box.

me a list of those who have not noted as found in the census. What a
great tool! I can almost work it out to use to get a list of all my
direct ancestors who have not been found in the census, but I can't

First make a search list of your direct ancestors.
Search - Miscellaneous Tab - Focus Group.
Make sure you are set as the Current Individual
Click the Edit Focus Group button
Clear List if necessary and then add individual and ancestors using
the Direct Line Ancestors and check any
I cant seem to get the census report to italicize those that I already have.
I have checked the box for Italicize, but the ones I already have are not
showing in the report and that is for all the census years. The exclude
boxes are unchecked. What am I doing wrong?

You are not doing anything wrong. The exclusion of people who should be
italicized is a known problem. It has been fixed and will be working in
the next update to Legacy
