Subject: [OSM-newbies] Attribution

Hi all,
Quick question if anyone is able to help me!

I'm currently working on a project to gather postcode address information,
to effectively create a free, open version of the Royal Mail PAF file.
The dataset we are gathering is currently public domain, although this may
be changing to CCBYSA or the Open Database Licence.

Since there is a wealth of postcode/address data available within the OSM
dataset, I would like to incorporate it into the address data we are
collecting. Obviously, since the OSM data is currently CCBYSA, if we do
parse the relevant data from the dataset, it needs attribution. I am not
sure what constitures attribution though, is it enough to include the source
as Open Street Map on all imported records, or does it require more than
just saying that the data came from OSM?

Finally, the project aims also include a query API to allow third party
sites to send a postcode and get a street address in return. If a street
address is queried that originated from the OSM dataset, does the returned
data need to inlude the source or other attribution data?

Many thanks,
Chris Brierley
