Okay, I ran into another error while compiling the gettext-0.17
package. Here is the last compile entry with the error:
gcc -std=gnu99 -g -O2 -o .libs/xgettext xgettext-xgettext.o xgettext-x-c.o
xgettext-x-po.o xgettext-x-sh.o xgettext-x-python.o xgettext-x-lisp.o
xgettext-x-elisp.o

Thanks all for the suggestions.
I went back and re-compiled ncurses making sure it went without error
then re-compiled util-linux-ng-2.14.1 and this time it looks like it
went ok, no errors. Did the stripping and backed up tools/ dir.
Changed owner to root and now ready for building LFS.
