[lfs-support] Is it normal that I obtained a lot of error messages while building glibc-2.16.0?
Hi, all: I noticed on http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/view/development/chapter06/glibc.html , I may meet some building errors while building glibc. I obtained the following errors. I just wonder if as mentioned on the above page, can I just ignore all the following error messages?? Thanks make[1]: Target `check' not remade because of errors. make[1]: Leaving directory `/sources/glibc-2.16.0' make: *** [check] Error 2 root:/sources/glibc-build-2# grep Error glibc-check-log make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/posix/bug-getopt2.out] Error 1 make[2]: [/sources/glibc-build-2/posix/annexc.out] Error 1 (ignored) make[1]: *** [posix/tests] Error 2 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-cancel24] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-cancelx4] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-cancelx5] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-cancelx8] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-cancelx9] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-cancelx10] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-cancelx11] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-cancelx12] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-cancelx13] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-cancelx14] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-cancelx15] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-cancelx16] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-cancelx17] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-cancelx18] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-cancelx20] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-cancelx21] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-cleanupx0] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-cleanupx1] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-cleanupx3] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-cleanupx4] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-oncex3] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/nptl/tst-oncex4] Error 1 make[1]: *** [nptl/tests] Error 2 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/rt/tst-cpuclock2.out] Error 1 make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build-2/rt/tst-mqueue8x] Error 1 make[1]: *** [rt/tests] Error 2 make[2]: [/sources/glibc-build-2/conform/run-conformtest.out] Error 1 (ignored) make: *** [check] Error 2 cheers -- Pei JIA Email: jp4w...@gmail.com cell:+1 604-362-5816 Welcome to Vision Open http://www.visionopen.com -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/lfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page

Re: [lfs-support] Is it normal that I obtained a lot of error messages while building glibc-2.16.0?
Oh, hi, Chris, thank you for your prompt reply. I just restart / rebuild LFS from the scratch again. So, this question has nothing to do with the former one... The above question about gllibc build is what I obtained after I finished *Preparing for the building*. That's the outcome I obtained when proceeding to chapter 6, while building Glibc-2.16.0 .. In addition, now, I proceed to chapter 6, Binutils-2.23.1; and now I obtained the following error messages while run the command line *make -k check* *make[5]: *** [check-DEJAGNU] Error 1* *make[5]: Leaving directory `/sources/binutils-build/ld'* *make[4]: *** [check-am] Error 2* *make[4]: Leaving directory `/sources/binutils-build/ld'* *make[3]: *** [check-recursive] Error 1* *make[3]: Leaving directory `/sources/binutils-build/ld'* *make[2]: *** [check] Error 2* *make[2]: Leaving directory `/sources/binutils-build/ld'* *make[1]: *** [check-ld] Error 2* *make[2]: Entering directory `/sources/binutils-build/libiberty'* *make[3]: Entering directory `/sources/binutils-build/libiberty/testsuite'* *./test-demangle ../../../binutils-2.23.1/libiberty/testsuite/demangle-expected* *./test-demangle: 876 tests, 0 failures* *./test-pexecute* *./test-expandargv* *PASS: test-expandargv-0.* *PASS: test-expandargv-1.* *PASS: test-expandargv-2.* *PASS: test-expandargv-3.* *PASS: test-expandargv-4.* *PASS: test-expandargv-5.* *PASS: test-expandargv-6.* *make[3]: Leaving directory `/sources/binutils-build/libiberty/testsuite'* *make[2]: Leaving directory `/sources/binutils-build/libiberty'* *make[1]: Target `check-host' not remade because of errors.* *make[1]: Nothing to be done for `check-target'.* *make[1]: Leaving directory `/sources/binutils-build'* *make: *** [do-check] Error 2* *make: Target `check' not remade because of errors.* *root:/sources/binutils-build# * Can you please just let me know, if it's ok that some of the* tests/checks*are wrong for *glibc and binutils*? You need to look at your eglibc check log and look around those errors and find if anything was in the test output for a hint as to what went wrong. Re: [lfs-support] make install gcc 4.7.2 fail...
Hi, Christ: I recalled it now... This problem is probably caused by the SD card automatic disconnection from the computer during *Installing Basic System Software --- probably happened after make at page * http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/view/development/chapter06/gcc.html. In such a case, I've got no idea* what are the required steps I need to re-run before re-mount the SD Card*. Apparently, it's not just simple remount the SD card by a command line, it has something to do with chroot, and environment re-configuration I guess --- Do I require to re-run http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/view/development/chapter06/kernfs.html? And according to the installation sequence listed at http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/view/development/index.html, *Tar-1.26* is far way behind *GCC-4.7.2* . I can't help but notice the lack of surprise at tar not being found in /tools. Did you happen to skip it? Also, if tar didn't work in chroot, how have you been able to unpack the tarballs for GCC and every other package in Chapter 6? -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/lfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page -- Pei JIA Email: jp4w...@gmail.com cell:+1 604-362-5816 Welcome to Vision Open http://www.visionopen.com -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/lfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page

In LFS (apart from in the first pass during chapter 5) we use --enable-languages=c,c++ which should stop it trying to configure libjava. Are you typing the commands in, or copying and pasting ? Whichever, something is going wrong in your process.
