is : Do I need to follow the CLFS book?
I already started LFS, whenever theres a reference to '$(uname
-m)-lfs-linux-gnu' I use 'i686-lfs-linux-gnu' instead. So my $LFS_TGT is
set correctly and everything is

The easiest way to build for i686 on x86_64 hardware is to get a 32-bit
version of a commercial distro, install, and build LFS normally from that.

I agree with Bruce, the simplest (and in my opinion, the best) way
forward is to start
