Did the boot loader (grub) able to load the kernel successfully?
Did the kernel detect your storage device(s)? (You should find some messages 
about sda, sdb, hda, hdb, etc)
Did you set the correct value for the parameter "root" in your grub 
configuration? (refer to the section 8.4.4 of the LFS 7.9)
