I can assume based on the below excerpts from ac3enc.c that the AC3 encoder
defaults to None for the Dynamic Range Compression profile specified on page 10
in Dolby's Metadata Guide:

format? Is it similar to mp3, consisting of frames and headers? While I found a
nice explanation of mp3 (MPEG Audio Layer 3) on wikipedia, I couldn’t find it
