Oops, guess I won't check in SLEPc patches without a working installation then?

BTW, the reason I made the changes in slepc.m4 with the /usr/lib/slepc
stuff is that default value (which makes no sense on my machine) still
ends up in Make.common after configure.

And I don't understand the logic of this, because the
AC_SUBST(SLEPC_DIR) should only happen if $SLEPC_DIR/include/slepc.h
is successfully found.

There's no compilation error because enable-slepc=no, but I did find
it confusing.  Can we somehow change the m4 so that if slepc is not
found, invalid SLEPC_DIR values don't make it into Make.common.
Perhaps 'unset SLEPC_DIR' or something?
