[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 140945] New: Navigator Master Mode button missing in Libre Office 7.1

2021-03-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140945

Bug ID: 140945
Summary: Navigator Master Mode button missing in Libre Office
7.1
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.1.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ernieb...@gmail.com

Description:
Navigator Master Mode cannot be accessed due to missing button or improper
function of remaining button. Worked correctly in 7.0.4. New single button is
probably meant to be a toggle: Master/Content(as in earlier versions) but
retains function from 7.0.4 of select Content only.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open a Master Document
2. select mode button in Navigator
3. try to toggle to Master mode from Content mode

Actual Results:
only Content mode is possible. Master mode not accessible.

Expected Results:
Toggle between Master and Content modes

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Loaded Libre Office 7.1.0.3.(x64) Master Mode in Navigator locked out only
Content Navigation View possible. This is a definite killer BUG for Master Docs
7.0.4.2. works correctly.
7.0.4 Navigator has 2 buttons. The top one is for Master and the bottom one is
for Content. In 7.1 there is 1 button with up-down arrows positioned in the
Content location. The Master button was deleted. The probable intent was to go
back to a single toggle button as in earlier versions but the code driving the
buttons was not updated properly so it selects Content/Content/Content/

What I understood from this is that the carriage return at the end of the
problematic paragraph is in the MIDDLE of a character run. (This seems slightly
unusually, but definitely NOT uncommon.) This run of characters definitely
includes the Bold character attribute.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 140846] "Contains" in Paragraph Style should identify "Outline" as "Chapter Numbering" and have "Level" before the level number

No. Exactly "Chapter Numbering", without anything else - to keep it short. You
see yourself that when you set simply Outline level for a paragraph style, it
is shown just as "1", without any decoration.

> "Numbering" (in this case) should be "List Style" (per comment 6)

No. If we have *this* feature named "Chapter Numbering", then here we should
use "Chapter Numbering" - as a special case, to refer to specific thing. Please
no more inconsistencies.

I believe it should be: "Outline" -> "Chapter Numbering".

"Numbering" (in this case) should be "List Style" (per comment 6)

Yes scrolling the page works fine.

If I scroll on Font type or Font size on the tool bar it has the effect of
scrolling the page too.

I should probably update my Libre version and try again.

Dear jackolantern,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 140846] "Contains" in Paragraph Style should identify "Outline" as "Chapter Numbering" and have "Level" before the level number

(In reply to sdc.blanco from comment #7)
> But the "outline" in Contains, mentioned
> in comment 0, has nothing to do with "Outline Level" -- if that was supposed
> to be the explanation of its meaning.

It is "Numbering based on Outline level". This is how it was created
originally; "Outline numbering" was strongly connected with "Outline level".

But current inconsistent state (chapter numbering in one place, outline in
another, and no connection between those now) is indeed confusing. I am
strongly disagreeing with the "good reason" in comment 5. But whatever...

Maybe changing it in organizer could make sense, but only as a whole: replace
"Numbering(Outline)" with "Chapter Numbering" (having a special case code in
the function managing this).

The change was introduced by the following commit, bibisected using repo
bibisect-linux-64-7.0.

"weld Property Browser"

...
"Also replaced the other strange Edit-alike TextView with a real Edit entry and
a dropdown which can be used to support entry of multi-line labels"

Seems like the change was intended. Not sure what is possible here, perhaps if
clicking on the edit field would bring up the text editor dropdown, that'd be
nice (as I can see, even in the previous version, the edit field itself was
non-functional, edits happened in the editor dropdown).

What's different in the dropdown is that pressing Enter no longer closes it. No
idea what other way would be to switch between the editor and the button, Tab
doesn't work (it adds a Tab to the editor, it probably shouldn't).

It's also annoying that when trying to select text in the dropdown, if you move
outside the dropdown area, it closes (users will likely select from right to
left, because it's easier to start from the large empty area, but if they're
just a bit off with the movement, the popup closes).

Mention of "blinking" will not appear in "font effects" help starting with LO
7.2, but screenshot still shows "blinking", so bug summary is changed to "need
for a new screenshot".

If it is possible to make module specific screenshots, then only Writer has the
"Hidden" control.

Andreas, Heiko, would the fix simply be to add the following, now missing entry
to the context menus again? (in the 4 places it was deleted from)

It's working on my keyboard too with numpad. It is so amazing to find a laptop
that would have been out of stock from the local market. I was in the lookout

my consideration after reading a couple of great reviews by the old customers.
I got to be a good commentator for the site's worth.

Deleted affected forms and created new ones. Forms now show correct balances.
Narrowed down the issue. I originally inserted the affected field in the form
as a currency field. This currency field was somehow affected by version 7.1 as
$.01 less than the actual balance. By creating new forms the affected field was
now a formatted field which I formatted as currency and the correct balance is
now displayed.

Yes, I am familiar with this tab. But the "outline" in Contains, mentioned in
comment 0, has nothing to do with "Outline Level" -- if that was supposed to be
the explanation of its meaning.

Summary: can't paste anything onto writer but can to other
things
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.1.1.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: cromaa...@gmail.com

anything either from web or other documents or even the same document when I
try to paste paste is greyed out and won't paste. I can't paste elsewhere
(emails, notepad, etc.) but not to your Office Writer.

This is almost enough for me to try something else out as this is much needed
function by me.
