Re: Download speed for git clone

2021-08-21 Thread Yuri de Albuquerque
As per Sabyasachi Bhoi's suggestion, I've tried cloning from github
instead of gerrit and download speed improved dramatically, from 90 to
600KBps. But this only works in my Windows user directory, not in
C:/sources as in the Wiki tutorial for building libreoffice! I have no idea
why the download speeds differ depending on directory! They're on the same
physical drive. Anyway, problem solved, I guess. Thanks for the replies.

Good Morning,

The download speed you get would be limited by your internet connection.

Hello! I'm trying to build LibreOffice from source in order to learn how to
contribute. I've managed to follow the instructions up to a certain point, but
the clone command is taking way too long! The download speed never exceeds 90
KBps on the "Receiving objects" part. What is the download speed supposed to
be? I'm on a Windows 10 machine and my connection supports up to 30MBps
download.

Hello! I'm trying to build LibreOffice from source in order to learn how to
contribute. I've managed to follow the instructions up to a certain point,
but the clone command is taking way too long! The download speed never
exceeds 90 KBps on the "Receiving objects" part. What is the download speed
supposed to be? I'm on a Windows 10 machine and my connection supports up
to 30MBps download.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83762] FORMATTING: Cursor can be Positioned beyond Paper Margins by Using Negative Indentation Values

2021-08-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83762

Dear Harald Koester,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 144000] New: MAILMERGE: LO crashes on any mailmerge attempt

2021-08-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=144000

Bug ID: 144000
Summary: MAILMERGE: LO crashes on any mailmerge attempt
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.1.5.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mj.boxall...@gmail.com

Mailmerge files that have been in use for a long period no longer work.
Ctrl-P -> 'Do you want to print a form letter?'
Reply 'Y' -> LO crashes
A blank document recovery window appears briefly but then closes.
This happens with any mailmerge ODT file containing even a single merge field.

The problem first occurred on moving to the 'early adopter' version of LO a few
updates ago. I can't remember exactly which version this was: most likely
7.1.3.

Yes, I think we can safely say this is duplicate of bug 108073. It doesn't
depend on file format, but on position of table row and table settings.

There are a few regressions at work here, but it has never been perfect.
Chasing them is probably not worth the effort, eg. the "Unauthorised
version..." from the first page footer disappears around 4.0, but for a bunch
of commits it still reappears after scrolling around.

The footer going off-page to the right started from the following commit in
5.2:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 143867] Python Implementation Poorly Conceived with No Package Installation Process

2021-08-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=143867

;TLDR Embedded LO python will never be standard so DOCUMENT IT so users can
work with it, include pip as in a standard install (likely in an admin area).
Someone getting a non-standard undocumented feature to work means no more than
it can work.

==

(In reply to elmau from comment #9)
> With LibO 7.2 in W10, pip install correctly again. So, we can close this
> issue.

Why? V7.2 is pre-release. V7.0 is still available. How are users expected to
deal with the issue?

LibreOffice 7.2.0 - If you're a technology enthusiast, early adopter or power
user, this version is for you!

LibreOffice 7.1.5 - This version is slightly older and does not have the latest
features, but it has been tested for longer. For business deployments, we
strongly recommend support from certified partners which also offer long-term
support versions of LibreOffice.

Available Versions - LibreOffice is available in the following released
versions: 7.2.0, 7.1.5, 7.0.6

> PS C:\Program Files\LibreOffice\program> .\python.exe
> C:\Users\Pruebas\get-pip.py --user

Where is *that* documented? I never have any need for powershell.

Problem: Installing packages is essential for more than trivial python use yet
there is no documentation

Issues are:
* Clear user documentation should be available. Pip maintainers say their
documentation can't be followed because the LO python package doesn't include
pip - pip should be part of embedded python.
* It is not uncommon for users to have python installed on their system. How
can a user work with the specific version they need to? How does a user even
know where LO embedded python is in eg "C:\Program
Files\LibreOffice\program\python.exe" or is that "C:\Program
Files\LibreOffice\program\python-core-3.8.10\bin", or perhaps
"C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Python\Python38\Scripts"?
* Related issue is should LO python be in a venv as in other software where it
is embedded?

1. What documentation are you referring to?
2. Version information above. 7.0 is an available version. How are users
expected to know how to deal with this issue?

LO has no docs for installing packages or pip. I followed the link given to the
official pip docs.
"And -m ... This would never work" - that's my understanding of the pip docs.
Who knows why you chose those commands, I showed my workflow clearly rather
than just the commands that worked.

I'm an ordinary user and I followed official pip docs. iirc I installed with
and without admin rights during testing but I can't recall which one I
documented here. Should be without admin rights.

a) thanks for the detailed "case study"
b) thank for pointing towards some kind of standard ([1])
c) in terms of whether DATE(2006;;) should yielding at least the correct year
(see 4) from last post): I would argue that this would be an intuitive
behaviour; sometimes we may want to put only the year. However, I'm not
knowledgable enough to know whether changing this would be feasible or whether
it'd be better to stick with the standard. if it were up to a vote, I'd vote
that yes, it should output the correct year. since however i'm not a developer
and also not foreseeing all the consequences and possible relations to other
functions, i would not protest if someone convinces me reasonably enough that
it would be better to leave it as it is.

ergo: perhaps it's not a bug but a desired feature for future releases? in that
case some admin please update the status accordingly or link to the developers.
In terms of general improvement of calc - the more intuitive, the better, no?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 143998] New: When a preinstalled theme is selected, part of the tab bar has a different color to the rest of the bar

2021-08-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=143998

Bug ID: 143998
Summary: When a preinstalled theme is selected, part of the tab
bar has a different color to the rest of the bar
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.2.0.4 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: gngr...@gmail.com

Description:
When selecting a preinstalled theme color in options, only part of the color is
applied over the tab bar. The width seems to change with the monitor
resolution. This is on a dual monitor setup, and applies when writer is
displayed on either monitor. The monitors are:
BenQ PD2700U 3840 x 2160 (with 175% scaling)
Dell U2419H 1920 x 1080
with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card.

It happens with both the Dark Theme and normal color scheme.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Options
2.Personalisation
3.Select a preinstalled theme

Actual Results:
Tab bar background color is split into two different regions

Expected Results:
Tab bar background color is the same color

Reproducible: Always

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.2.0.4 release

OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: Installation
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: codecompl...@free.fr

Hello,

I tried to upgrade, but the 7.2.0.4 installer fails using all default settings:

1. LibreOffice_7.2.0_Win_x86.msi downloaded through BitTorrent:

Error 1335, libreoffice1.cab corrupt

2. Through direct link on a mirror:

"Windows Installer - This installation package could not be opened. Contact
the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer
package."

Both files have the same length (320,458,752 bytes), so it's odd that I'm not
getting the same error.

Had no problem installing 7.1.5.2 afterwards.

Cheers,

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 143996] New: In LO Writer the “Check true multiplication sign” function does NOT seem to work.

2021-08-21 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=143996

Bug ID: 143996
Summary: In LO Writer the “Check true multiplication sign”
function does NOT seem to work.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.2.0.2 rc
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: tarotf...@protonmail.com

Description:
In LO Writer the “Check true multiplication sign” function does NOT seem to
work, as selected in:

Tools > Options… > Language Settings > English Sentence Checking > Punctuation.

The only way I have found to get a true minus sign to appear in LO Writer is to
manually go to:

Insert > Insert Special Character… (or use the icon in the Standard Tool Bar).

I have tested this with my two most-used fonts: Cambria Math and Arial. A true
minus sign from the Insert Special Characters menu (located in Mathematical
Operators > Hex: U+ 2212 for the Cambria Math font) is the same size but longer
than a hyphen and is elevated somewhat from it to distinguish it from the en
dash.

It does not seem to matter if you use spaces before and/or after the typed
hyphen or enclose the negative number within a pair of parentheses as is
frequently done in hand written formulas.

I had examples included in this description, but in whatever font this is, the
difference between a hyphen, en dash, and a true minus sign were
indistinguishable from one another, so I deleted the examples. Note: I have
both Force en dash and Forced em dash deselected in the Punctuation section,
although checking them or unchecking them seems to make no difference.

Steps to Reproduce:
Try typing a minus sign using the hyphen key (with or without leading and/or
trailing spaces) with the Multiplication checkbox checked in the following
location:

Tools > Options… > Language Settings > English Sentence Checking > Punctuation

Actual Results:
No squiggly blue line appears under the hyphen to prompt you if you want to
force a minus sign or ignore the grammar checker.

Expected Results:
A prompt to transform the hyphen to a true minus sign if so desired.

Reproducible: Always

repro 7.3+
Paragraphs 1,2,4 all use LFO 0x11, while paragraph 3 uses LFO 0x12.
These two share the same listId 0x35e01e11, so this is an example of a
numbering format override.

(In reply to Buovjaga from comment #15)
For me the 4.4.7.2 table working when dragging inner border of table1 (even
with 7.3).. However you're likely right this looks like a co-incidence

Lets simplify:

1. open Writer
2. insert a table
3. Table -> Table properties -> Table tab. Set left + check relative & press OK
4. With 100% zoom -> drag the inner border -> Relative gets lost

However works fine at zoom 120% or 75%
Table size will be 17,01 cm when relative gets dropped (so smells like a
rounding)
