Bug ID: 106990
Summary: font rendering got worse looking in 5.3.2.2
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 5.3.2.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: UI
Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Reporter: silva...@katamail.com
Description:
When comparing previous versions up to 5.3.1 to 5.3.2.2, it is easy to notice
that font rendering all over the application (both in the UI, like menus,
dialog windows etc. AND in text or spreadsheet documents) is worse looking in
the latter.
In the view settings the "use system fonts for the interface" is disappeared,
and since I had it activated before this could be due to the system fonts which
were shown before, that were definitely clearer to the eye.
Also the UI scaling option ha s disappeared, implying that I cannot even change
it to make present font rendering a bit more easy on the eyes
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open the two images attached, "old UI" is a screen capture of a legacy 3.2
version (but it was the same in 5.3.1), and "New UI" a screen capture of
5.3.2.2
2.place them at 100% visualization, side by side on the screen, and visually
compare them
3.IMHO, "new UI rendering.png" is definitely worse than "Old UI rendering. png
Actual Results:
Quite unsatisfactory, "blurry" look of the application
Expected Results:
the previous very clean and clearcut font rendering
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/52.0
