More info:
- On LO 7.3.1.2 fonts renderings worked fine.
- I can also reproduce the problem on my Debian testing system (LO 7.4.0.3).
- Adding a snapshot of my XFCE fonts settings config.

Loading LO with generic X11 just works fine and text of the document and text
in a box both render fine (see attached image):
