I can confirm the same behaviour in 3.5 beta 3, OS X 10.6.8.
Just create a new document, write something, choose any change case menu entry
and get a crash.

I can confirm the exact same problem in 3.4.5 FINAL for Mac (OSX 10.7.2).
Working with an .fodt file in this case:
Highlight text to change case.
Format > Change Case > an
