Ah interesting - so I had the fullscreen issue but after playing around with
the maximize, minimize, placement etc...that went away (still a bug but for me
that issue is no longer present)

move the startup menu (where all components are listed) to the place you want
the first document to be,
then click on Writer - it should be in the right location,
