            Bug ID: 93687
Summary: Special characters created in Excel do not translate
properly to LibreOffice such as typographer's quotes
                    (“”) or accented letters (ñ).
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 5.0.0.5 release
          Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
                OS: Mac OS X (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: critical
          Priority: medium
         Component: Calc
          Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
          Reporter: eddiebarksd...@me.com

Special characters created in Excel do not translate properly to LibreOffice
such as typographer's quotes (“”) or accented letters (ñ). I use Excel on a
virtualized Windows XP machine. My spreadsheets are for catalog building and as
such often need special characters. I use LibreOffice to open these documents
on an Apple MacBook Pro to create CSV's to import into InDesign as LibreOffice
is much faster at computations (usually) than Excel 2008. However, the
documents often show translation errors such as Jalape√±o instead of Jalapeño.
