How do you get a real life document where formulas are formatted like that?

My Invoice Template

As said, it could be something on my Invoice Template...

Anyway, I believe LO shouldn't crash :|

I've cleaned it up from my personal info and tried again: the problem still
happens, so please try with the attached file ;)

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Create a new file from MY template
2. Save and close it
3. Open the Template
4. Modify something
5. Save it as the same template (overwrite)
6. Open the document saved before
7. LO will ask you if to update from the new template or not
8. Answer whatever you prefer
9. LO will open your saved document and will set it as modified (even if you
have answered to NOT apply changes)
10. Close LO
11. It will prompt to save the document
12. Answer whatever you prefer
13. Writer crashes

ODT file to test selection problem

When in header or footer, text begins or ends outside text boundaries area, it
is impossible to select text with mouse if i begin the selection with text
outside. 

For exemple with the example attached : in header, if i begin selecting text
inside "Loren" with mouse, selection don't work. In page main text area, no
problem. 

If i moove cursor with keyboard and use shift+arrow to select, no problem.

Tip : use Display/text boundaries to help selection. No matter if text
boundaries are shown or not.

Bug also found in 5.3.0.0 alpha+

After updating vorm 5.2.4 to 5.3.0.3 the Table of contents appeared like the 
secound, third,... page numerbers changed while updating to "@", without any
changes to the table format. For the first chapter order the pages are right,

Wanting to freeze rows or columns as headers and searching instructions for
doing it, local guide and helps are a set of incorrect and inconsistent
informations both in IT and EN (look at screenshots).
I know there are previous bugs already opened and 98767 has a target 5.3 but I
do not know if any discrepancies are corrected, so 

screen1- online help and real menu are different. In addition, by clicking on
"Blocca celle", also appear "Blocca ..." of which there is no trace in any
guide or help (look at screen7 what appears searching in the local guide).

screen2- local guide says to click on "Fissa righe e colonne" from menu
Visualizza (but in the menu we see "Blocca celle" (see screen1). In addition,
this page is useless then having to click on the link to access the
instructions.

screen3- clicking on the link from the previous page we get the instructions,
but again they say to click on "Fissa righe e colonne" from menu Visualizza
(but in the menu we see "Blocca celle" (see screen1).
In addition, the introduction "Se avete righe o colonne di dati piuttosto
lunghe ..." appears nonsensical: the command is used to fix the display of rows
or columns when scrolling the sheet.

screen4- also the online help refers to a unuseless page and with incorrect
instructions.

screen5- another page available online, similar to the local equivalent withe
the same nonsensical introduction. Also, here it says "Attivate il comando
Finestra-Fissa" (???).

screen6- same above comments about on EN help.

rotate from 150° to 270°

LibreOffice has no UI for it. There should be a jump to 150°, but I cannot
notice that. The stop at 270° seems to work. Roundtrip test not possible
because of bug 106002.

Doc example with two pfm fonts and png screenshot

After upgrading to 5.3.0.3, Type 1 font (like font_file_name.pfm) are not
listed in the font list (checked with Calc, Draw and Write). Text document
using this font (or svg pictures included in doc) are displayed with an
alternative font. 

No bug previously with 5.2.x (no tested) neither with 5.3.0.0alpha+ (tested)

If i embed the font in the doc, same result (embeding with alpha+) (despite the
file is very huge (8488 Ko as the fonts are only 4 Ko), perhaps an other bug to
file).

the verse numbers are surrounded by characters from above the numbers on the
keyboard

these characters should not be there

Reproduced. It does not depend on using the shortcut. Problem is with menu item

Hi all,
This problem is posing a going back to MS excel in my office. After an
herculian effort only I could change the mood of the staff in my office towards
Libreoffice.

We need a lot of calculations for the day2day office work.  At times, the cell
shows only the equation.  It does not get updated.  If we double click the
precedent cells are high lighted with colour bands.  It behaves as a text cell.
 There is no ' character before the = sign.

I can repeat this like this,

0. let in the cell A3 there is an equation "=A1+A2" (of course no double
quotes) gives the correct result by adding A1 and A2

1.put a ' character in the eqn. before = sign

2.convert the cell A3 to text using format cells

3.then remove the ' character ... it shows instead of the function value, the
function as a text.

4.trying to convert back from text to number format does not yield the result..
it shows the eqn. rather than the value

Pl. let me know what is the workaround for this.  I am using Linux and 4.3.3.2
under debian.  In my office MS Winodws 8.0 with LibreOffice 5.2 also have the
same problem.

In order to reproduce:

[1] Open your file manager (e.g. Windows Explorer in Windows) and create a new
folder for templates. Display the content of the new folder with your file
manager in order to observe the behaviour.
[2] Start LibreOffice and add the new folder to the paths for templates: Tools
> Options… > LibreOffice > Paths > Templates. Mark the new folder as Default
Path.
[3] Create new text document and insert some text.
[4] Save document as template: File > Templates > Save as Template… The “Save
as Template” dialogue is opened.
[5] Enter a template name (e. g.: Test1) and select a category. Then “Save”.
File Manager: A file with the template name is saved to the template folder.
(e. g.: Test1.ott)
[6] Close text document without saving.
[7] Create another new text document and insert some text.
[8] Save document as template: File > Templates > Save as Template… The “Save
as Template” dialogue is opened.
[9] Enter the same name and select the same category as in step 5. Then “Save”.
File Manager: The existing file is replaced by another file with a different
name. E. g. Test1 is replaced by Test11.ott. The older template is deleted and
no longer available. Expected: A message, that the template already exists
together with the question if you like to replace the template.

On the contrary if you use the default template folder in your user profile,
the expected message is displayed.

But even that is more complete in its original French version (has Calc). No
one stepped up to finish the translation from French to English. So it really

Description:
while in Calc, it is posible to insert a comment in a cell, but if escape
button is escaped before writing anything in the comment, the red dot remains
in the upper right corner of the cell, but there is no "edit comment" nor
"delete comment" in the cell context menu.

in order to delete the comment, right click -> "insert comment", then write
something, escape it and the option to edit or delete the comment will be
present in the cell context menu.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. right click insert comment in a cell (red dot appearance top right corner in
the cell, and comment area to write
2. press scape, do not write anything in the comment area.
3. right click and... cannot delete comment, the red dot will be there. It
seems that it is posible to   
delete the comment only if something is written in it.
4. red dot is there, but it is posible to right click in the cell and "insert
comment" again (don't know if it will edit the empty one or insert a new one,
guess it will be   
the edit).
5. write some stuff in the comment area.
6. now it is posible to edit the comment or delete it. 

Actual Results:  
After step 2, there is no option in the cell's context menu to delete or edit
the comment.

Expected Results:
After step 2, there should be an option in the cell's context menu to delete or
edit the comment.

intentional as sha1 certs would be deprecated for Edge and Internet Explorer on
Windows 10, 8 and 7. Also "only impact certificates that chain to a CA in the

@ Cor Nouws Regarding importing certificates into Windows certificate store:
you are right, on windows Libreoffice uses the certificates from the windows
store. One way to get there is from the Control Panel, another from Internet
Explorer settings, as shown in our document. Adding to Firefox store will work
for Libreoffice under Linux (as well as for contacting our Owncloud server
using Firefox, which is unrelated to this bug).

If you use the "Find & Replace" dialog and if you select an item of "More
Options" (backwards, regular expressions, etc.), next time you open the "F"
dialog the "More Options" part will be not shown - but the item will be still
selected. It is not visible to the user that the "More Options" item is still
selected, so it can (and will) be forgotten. Therefore the user can't find what
s/he wants and doesn't know why.
Suggestion: Keep the whole "Find & Replace" dialog open as long as an item of
the "More Options" part is selected. This issue occurs in all applications.

Very nice!   

It looks like the icons & drop-down arrows in the overflow thing are somewhat
miniaturized, which makes them less comfortable on the eyes for oldsters like

Test document

The attached DOCX document, consisting of a single paragraph as a list item
opens and looks fine in Word, but the text appears condensed in Writer
(5.3.0.3, 3.6.0.4 / Windows 7).

The cause is this XML tag in word/document.xml: 
If the document is decompressed, the tag is removed in a text editor (from line
94 and others), and the files are recompressed, the document shows fine in
Writer as well.
Another way to fix the look is to select the condensed text, open Format ->
Character..., and on Position tab change Scale width from 1% to 100%.

The file was coming from Word, and reduced/sanitized by cutting parts of the
XML and replacing text/images. Other parts looked fine in Writer, and didn't
include the mentioned tag. No XML code related to the remaining part has been
changed or cut.

handling with OpenGL has gone wonky.

Don't Update() and Flush() status bar draws
>From reading the code of vcl::Window::Update, this already calls
Invalidate and Flush in case of top-level widgets and also handles
child windows.

And there is no need to invalidate the progress bar text, if we
just update the progress value.

Open attached document and play the presentation. On click the arrow should
rotated 720°. That is done by the "Spin" effect.
Export the presentation to either of the two pptx formats. Unzip the file and
open the file "slide1.xml". Open the  element completely. Notice,
that in the  element with id="5" the element  is empty. It
should contain a  element. Opening the exported file in PowerPoint
results in an error.

I see the error already in LO 4.1 and it still exists in LO 5.4.

Yes, thanks for the reminder!
Actually I used to be a developer myself, voluntarily and in some small
portions paid. 
With both hats I tried to get priorities right: not niceness over function.
No project that values eye candy higher than debugging showstoppers is
sustainable.

And I want LibreOffice to be sustainable, and some day before I die usable
completely without having to resort to Microsoft WORD.

Who defines necessary improvements and the relevance of 'modernizing stuff'?

To me it sounds like doctors leaving a heart patient on the side in order to
operate an ingrowing toe nail. 

My frustration might come from me evangelizing FOSS for the last 20 years,
using it throughout. This bug has been creeping around for the last around 9
years now, prevents from backups in cases of shared drives, and gets no
attendance. 
Though time is on hand, plenty, to implement a ribbon interface.

Removing regression keyword, it's not, 3.5 doesn't know the engineering
notation hence displays 1.00E+02 (note that the correct result here would be
100.00E+00).

Today is 2017, and this happens to me too. The file has recorded changes. This
has happened twice in two days in a row after I updated to 5.2.5.1 because of
this similar bug:https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104181,
but this time there is no error. I always edit it in web view. I have check the
path too but there is no recent backup.

Still working on that file.  Under LO 5.3 and Linux I have tried opening a
scratch file and then opening the troubled file.  Same crash, but all the files
crash right out of libreoffice.  A panel appears with the notice that due to an
unexpected error Libreoffice has crashed; it the lists the file currently at
crash time, and reports that  upon reopening Libreoffice the files will be
recovered.

This bug needs to be raised to critical status.

Meanwhile an alphatical list off all functions is provided for menus, context
menus and toolbars under the category "All catagories" (versions 5.2.x). Hence
the work to implement this enhancement request is almost done. Only for
shortcuts a list of all functions does not exist yet.
