When trying to reproduce the bug in version 5.4.2:
There is no Format > Sheet
There is Sheet > Right-to-Left

When merging 3 empty cells (1st group of merged cells - E3:G3) and setting
their borders as per instructions, the borders did not vanish.
Then I merged one cell with text with 2 empty cells (2nd group of merged cells
D6:F6) and set their borders.
The second group's borders did not vanish, but the first group's borders
vanished in RTL and reappeared in LTR.
Then I merged 3 other empty cells (3rd group of merged cells B20:D20). The
borders were set as above without my explicitly setting them. The borders did
not vanish in RTL, but the borders of 1st and 2nd groups vanished in RTL and
reappeared in LTR.

Conclusion: it seems that borders are shown in RTL only for the most recently
merged cells.

My system:
Version: 5.4.2.2.0+
Build ID: 1:5.4.2-3~bpo9+1
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 4.9; UI render: default; VCL: gtk2; 
Locale: en-US (en_US.utf8); Calc: group

Quite unfortunate that this is the case (though i knew you used to maintain
them :D).

It is mentioned in the font description that "KACST holds the copyright of the
included Arabic font which is donated under GPL by KACST", so as they didnt
mention which version of the GPL, we shouldn't distribute it?

So its possible to break fonts by using a line spacing other than single. Sound
implausible to me, but i look forward to seeing the evidence behind that, or
were you saying this specifically about LibreOffice?

I doubt we'll be changing the default font, Liberation Serif, and it does look
cramped at 100% in my view, just like its metrically compatible counterpart -
Times New Roman, so the only solution we have is to change the line spacing. We
also have document specifications that dictate that you use a particular line
spacing as well (e.g. APA and MLA require double spacing).

I am suggesting that we change the line spacing in the default style and when
you do so, it changes the line spacing for all inheriting styles that dont
specifically have a line spacing set. So you cant separate the two from each
other.

I was only partially able to replicate this on Ubuntu 16.04. The text was
blurry, but images nor any of the screen was cut off. Currently on LibreOffice
5.4.2.2. Doesn't seem to be affecting all versions. Do other programs appear
blurry as well?

You could indeed cast the question as "screen vs print", but it's kind of
splitting hairs since, typically, serif fonts look better in print and sans
serif look better on screen.

But be the question put as it may, I don't see a reason for this choice to be
different for Hebrew than in is for English - where the default is Liberation
(serif) for Writer, and Liberation Sans for Calc. Your premise - that people
would rather like a screen-oriented font, which essentially means a sans-serif
font - could have applied to English/Latin languages as well. But the accepted
wisdom that users do expect to use Writer with a print-oriented font.

Of course, it is important to choose a font that looks well enough on screen as
well, rather than just in print.

PS 1: Microsoft had, for many years, used a Serif font as the default in MS
Word (Times New Roman), then switched to the interesting Calibri, a sans serif
font (and Cambria, a serif font, for headings).

PS 2: I have to object to the use of the term "marketing", as LO is gratis and
libre, so it's never traded and thus not marketed.

I need to be specific on this, so please bear with me.  You may well decide it
isn't a bug. This is what I found.

If libreoffice-gtk2 and libreoffice-gtk3 are not installed, the version I
normally use shows as:

Version: 5.4.2.2
Build ID: 1:5.4.2~rc2-0ubuntu0.17.10.1~lo1
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 4.13; UI render: default; VCL: x11; 
Locale: en-GB (en_GB.UTF-8); Calc: group

With complex databases using a mysql/mariadb back end I cannot enter any data,
even into tables (not just on forms).  However, with simple built-in (HSQLDB)
databases it works.



I installed libreoffice-gtk3:

Version: 5.4.2.2
Build ID: 1:5.4.2~rc2-0ubuntu0.17.10.1~lo1
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 4.13; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3; 
Locale: en-GB (en_GB.UTF-8); Calc: group

and it now all works.


I run the same version, with libreoffice-gtk3 still installed, but using
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen soffice:

Version: 5.4.2.2
Build ID: 1:5.4.2~rc2-0ubuntu0.17.10.1~lo1
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 4.13; UI render: default; VCL: x11; 
Locale: en-GB (en_GB.UTF-8); Calc: group

And it still works. Puzzling.


If I run 6.0.0.0 with or without SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen it also works.  I don't
have the option to remove libreoffice-gtk3 completely from this version so
can't compare with 5.4.2.2.


The moral of this seems to be that I have to have libreoffice-gtk3 (or gtk2,
but I haven't tested that) installed to use Base as a front end to
Mysql/mariadb, and live with bug #112590 until it's fixed.

More of 'a feature' than a bug I guess.

Impress does not have continuous text as Writer it has, but has only single
graphic objects. Your request is the same as if you would intersect a
"Text-box"-shape (that form the T icon) and a circle in Writer.

When a template is already in use, and another template is opened via 'File ->
New -> Templates -> [Select a template] -> Open', the following error message
appears:

 creating a new document:
General input/output error while accessing
/snap/libreoffice/39/lib/libreoffice/share/template/common/presnt/LushGreen.otp.

Using a snap version of LibreOffice on Fedora 26 via the 'Candidate' channel.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Impress. Open a template.
2. Select another template via 'File -> New -> Templates -> [Select a template]
-> Open'
3. View error message

Actual Results:  
Popup error message

Expected Results:
The newly selected template replaces the old one in use.


Reproducible: Always

Additional Info:
This occurs when a template from a pptx file has been used as well (this is the
use case which led to the discovery).

in 2 different computers?

maybe you have a different locale setting in which the ø is shown after the
z...

in my computer the "ø" entries are at the the top of the list and the last are
the "z" ones.

I disagree about framing the choice as "serif" vs. "sans serif" -- I think we
should be framing it as "screen fonts" vs. "print fonts". And I believe it's
not a technical question -- a user can change *their* default easily enough --
it's a marketing question.

IMO we need to make users feel as comfortable as possible when they first
interact with the product. This implies a preference for screen fonts. I think
if we choose a font that is less-well-suited to the screen, even if looks
better in print, many of our first-time-users will simply not stay our users
long enough to print.

Focusing on the address part: the paragraph style is header which has tab stops
defined at 7.62cm and 15.24cm - the locations where LO places them in .docx.

As noted in comment 2, directly applied paragraph styling is overriding that to
use the default tabs. LO appears to not saving the default formatting (as is
common), but in this case it should since it must override the non-default
formatting from the style.

Yes I normally run automatic spell check. However, I have just tried unchecking
all the spell checking options and restarting the program (this is 5.4.3.2
again) and it makes no difference. 

Text with deliberate misspellings was accepted without underscore after a short
delay.

I tried entering a column of random numbers, moving the cursor from cell to
cell and typing. The cells were not highlighted as I selected them.  Nothing
happened for several seconds then all the numbers appeared as entered.

Strange data latency is still with us - but apparently only in the one version.

Apologies for the delay in answering your previous request. It arrived at a
busy time and then fell off the end of the to-do list.

Hi,

almost all the time I open a Writer document the Recovery function shows up.
I'm sure that I didn't change the document and that I shut down my OS properly.
I used the search function, that's all I did with the document.
Also if I changed the document and shotdown Windows without saving it this
Recovery feature is unwanted. The document is not broken, it doesn't need any
recovery. I should be asked before closing if I want to save the changes or
not, as all the other software do.

This annoying behavior exists from many months so it was not introduced
recently.

Windows 10 x64.
LoberOffice 5.2.6.2 (x64)

3. Open Windows again and open the same document.

Changed subject, because "Adjust to contour" is not available for custom
shapes, but only for polygons, bézier curves and legacy rectangle and circles.

For legacy rectangles and circles the text position is correct, but not for
polygons and bézier curves. I see the error in Version: 6.0.0.0.alpha1+

Description:
LibreOffice leaks memory when  is pressed multiple times in document
properties -> custom properties and Notebookbar is enabled

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make sure Notebookbar is enabled
2. Open new document in writer or calc
3. Go to document properties -> custom properties
4. Press and release  buttons for some time and watch how memory fills
up

Actual Results:  
Libre "eats" all available memory, including swap

Expected Results:
Libre does not "eat" more memory when pressing shift


Reproducible: Always


User Profile Reset: Yes



Additional Info:
Use htop or similar to watch how memory fills up.
Important note: soffice.bin process does NOT consume more memory, but available

System requirements are for 1024x768 at 256 color.

But, may be able to work around. Set your display to 800x600 and launch
directly to Impress (simpress.exe) from the C:/Program Files/LibreOffice
5/program directory. Rather than soffice.exe (which takes you through the Start
Center) and forces minimum 620px height.

Latest build 5.4.2.2 GB installs beautifully. The corresponding help file seems
to install (programs and features) but is not available through the help
function in the LibreOffice program itself. Could it be a 32/64 mismatch?

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install 5.4.2.2 over 5.2x
2. install help file
3. try to use it from Writer

Actual Results:  
error message saying program is not installed; click the message off and Writer
still works

Expected Results:
I'd have expected the locally installed help file to work

Description:
When opening a saved file with a list box (or creating a new one from a
template), the Data/Linked Cell field is blank instead of maintaining the cell
reference previously entered.

Works as expected in 5.3.3.2, doesn't work in 5.4.2.2.

I noticed a patch related to the listbox control was posted in response to bug
79250 and made live as of 5.4.0. Could this possibly be linked?

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create blank Calc spreadsheet
2. Create Form Control with a list of entries
3. Add a reference in "Linked cell" under Properties:List Box, Data tab
4. Turn off Design Mode and verify that the created Listbox works
5. Save file & close
6. Open file

Actual Results:  
The "Linked cell" field in the Form Control properties Data tab is blank, and
the Listbox does not function.

Expected Results:
The "Linked cell" field in the Form Control properties Data tab should retain
its earlier value, and the Listbox should function.

Doing some test,
- Copying and pasting including the ranges with the chart data, copy data
ranges on the source file, but with a wrong path.
- Copying the sheet to a new file (right-click on the sheet tab), seems copy
data range fine.
