I make a correction here. Adding ellipsis on File->Templates->"Manage
Templates" might not look sensible (as it does not _require_ input on managing
Impress templates). But a similar menu item, File->New->"Templates", may need
ellipsis, so it becomes File->New->"Templates..."

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118403] New: UI: inconsistent name of "Manage Templates" menu item in Start Center as "New document from template..."

2018-06-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118403

Bug ID: 118403
Summary: UI: inconsistent name of "Manage Templates" menu item
in Start Center as "New document from template..."
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: topicUI
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mikekagan...@hotmail.com

When in Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, the Ctrl+Shift+N action (available from
menu File->Templates) is named "Manage Templates" (which is reasonable, since
it opens "Templates" dialog where styles can be imported/exported/set
default/categorize).

But in Start Center, the same item is named "New document from template...",
which is inconsistent. The problem is not the name itself (although I think the
"Manage Templates" fits more), but the inconsistency.

And the same action item is File->New->Templates. I suppose that having three
different names for the same action (two of them being present in the menu
simultaneously at any time) is clutter.

Tested with Version: 6.0.5.2 (x64)
Build ID: 54c8cbb85f300ac59db32fe8a675ff7683cd5a16
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: GL;
Locale: ru-RU (ru_RU); Calc: CL

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118402] New: Needs ellipses: "Manage Templates" menu item and window

2018-06-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118402

Bug ID: 118402
Summary: Needs ellipses: "Manage Templates" menu item and
window
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.7.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: trivial
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: explore...@gmail.com

Description:
In LibreOffice Impress, the File->Templates->"Manage Templates" menu item, and
various buttons within the Manage Templates window, do not have ellipses on the
texts. Many HIGs (Human Interface Guidelines) would require ellipses on
controls that do not take immediate action but require additional options.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to File->Templates->"Manage Templates"
2. See the "Move", "Export" and "Import" buttons on the bottom bar of the
Templates window.
3. Click on the gear icon on the bottom left, and see "New category" and
"Delete category" submenu items.

Actual Results:
All the mentioned button or menu item texts do not have ellipses on them:
1. "Manage Templates"
2. "Move", "Export" and "Import"
3. "New Category" and "Delete Category"

Expected Results:
The button or menu item text should be have ellipsis suffix, like:
1. "Manage Templates..."
2. "Move To...", "Export..." and "Import..."
3. "New Category..." and "Delete Category..."

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Tested on:
* LibreOffice Impress 5.2.7.2 en-US locale
* LibreOffice Impress 6.0.5.2 zh-TW locale

Understand that the "Text runs" inside the PDF are not organized in any lexical
sense as PDF is a presentation format--content of a PDF can be split apart and
structured with no regard for the source content.

But we already are looking at improving fidelity of the Unicode text run
composition for CTL and embedding strings of "Actual text" in our PDF export
(bug 11748)--IMHO would expect we can implement that same filter handling for
import or break.

And believe attempts to assemble the "runs" into some minimum set of text boxes
on import (or break) would be a reasonable filter enhancement--and would in
general improve preparation of structured accessible documents.

However beyond that we must continue to reject any perception of LO as a PDF
"editor".

To resume,
- arrows created by Microsoft Word look OK in LibreOffice Writer : good
position, good size, good colors... The first attachment contains those arrows
(90% sure : in navigator their names are "straight arrow connectors", whereas
LibO arrows are named "shape")
- arrows created by LibreOffice Writer go wrong : wrong position, wrong size,
but good angle. each time you save the .docx, position go more and more away.

To confirm, open the first attachement with LibreOffice,
insert one arrow where you want, remember position and size.
save, close,
reopen

Expected results : No changed positions and size of shapes.

Actual Results : arrows created from LibO get their positions and sizes
changed, arrows by Microsoft are not affected.

I suspect coordinates translation problem.

I was able to reproduce the bug in the following (Windows 8.1):

Version: 6.0.5.2 (x64)
Build ID: 54c8cbb85f300ac59db32fe8a675ff7683cd5a16

Locale: en-US (en_US); Calc: CL

 and

CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 6.3; UI render: GL;
TinderBox: Win-x86@42, Branch:master, Time: 2018-06-15_08:49:04
Locale: en-US (en_US); Calc: CL

Probably unrelated, but I couldn't save my test file after I created the chart
and tried to save. (6.0.5.2). In my attachment, I include the error just in
case it's been seen before and might be helpful with another bug. For now, I'll
assume it was some random thing on my computer.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106077] Treat hyphenation character U+002D same as U+2010

2018-06-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106077

>From a user's perspective, the situation is even more tricky:

Hyphen characters U+002D and U+2010D ARE both treated as word separators, if
both words are in the standard dictionary.
U+002D is no longer treated as word separator as soon as one of the words is
taken from a user's dictionary. See attachment 131339.

So for me it looks like this is not an issue of the hyphenation library but
rather one of how LO treats words from different dictionaries.

What's maybe not obvious from the screenshot: the original document has "First
page different" checked and "Even and odd different" not checked.

Opening the file in LO, both "Same content on left and right pages" and "Same
content on first page" are checked.

2018-06-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118401

Bug ID: 118401
Summary: close-and-open-file loses intervening changes by other
programs
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.2.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Base
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: lo_b...@iseries-guru.com

I am working on debian-buster with daily Linux dbgutil bibisect repository
version 2018-06-25.

The example here uses embedded Firebird, but embedded HSQLDB gives essentially
the same result with complication of having to decline migration to Firebird.

STR

( 1) Download a02_fb.odb

attached to bug 114755. It an embedded Firebird database with
 one empty table.

( 2) At command line, copy a02_fb.odb to a03.odb.

( 3) In LO, open a03.odb.

( 4) Open table Table1. Observe zero data rows.

( 5) Into Table1 key a data row, for example:
 1 one

( 6) Close Table1.

( 7) Close Base window and save data. Program presents Start Center.

( 8) At command line
 losf | grep a03.odb

( 9) Observe 7 or 8 lines of output.

(10) At command line, copy a02_fb.odb to a03.odb.

(11) In LO, open a03.odb.

(12) Open Table1.
 Expected : zero data rows
 Observed : one data row

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118400] New: Unable to insert the EURO (€) symbol in documents using the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+E

2018-06-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118400

Bug ID: 118400
Summary: Unable to insert the EURO (€) symbol in documents
using the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+E
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.4.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ptsel...@gmail.com

Description:
In all Greek keyboard layouts there is a special shortcut for inserting the
EURO (€) symbol in the text. This is: Ctrl+Alt+E and is used by every
application. Actually I 've just used it to insert the character to this text.
I have to switch to Greek keyboard before using the shortcut. Unfortunately,
this cannot happen anymore in LibreOffice Writer, because this shortcut is used
by LibreOffice Writer to launch the Extension Manager. I think this must change
immediately because all Greeks in all applications use this shortcut for
inserting the EURO symbol, (and they use it very often)!

Actual Results:
Switch to Greek Keyboard and press Ctrl+Alt+E

Expected Results:
Extension Manager Launced but this shortcut MUST be used for inserting the EURO
symbol.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Since this is a per language setting, I think it should be part of the
hyphenation dictionary and reported by libhyphen, and then LibreOffice can make
use of that. Making every user of such language set the hyphenation character
is bad UX IMO.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 85610] Track Changes does not keep Footnote marked as deleted

2018-06-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85610

Here is a simpler recipe than comment 2, which still reproduces some of
original bug report.

1. New Text Document.
2. Type a text, and make a footnote.
3. Edit → Track changes → Record Changes.
4. Delete some text and footnote in the text.
5. Delete the text in the footnote.
6. Turn 'off' "Show Track Changes"

(correct) Result: all deletions are not shown.

7. Turn 'on' "Show Track Changes"

(correct) Result: Deletions in body are still shown as deleted.
(incorrect) Result: the text in the footnote is no longer shown as deleted.

8. It does not matter if the file is saved or not. (Also, if the footnote text
is deleted, and then the file is immediately saved and closed, the footnote
text is shown as undeleted, when the file is opened again.)

While the EMF header looks much better, the top/bottom margin values are still
overwritten by header/footer sizes.

Yes, that's how it is implemented. Someone native might find a better text for
the checkbox.

This is a different issue than bug 85731 which is about the character being
inserted at line break during hyphenation (i.e. output), not which characters
are recognized as hyphen during input.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118399] New: Word Completion doesn't capture words starting with the pound/hash symbol (#)

2018-06-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118399

Bug ID: 118399
Summary: Word Completion doesn't capture words starting with
the pound/hash symbol (#)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.4.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: drows...@cock.li

Description:
Write's Word Completion doesn't capture a word if it starts with the pound/hash
symbol (#). It would be useful because hashtags (e.g. #todayilearned) are very
popular nowadays.

If the behavior is the same in the case of other special symbols as well, then
I propose removing this barrier altogether, so that every string can be
captured.

Optionally, there could be a setting so that the user can modify which starting
characters render a word uncapturable by the Word Completion list.

Steps to Reproduce:
(see Description)

Actual Results:
(see Description)

Expected Results:
(see Description)

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

OpenGL enabled: Yes

The setting is in menu Tools > AutoCorrect Options. In tab Options you can
uncheck "Capitalize first letter of every sentence". My personal preference is
to disable them all.

Or you disable this feature for the word "incl.". That is in tab Exceptions.
Notice, that the exceptions depend on language.

One problem with these settings is, that they are used in Writer as well,
tracked in bug 98154.

So this is not a bug.
