https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121011 --- Comment #7 from Heiko Tietze --- (In reply to Luke from comment #5) > The description of Bug 72662 is about not using the standard... Now we discuss potential solutions on two places. > attachment 149725 [details] shows how WordPerfect gives the user a choice... Two units would be a good step ahead, for sure. But I suspect there are many scenarios where you need the micromanagement. For example, talking about Draw as worst-case you need A4 with points and lines to create a poster but meter/inches to scribble a floor plan. Sometimes you scale things and that requires percent. So while I totally agree on a sensible global configuration with two options or per-module configuration, we'd support working with different units very easy when switching per-control would be possible (and since this feature is a "hidden gem" it has no negative bearing on usability). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 122899] FILEOPEN: ppt: old kind arc from MS Office 97 is broken
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122899 --- Comment #6 from Regina Henschel --- The main problem is in the part around filter\source\msfilter\msdffimp.cxx#4606. There XPolygon aXPoly( aPolyBoundRect.Center(), aPolyBoundRect.GetWidth() / 2, aPolyBoundRect.GetHeight() / 2, static_cast(nStartAngle) / 10, static_cast(nEndAngle) / 10, true ); is called. It should generate a clockwise Béziercurve from start angle to end angle. But in case of the test document, a wrong curve with a very short arc is generated. With this short arc, later on in #4608, a rectangle aPolyPieRect with small width is generated. That leads to a far to large fXScale in #4639 and a totally wrong fXOfs in #4627. As a result the new bounding rectangle and thus size and position of the shape results in the values posX=-927.66cm and width=522.83cm, which you see in the Position dialog in the loaded file. The solution should be, to do not use these old methods from _xpoly.cxx, but make a solution, where the essential calculation is done with the methods from basegfx. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=123752 --- Comment #6 from Eike Rathke --- What happens is that 12_345,67 (here with '_' for the no-break space) is lexically tokenized to 12 _345 ,67 which then leads to three numbers 12 and 345 (because there in the number parser the no-break space is just a leading space) and 0,67 (from which stems the extra 0 because a leading decimal separator is allowed), which then with the formula tokens concatenated as strings produces 123450,67 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 121011] FORMATTING: Make font size field in styles dialogs toggleable between percentage and pt
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121011 --- Comment #6 from Mike Kaganski --- Personally I'd simplify all this to label strings and tooltips. Having the proposed (and mistyped in comment 1) "size or % relative to base style" would already make user aware of the option to use this (which was the initial rationale); and additional tooltip telling that it's possible to also use other units (like in, pt, mm, etc) would drive it further. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121011 Luke changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|DUPLICATE |--- Status|RESOLVED|NEW --- Comment #5 from Luke --- The description of Bug 72662 is about not using the standard, universally accepted units for font size and line spacing. One proposed solution makes it easier for the users to work around this UI failure. However it not clear at even that poor solution would directly fix this issue without further work. A much better solution would be to directly address this specific UI issue, rather than try to come up with a generic fix that makes the user micromanage units that shouldn’t have to be micromanaged. attachment 149725 shows how WordPerfect gives the user a choice in an instances very similar to this where they can choice multiples vs line spacing in its natural unit, points. Writer does something similar with a drop down. It's much better to address cases like this individually, rather than expect the user to constantly manage every type of unit. We have natural units for a reason. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

My only concern however is that the opening time crosses 5 seconds while opening the docs after a double click or else even starting from the "start screen". Another problem I'm facing is that I may be able to open up other users files but others are facing issues using their Microsoft Office 2007. Please help ASAP. I'm using Steps to Reproduce: 1.Double Click/Open Through the Start Screen of Libre OOffice on any Office Suite files created using Microsoft Ofice 2.Other problem happens when you have saved the file using Libre Office and then try to open it using Microsoft Office Suites (Especially Spreadsheet and Ecel). 3.That's all! A file Saved in Libre Office Suite Does Not open or rather shows that the files are corrupt and is unusable by the others who use any other software. Note though that "Grand" is a distinct translation unit and to form the final string is combined with the function's name, in this example "Sum" to form "Grand Sum". [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 72662] Different Measurement Units for Line vs Page Properties (e.g. point vs inch)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72662 --- Comment #19 from Luke --- The UI and precision problem demonstrated in Bug 115266 is yet one more reason all instances of fonts size, line spacing, and line width should be represented in points, their natural unit. Expecting the user to constantly toggle units back and force because we use the same unit for quantities that have different natural units makes no sense. The obvious solution here is to do what every other OfficeSuite does and use the natural units of measure. For 99.9% of users forcing them to find the location of this feature and micro-manage it, it a waste of time. It's UI design failure. I strongly disagree that we should make the micro-managing easier for the other 0.1% of use cases. For the rare case when you do not want to use the natural unit, you can always do the conversion manually. With the added bonus that you avoid the precision, issue of Bug 115266. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 123848] New: "Compare Document": Changes misrepresented as new document sections
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=123848 Bug ID: 123848 Summary: "Compare Document": Changes misrepresented as new document sections Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.2.0.3 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: smith.kenn...@hp.com Created attachment 149720 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=149720=edit Open this one first When two revisions of one of our specification documents are compared using "Edit" --> "Compare Document", some changes are mislabeled to be in a different section, which makes review (online or offline) very difficult. I have tried to move our organization (IEEE ISTO Printer Working Group) to LibreOffice from Microsoft Word, but the document comparison limitations seen in these cases makes it very hard to work with "-rev" revision document reviews. Reproducing the problem: 1. Open the attached "wd-ippauth-20190304.odt" document. 2. Do "Edit" --> "Compare Document", and choose the other attached document "wd-ippauth-20190117.odt" 3. Make note of the sections and formatting. One area to watch is the sections on page 15 (section 3.2 - 3.3). 4. Do "File" --> "Save as...", and save the new document as a different document. 5. Go to page 15 Expected behavior: No new sections will have been created. Actual behavior: A section 3.3 with all strikethrough text will be created. The new section numbers throw everything off. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
