[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127303] New: FILESAVE takes longer and longer with each save, including autosave events. Version 6.2.4.2

2019-09-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127303

Bug ID: 127303
Summary: FILESAVE takes longer and longer with each save,
including autosave events. Version 6.2.4.2
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.2.4.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: groova...@yahoo.com

Description:
When very large document opened, filesave happens somewhat normally but with
each additional save, including autosaves, the product goes into the "Not
Responding" state for longer and longer periods apparently with no limit to how
long it will stay in unresponsive state. Have chopped the document into 2~3
pieces and the result is the same for each piece. It can take 15 minutes or
longer to save. The progress bar always completes quickly but the "Not
Responding" state always gets longer and longer. The filesave is apparently not
complete until the product comes out of "Not Responding" as I verified by
terminating the session with task manager during the process. I can restart the
program and the filesave starts out ALMOST normally and the problem of course
repeats. It does not matter whether some fonts are not installed or not, the
behavior is the same whether or not all the needed fonts are installed. This
issue is the same on two machines being employed, both machines exhibit the
issue.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load the document at this link:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1j0paDC_KnTWpC7brI7B5cVtOEmHLRCSi

2. make small changes and save numerous times. Do not be concerned that all the
fonts are not installed, issue will occur whether or not they are installed.
But if wanting the additional fonts they are here:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1H3_t1ugobDKa3KGRZLayB07CwOCgHV5D

3. Notice the save times getting successively longer and longer

Actual Results:
Excessive save times

Expected Results:
Normal, reasonable save time

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Did you do it in MS Office? After you clear the cells by setting them to
no-fill, you set the background color for the whole table. It is on the same
popup where you set the fill color for the individual cell.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 93111] Feature Request: Custom Style Group

Adding needsUXEval as this seems not to be done so easily and should be well
baked before implemented.

Some rough questions:
- Done only by context menu at style sidebar items like 'Hide'?
- Done with a new UI as suggested in bug 127243 with checkbox-like
multiselection? (An older discussion about custom font list comes into my mind)
- Custom styles group in flat and/or hierarchical view?
- How useful is this as the setting is saved in the user profile but not in the
file itself?
- What will be shown if the user is opening another file without such custom
styles group? And what when after that opening or going back to the file where
it exists?

Has there been any accident with that file, e.g a crash while the file was
open?

The reason might be, that the layer-set has got wrong 'visible' information.
Please make a copy of the file and change the file name extension to .zip. Open
the package and examine the sub-file style.xml. Open it in an editor and look
for "draw:layer-set". There you will find five times "draw:layer". Has any of
them a property "draw:display"? There should not be such property for a
presentation document.

Export to pptx would indeed fix such problem, because that is a different file
format, which does not know anything about "layer". And reimport would generate
the default set.

The name input box is unsuitable for that purpose, because its value is
automatically filled from an internal property.

The user only needs this information as long as he is inexperienced with the
tool "Layer".

I don't know, how much space is at the right side of the check boxes, if the
labels are in other languages.

There is enough space inside the 'description' field. But I don't know, if
there is a good way to indicate, that the user can deleted such text to put his
own text into the field.

Perhaps our design team has some ideas, whether it is possible to provide such
help inside the dialog.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127301] New: FILESAVE XLSX Adjusting autofilter range creates extra name range

2019-09-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127301

Bug ID: 127301
Summary: FILESAVE XLSX Adjusting autofilter range creates extra
name range
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.4.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ba...@caesar.elte.hu
Blocks: 103512, 127300

Created attachment 153823
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=153823=edit
Sample ODF with an autofilter set

- Create a simple two-column spreadsheet, and add an autofilter to it (sample
ODS attached).
- Save as XLSX, and reload.
- Select only the data in one of the columns (eg. A1-A4 in the sample), and
click Autofilter. This adjusts autofilter, and only keeps it on the selected
part.
- Save as XLSX, and reload.

=> Both columns have autofilter in Calc (in Excel only one has, as expected).
Open Sheet -> Named Ranges and Expressions -> Manage... It shows two names, for
both the original and redefined ranges:
- _xlnm.FilterDatabase
- _xlnm.FilterDatabase_0

It should only show one range (ultimately it shouldn't show any, as
_xlnm.FilterDatabase is a special named range for this purpose, and not for
users to change, but that's a different issue). Excel's Name Manager also shows
one entry, while it should show none.

Observed using LO 6.4.0.0.alpha0+ (0fb2927a8fe06e6c3255544b8e4c4c9c0f5a67d3) &
4.4.0.3 / Windows 7.

What you describe is the purpose of "locked". Keep the layer locked and only
toggle that, if you want to work on that layer.
You need not open the layer modify dialog. You can toggle the status by
clicking on the tab:
Ctrl+Shift Click --> toggle printable
Ctrl Click  --> toggle locked
Shift Click --> toggle visible

2019-09-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127300

Bug ID: 127300
Summary: [META] Issues with import/export/display of Excel
built-in defined names
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ba...@caesar.elte.hu
Blocks: 108815, 108897, 109072, 109178

Excel has the following built-in defined names for specific purposes, they all
begin with "_xlnm" in XLSX:
- _xlnm.Print_Area
- _xlnm.Print_Titles
- _xlnm.Criteria
- _xlnm.FilterDatabase
- _xlnm.Extract
- _xlnm.Consolidate_Area
- _xlnm.Database
- _xlnm.Sheet_Title

These are related to print area/title, filter & advanced filter and various
less important stuff. For details see ECMA-376-1 18.2.5. There are somewhat
similar XLS equivalents, not listing those here.

In Calc these tend to show in Manage Names dialog (Sheet -> Named Ranges and
Expressions -> Manage...), but as they have specific purposes, and can be set
in different places, they shouldn't really be listed there.

They also tend to be exported in multiples if a defined range is changed, which
shouldn't happen.

Paul, your comment with test file was ignored and is still being ignored. As
Jay wrote back in 2016, this bug is no place to add specific issues as comment.
This is a meta bug where pdf export issues are collected with their bug
numbers.

If you've a problem, ask at ask.libreoffice.org or file a separate bug report
with link to your test file, what's faulty in your eyes and maybe steps to
reproduce the problem.

Please do not hijack other bug reports.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127299] New: base crashes if like query has blank in parameter

2019-09-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127299

Bug ID: 127299
Summary: base crashes if like query has blank in parameter
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.0.4 release
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Base
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: cwayneda...@gmail.com

Description:
I'm getting a crash whenever the parameter to a query has a space in it. A
simplified version of the query is:

SELECT * FROM "My_Table" WHERE ( UPPER ( "Title" ) LIKE UPPER ( '%' || ? || '%'
) )

This works fine if the parameter has no spaces but with spaces there's about a
45 second hang followed by a crash. I looked for debug log options but couldn't
find any. Also couldn't see the crash report when I chose to send one. Also
couldn't append any info to the crash report so doubt that it's useful to
developers without knowing what triggered the crash. The Windows application
log just showed that soffice.bin crashed.

The table is very simple, one key integer ID field with autovalues and 6
varchar text fields. There are currently only 540 records in the table. The
"Title" field used in the simplified query has no null entries and no non ascii
characters that I know of.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use any test table with a varchar field (not verified against any other
table).
2. Create query similar to "SELECT * FROM "My_Table" WHERE ( UPPER ( "Title" )
LIKE UPPER ( '%' || ? || '%' ) )" where "Title" field is varchar.
2. Run query, entering parameter with spaces, ex. "xxx yyy" without the
quotes. Bug will not happen if parameter is in quotes or if blanks are replaced
with _.

Actual Results:
Do it.

Expected Results:
~45 second freeze followed by crash.

Reproducible: Always

Additional Info:

2019-09-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127297

Bug ID: 127297
Summary: EPUB: recorded changes are included even if View of
them is off
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.2.4.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: gerhard.we...@t-online.de

Created attachment 153822
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=153822=edit
source line in Writer and result in EPUB

If a Writer document contains tracked changes, but View -> Track Changes is
off, these changes are still exported into the EPUB File.
This behaviour is different from PDF Export, where the tracked changes are only
exported if View -> Track Changes is on.
EPUB Export should behave like PDF Export, as this is what people would await.
The attachment shows one line of a Writer document (above) and the
corresponding line in the EPUB document exported when View - Track Changes was
off.

File with rotated line, created by Word97

Open attached document. It contains a line, which is vertical because it has
been rotated. Save the document as .doc with a new name. Reopen the newly saved
document. Notice that the line is now horizontal.

It is OK in Version: 5.1.6.1

CPU Threads: 8; OS Version: Windows 6.2; UI Render: default;

CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 6.19; UI render: default;
Locale: de-DE (en_US); Calc: CL

It is a "file save" error, because the document saved by 5.1.6.1 shows correct
in 5.4.7.2. And the other way round, the document saved by 5.4.7.2 shows the
missing rotation in 5.1.6.1 too.

Indeed, if we can't reproduce this, it's difficult to help.

It does not work when I disable OpenGl. The behavior is the same as when OpenGl

I noticed another hint on what is going on. In some cases manually clicking on
the slideshow screen when it is on the 2nd slide (with black screen) will then
show the correct 2nd slide and then advance to the 3rd slide.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Load file into Impress.
2.Press F5 to start slide show mode.
3.Wait a few seconds until it automatically advances to slide 2
4.Screen is black for me
5.Wait 10 seconds more and click in slideshow screen
6.Slideshow screen shows 2nd graphic and then advances to 3rd graphic

The HSQLDB version is very old 1.8 but according to
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HSQLDB, there's 2.5.0 version release in June
2019
We didn't upgrade HSQLDB to focus on Firebird which isn't dependent on Java +
can be used as embedded.

Still happens with LO 6.3.0.4 and MSO 2013.

Maybe you could take a look at these files? They are tiny and maybe person with
knowledge of XLSX format would spot the reason quickly?

This may look like a tiny inconvenience, but actually is a show-stopper if you
need to use comments and collaborate with MSO user.

  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: pantherechar...@yahoo.ca

Description:
LibreOffice French version: 6.3.0.4 (x64)
Build ID: 057fc023c990d676a43019934386b85b21a9ee99
System: Windows-10 professionnal update 1903

I use the Windows "Snipping Tool" (old version) to make a snapshot of a slide
of Impress in full windows mode. But when I try to do this, the full page slide
goes off and I only take a snapshot of all my windows background with the progs
already open ...

I was able to do this with the previous version of LibreOffice ...
Thanks !

Steps to Reproduce:
1.start the "Snippit tool" of windows
2.In Impress, push the F5 button
3.push the CTRL-Print Screen button and the snapshot resulted in an NON full
windows of the Impress slide

Actual Results:
A snapshot off all the screen before I push the "F5" button

Expected Results:
An full screen snapshot of my slide

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

There are components in Base, which require Java. So I will set this
enhancement-request to NEW. But I don't see any developer-team for switching
the whole content of Report-Builder from Java to C++.

Going away from Java isn't the only reason for Firebird-database. HSQLDB is
very old and we need a database, which isn't at the end of life and has some
special functions like DATEADD or LIST in Firebird.

For "Insert" this information is not needed. But users should get a hint, that
further information is available. I suggest, that a section "Related Topics" is
added here, same as it exists on a lot of other pages. Links to "About Layers"
(layers -- definition) and "Working with Layers" (layers -- working with) seem
appropriate to me.

Writer doesn't have the concept of a continuous break, so it has to emulate
that with sections. Word combines page styles and section settings into a
single concept, but writer has them distinctly separated. Since the emulation
is working without a negative effect, I'm marking this as won't fix. This is an
EXTREMELY tricky area to deal with and has lots of bug reports. (see bug 81426
for example.)

I'm going to mark this as a duplicate of bug 118812. A table style is applied
which has single spacing in the paragraph properties which overwrites the
default paragraph style 1.5 spacing.

However, it is more than that. It looks like a fundamental difference between
Word and Writer - because even if you directly apply paragraph properties to
1.5 (or double, or proportional 300% etc), nothing changes visibly since Writer
apparently does not consider these cells to be consecutive paragraphs, and
therefore doesn't apply the spacing. (It WOULD apply the spacing within the
cell if there were multiple lines...)

It could also be considered a duplicate of bug 119054 and related to bug
118947.

Because nobody can reproduce the problem I have made further tests.

I have reset all settings to default settings and also reset all settings of
the user interface, but not reset all settings in my user profile.
After this I could resp. can open the test document and also any other odt
documents.

I can change the user interface without problems from "Default" (?, in German
"Standard") to "Compact" and/or to "Sidebar".

But LO crashes when any (!) odt document is open and I change UI to "in
registers", "in registers compact", "in groups compact" or "depending on
context compact".

After a restart of LO 6.4.0.0 LO crashes when I try to open any odt document.

Therefore I make more precise the bug description.

ods documments are not affected by the problem.
