"Decimal Separator key - Same as locale setting" does not mean "use decimal
separator as defined in system". Instead, it means "when user presses numpad
"." button, should LibreOffice insert the character that system sends to the
application (option unchecked) or the character defined in the locale *used in
LibreOffice* as decimal separator (option checked)" [1]. Note that this results
in different *text* being entered into the place where current edit is
performed; and what happens with that *text* later is unrelated to the setting:
LibreOffice will then treat the string using its normal processing, and if the
resulting string does not form a valid number in the locale used in
LibreOffice, it will rightfully *not* become a number then.

This is two different things:

1. LibreOffice does not use custom format settings/codes defined in Windows
(tdf#73242);
2. Misconception of what is "Decimal Separator key - Same as locale setting".

The latter option - "Decimal Separator key - Same as locale setting" - does not
mean what you want it to mean ("use decimal separator as defined in system").
Instead, it means "when user presses numpad "." button, should LibreOffice
insert the character that system sends to the application (option unchecked) or
the character defined in the locale *used in LibreOffice* as decimal separator
(option checked)" [1]. Note that this results in different *text* being entered
into the place where current edit is performed; and what happens with that
*text* later is unrelated to the setting: LibreOffice will then treat the
string using its normal processing, and if the resulting string does not form a
valid number in the locale used in LibreOffice, it will rightfully *not* become
a number then.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 130577] FILEOPEN: XLSX import looses defined range definitions

2020-02-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130577

The problem seems to be that excel allows name ranges that Calc does not.
I.e. H_o/t, \delta

Naming Convention for Named Ranges in Excel

There are certain naming rules you need to know while creating Named Ranges in
Excel:

The first character of a Named Range should be a letter and underscore
character(_), or a backslash(\). If it’s anything else, it will show an error.
The remaining characters can be letters, numbers, special characters, period,
or underscore.
You can not use names that also represent cell references in Excel. For
example, you can’t use AB1 as it is also a cell reference.
You can’t use spaces while creating named ranges. For example, you can’t
have Sales Rep as a named range. If you want to combine two words and create a
Named Range, use an underscore, period or uppercase characters to create it.
For example, you can have Sales_Rep, SalesRep, or SalesRep.
While creating named ranges, Excel treats uppercase and lowercase the
same way. For example, if you create a named range SALES, then you will not be
able to create another named range such as ‘sales’ or ‘Sales’.
A Named Range can be up to 255 characters long.

You can fill two cells, A1 and A2 with exp 200 select them and then drag them
down and you will have in all cells the value 200

You can also ctrl+c select all cells you need and then ctrl+v

Yes i can reproduce but still i think its the way drag and drop works

Best regards

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 130496] Implement a PIM as a replacement for Outlook

2020-02-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130496

Outlook is one component of the MS Office Suite. No more "separate" than Word
is separate from Excel or Power Point.

While I understand there are other open source Outlook like products available,
I and many businesses would prefer to have a Complete Integrated Suite from a
single vendor. There are other open source word processors, spreadsheet
programs, database programs, etc... But I'd rather have a complete suite from
LO than a bunch of separate, incompatible programs.

Maybe there's some reason LO doesn't want to compete with Thunderbird, I don't
know. But I think LO would gain a lot more users if they included an Outlook
like module in their suite. I'm really curious as to why LO doesn't want to do
that? It can't be any harder than the other components they've done. It just
doesn't make any sense.

Dear Katarina Behrens (CIB),

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

As part of resolving this issue consider improving the existing documentation.

(a) I have made some suggestions for 'Wrap' and 'Compatibility' nodes.

(b) Event after all those suggestions, I am still left with one question ...

How do I wrap text around header images in "Microsoft Word" compatible way?

The help documentation (or the Writer Guide) should tell me how to do it.
(Right now, the documentation advises me to sacrifice compatibility ... and
anyone who shares documents with others will have reservations about
sacrificing MS compatibility)

A quick Google search suggests, that wrapping text around header images does
crop up very often, and I would very much want to the alternative means to
achieve it in "compatible" manner.

Ok. Thanks. I am now seeing that the text is wrapped around header image.

I would appreciate if you could consider improving documentation as a part of
resolving this bug.

1. The contextual Help for 'Wrap' (i.e.,
https://help.libreoffice.org/6.4/en-US/text/swriter/01/05060200.html?=WRITER=UNIX)
MUST link to the 'Compatibility' node, and specifically mention that wrapping
behaviour on

2. The 'Compatibility' (i.e.,
https://help.libreoffice.org/6.4/en-US/text/shared/optionen/01041000.html?DbPAR=SHARED#bm_id3577990)
says

> To access this command...
> Open a text document, choose Tools - Options - LibreOffice Writer - >
> Compatibility.
> Some of the settings defined here are only valid for the current document and
> must be defined separately for each document.

The node should tell clearly which of the options are per-document options. I
confirm that the ""Use OpenOffice.org 1.1 text wrapping around objects" is a
per-document option. The 'settings.xml' now has

```
   true
```

> Use OpenOffice.org 1.1 text wrapping around objects

> Microsoft Word and Writer have different approaches on wrapping text around
> floating screen objects. Floating screen object are Writer frames and drawing
> objects, and the objects 'text box', 'graphic', 'frame', 'picture' etc. in
> Microsoft Word.

(IIUC, this is no longer true. As far as wrapping on header text is concerned,
LibreOffice works in "compatible" mode.)

My suggestion remove the above paragraph.

> In Microsoft Word and in current versions of Writer, page header/footer
> content and footnote/endnote content does not wrap around floating screen
> objects. Text body content wraps around floating screen objects which are
> anchored in the page header.

This paragraph is very very confusing on some many levels.

a) "current version" ===> "current" here means /whenever/ StarOffice 8 or
OpenOffice.org 2.0 was released. That is "current" refers to some ancient
time.

b) The first sentence says "does NOT wrap" and the second sentence says
"wraps". This is confusing. The second sentences also seems to suggest
that besides various anchor points like character, paragraph, frame etc. there
is one more anchor point called "page header". When I invoke the UI for
object's anchor there really is no way to "anchor to page header".

(This paragraph has to moved / copied to the 'Wrap' help node)

I suggest the following re-wording ...

By default, the page header/footer content and footnote/endnote
content does not wrap around floating screen objects. This behaviour
is same as how Microsoft Word treats these objects. In order to wrap
text around floating screen objects, in header/footer or
footnote/endnote turn on "Use OpenOffice.org 1.1 text wrapping around
objects"

> In Writer versions prior to StarOffice 8 or OpenOffice.org 2.0, the opposite
> was true.
> If the option is off, which is the default setting, the new text wrapping
> will be applied. If the option is on, the former text wrapping will be
> applied.

(This may be of interest to LibreOffice developers. This is of no interest to
 "current" users of LibreOffice)

My suggestion ... Remove this paragraph.

I think what you need alongside of LibreOffice is Thunderbird, which is an

Actually I think MSO's outlook function is also a separate part.

Thanks Stuart. WFM too (after I used "including styles") Did not notice that
"Paragraph Styles" changed to "Including Styles" (after "format" was set).
(now I understand how to find my character styles).

(as casual comment -- of course F dialog box is busy, but there is good space
under "Attribute" and "Format" buttons and maybe "including styles" should be
appearing there (greyed out, until something is set) (and not "hidden" under
Paragraph Styles) (#learning from Heiko)

Data Fields

And Alt + 'label underlined letter' works. (Added entry for Fields in table)

Alt+O is OK, closes dialog. Removed because of irrelevance in Pivot context

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 130574] New: Double clicking headings in navigator's content navigation view changes document's zoom setting

2020-02-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130574

Bug ID: 130574
Summary: Double clicking headings in navigator's content
navigation view changes document's zoom setting
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: matthewa...@gmail.com

I've set my documents' "view > zoom" setting to be "Optimal View" by default.
For the most part, this setting persists unless I change it intentionally. The
problem is when I double click on a heading in the sidebar's navigator (which I
have set to content navigation view). I expect the document to jump to where
the heading is and the zoom setting to remain unchanged. The document does jump
to where the heading is, but the document also shifts horizontally to the
right. Setting zoom to "Optimal View" fixes this, but having to do so each time
after using the navigator to jump to a heading seems like it might be a bug.

In the meanwhile I changed my distro. I am using Zorin OS now. I tried again
and it is working well. Maybe it is an issue of the fonts? I dont know. I think
it would be nice if their would be a possibility to buy a licence for a
complete package of Windows fonts. That could solve some many problems in
compatibility.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 130034] Consistent look and feel for color pickers in Sidebar

2020-02-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130034

I think I would prefer to remove the color name labeling across all the
controls--and then have consistent tooltip with the 'color name' (RGB, HLC,
tonal) as taken from the selected palette.

I don't see too much need for the label. We show the color swatch for selected
color, and can show the palette it came from. Likewise for gradient the swatch
is visible, and can identify the palette it is being taken from.

IIRC the gradients used to be fixed, but now we can mix and match palettes.

What do we gain by shrinking the color swatch to add a textual label?

Simplify the 'Gradient' fill UI to match the 'Color' fills--remove the labels!

But do provide the assigned color name/RGB value in tooltip. That is replace
the "Fill color", "Fill gradient from", "Fill gradient to" tooltips with the
color name (or value).

Obviously filter import of ODF document colors would only match color names
against 'standard' palette, palette in use is not recorded into the ODF.

And, this is just for labeling the color fills (Color, Gradient), the patterned
fills (Hatching, Bitmap, Pattern) make sense to have the labels.

So can we go with dropdown menu with color rectangular and label?

I think this would be a big step into standardize the sidebar layout AND will

OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: michael.me...@collabora.com

Help->About shows some useful data from LOOLWSD which is injected into the main
page template: online/loleaflet/html/loleaflet.html.m4 - which is built by
'config.status'.

Anyhow - we should include another variable into this, which we can fill in in
online/wsd/FileServer.cxx with another Poco::replaceInPlace - with the contents
of /etc/os-release's PRETTY_NAME - so we can help diagnose platform-specific
issues more easily.

For bonus points we should also remove the 'Poco' bits, and parse the string
into a stringstream - and lookup each variable as/when we find it - rather than
re-searching through the whole message endlessly for various different
variables to substitute: faster, more efficient, and de-poco-ized.

Thanks !

Please feel free to update the code pointers properly, and re-add the easyHack

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129993] FILEOPEN: LWP: files with tables/columns don't open after LO3.3.4, broken formatting

2020-02-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129993

Can't seem to edit my post, so I'll try to fix the formatting here:

Thank you very much for your hard work and sorry for the delay.

Tested in 6.4.0.3
Lotus invoice test.lwp - opens, table missing
Lotus testfile.lwp - General input/output error.
Lotus testfile - just without columns.lwp- General input/output error.
Lotus testfile - just without table.lwp - General input/output error.
Lotus testfile - without table - opens

Tested in 7.0.0.0alpha+
Lotus invoice test.lwp - opens, with table(!), some tabs
in both lines of the header seem missing
Lotus testfile.lwp - opens, table missing
Lotus testfile - just without columns.lwp - opens, table missing
Lotus testfile - just without table.lwp - opens, columns missing
Lotus testfile - without table - opens

In every case, bold/cursive/subscript/superscript, text color, lists, columns
and text adjustment are lost.
Interestingly, underlining is lost only in Lotus testfile.lwp, but is retained
in Lotus invoice test.lwp
Tables are mostly lost, but retained in "Lotus invoice test.lwp" - that is 1 in
9 cases that I tested.

Could you perhaps improve it so that the whole textual content is displayed
regardless of formatting?
Or could you display a warning when importing closed formats that content might
have been lost upon import and encourage users to use the original program to
export important documents to formats better suited for archival?

I know quality is subjective, but the Default GDI rendering seems crispest. The

You can fix any C++ header (.hxx) file. You can find them by using a command
like this on linux terminal while in the core directory: git grep #ifndef

Please make sure your clone of the core git repo is up to date, and do not
create a large patch. (Not exceeding 50 lines of change might be a good idea
for quick reviews.)

  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: b...@kanka.de

Example: When a cell filled with the number 200 is dragged on the edge to cells
below in the column, these are filled with increments 201, 202 etc.
This also happens when Tools > Autoinput is unchecked.

Expected behaviour:
The value 200 should appear in all the cells of the selection.

The envelope has gotten worse. In the past I could correct the envelope from
"User" to "#10" envelope and the size would become correct. However, after the
latest LibreOffice update to Version: 6.4.0.3 the envelope now has a header
that is impossible to get rid of. LibreOffice is now totally useless for
printing envelopes. For the record, my preferred printer is a Brother
MFC-L2710DW but the problem is also present with both of my other printers;
Brother HL-2140 and Brother MFC-J430W.

Hi,
on the left, there is a red cell in the second row. The text "Rechtschreibung"
can't read (not shown) and can't be edited -> Popup of "Content write

With the Version: 6.3.3 the cell could at least be read and edited. Now with
the new version it is not possible anymore.

It was a microsoft word file.
