[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51936] New: Run-time link error (warning?) messages at every start-up

2012-07-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon

 Bug #: 51936

Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: james_av...@yahoo.com

I'm testing Libre Office 3.6 Beta 2 on Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit. Some error/warning
messages appear on the terminal at every start-up. They look nasty but the
product seems to work, so presumably they affect only certain features:

$ /opt/lodev3.6/program/swriter
/opt/lodev3.6/program/../ure-link/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.11'
not found (required by /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libproxy.so.1)
Failed to load module: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gio/modules/libgiolibproxy.so

This occurred on a stock 11.10 system after downloading the deb tar for lodev
and installing all the debs (with sudo deb -i -R DEBS).

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Roman.

I guess it would be best to just switch to the normal progress meter on Mac,
too, given how the blue bar now clashes even more than before.

I think the culprit is NativeProgress = 1 in the Mac equivalent of sofficerc
– ít seems to do nothing on Windows Linux, but on Mac apparently draws a
native progress meter.
I am not quite sure how to set that from within the source code repo and can't

I guess it would be best to just switch to the normal progress meter on Mac,
too, given how the blue bar now clashes even more than before.

IMHO this would be a good solution. Long-time Mac users like me are used to the
native blue progress bar, of course, and we should stay with it in (most) other
places, but in the splash screen and in the about box many applications use
custom controls and special effects (to show what the programmers are able to
do), so it seems OK to use a custom progress bar there. (And our custom
progress bar looks very nice in the new splash screen, of course! :-)

I think the culprit is NativeProgress = 1 in the Mac equivalent of sofficerc
 – ít seems to do nothing on Windows Linux, but on Mac apparently draws a
 native progress meter.
I am not quite sure how to set that from within the source code repo and can't
really try either (lacking a Mac).

Thorsten will know best about these implementation details.

If I -- as a simple QA volunteer -- can help in any way, e.g. by testing a
tentative build, just drop me a note.

STR_TEMPLATE_NAME1, STR_TEMPLATE_NAME2, etc. instead of
STR_TEMPLATE_NAME_ABSTRACT_RED. This way old translations can be paired to
new/changed English string. Such errors disappear when I update po files with
latest templates, which I do regularly, but when a feauture is integrated in
the last minute, I have no chance to do that.

Hello Kohei,
hello Markus,

can you please take a look at this Calc issue? It is a clear regression in
LibreOffice 3.6 against 3.5, it makes navigating through the comments
impossible, and therefore will affect many experienced Calc users. And maybe it
is easy to fix. It would be very nice to get this fixed before 3.6 goes final.

Thank you very much in advance!

The short route would be to use the ibpp api it is battle tested in flamerobin
codebase and quite stable

Another route is to create a small wrapper over the c api like is done in the
node js driver
https://github.com/xdenser/node-firebird-libfbclient/tree/master/src

And of course the future the clean firebird 3.0 api could be used

REPRODUCIBLE on MacOS X 10.6.8 (Intel) German UI with
* LibreOffice 3.5.4.2, Build-ID: 165a79a-7059095-e13bb37-fef39a4-9503d18
* LibreOffice 3.6.0.0.beta3 (Build ID: 3e2b862)
When I try to open Alexey's sample file (crash.xml.xls) with these
LibreOffice versions, LibreOffice takes a long time to open the file and
crashes while still in progress of opening the file, before opening a document
window.

Additionally, on MacOS X 10.6.8 (Intel) German UI with
* LibreOffice 3.4.0, OOO340m1 (Build:12)
* LibreOffice 3.4.6, OOO340m1 (Build:602)
just report a General input/output error. when I try to open the file.

However, Apache OpenOffice (AOO) 3.4.0 on the same machine opens the file
without problems (but it takes a long time!).

The log files generated by MacOS X 10.6.8 for the crash with LibreOffice
3.5.4.2 and 3.6.0.0.beta3 both look just like Alexey's crash report, but I will
attach the crash log file for 3.6.0.0.beta3 for the sake of confirmation and
completeness.

NB: Changing the file name (e.g., to crash.xml) does not change the
situation.

Libreoffice segfaults when I open a specific docx file. An older version of the

Unfortunately I'm not at liberty to post the actual document here but I have a

--- Comment #8 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-07-10 09:57:32 PDT ---
Looks like this is a file size/row count problem: if I delete almost all rows
from the file, so that there are only three rows (with 5 cells each) left,
LibreOffice 3.6.0.0.beta3 (Build ID: 3e2b862) opens the file without any
problems. And all the rows are identical (empty), of course, no strange invalid
UTF-8 characters or something similar (I have checked with a text editor).

But I don't understand why this file is so big that this should cause any
problems for LibreOffice: there are only 710 rows with 5 cells each. This is
much for a human being but should be easy to handle for a modern computer
application ;-) At least, there should not be any crash.

Hello Kohei,
hello Markus,
hello Thorsten,

I have added your e-mail address to the CC list of this bug report because you
are our Calc (Kohei, Markus) or Mac (Thorsten) experts, and this is a
(appearently) MacOS-only Calc issue. But even if it is confined to a single
platform, the bug is still of some importance because it leads to a crash and
it is hard to say why LibreOffice crashes on this big, but very simple file
(AOO does NOT crash, but opens the file without problems!). So it would be very
nice if you could take a look at this issue. Thank you very much in advance!

2 ppt files : intro.ppt is the first you can open it and try to go to the other
file via the link...

Problem description:
When using some ppt files, if there are some link to other ppt or video, every
link are broken because the url is wrong.

Steps to reproduce:
1. create 2 ppt under ms powerpoint
2. link the first to the second
3. try to open it in libreoffice and it will not manage to reach the second one
using the link because th url is file:///the_name_of_the_seconfile.ppt

Current behavior:
I've got a message file:///the_name_of_the_seconfile.ppt doesn't exist !

Expected behavior:
Open the linked file !

I have the same issue with linked video and images...

Platform (if different from the browser):
Gnu/linux (debian and ubuntu) and Ms windows (windows 7)

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/13.0.1

Sadly it is ~impossible to debug LibreOffice on windows without Fridrich
completing his symbol server work.

If you can reproduce your problem from a blank document; that'd be wonderful.
Or perhaps you can reproduce it with a cut-down sheet with =RAND() instead of
numbers in it (or something).

Needless to say calc doesn't crash/hang copying/pasting things around normally
for me at least; so unless we have clear steps to reproduce it, or a stack
trace [ Fridrich ? ] we can't really move here.

Several dialogues show a tilde (~) in front of the system buttons OK and
Cancel. See attached screenshots for details. It looks like for LibreOffice's
own buttons, there is no problem.

This might also be a localization bug instead of UI.

OS/Version: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Using writer, setting the text color is broken.

- Setting any text color other than the pre-defined red does not have any
impact
- Removing the red text color does not work either

The same is true for setting the text background:

- Setting any background color other than the pre-defined yellow does not have
any impact
- Removing the yellow text color does not work either

A common characteristic of the buttons with the ~ in your screenshots is that
they have no keyboard shortcut. Can you confirm that as a general relation?

Hello

Edit Changes Accept/Reject automatically checks Edit Changes Show.

This is needed to see deletions for example. Problem is that in this mode user
can't see the format updates.

If user A applies green font and underlining color to a text, user B will see
the change in the user color (may be blue, yellow or anything else...).

So user B has to accept/reject the change without seeing the effect.

We should perhaps think about improving this feature, perhaps by adding the
ability to switch show mode from this dialog ?

Regards
Pierre-Yves

(1) I have reported the segfault to the psql-odbc list. The thread
archive starts at
http://archives.postgresql.org/pgsql-odbc/2012-07/msg0.php.

(2) After I fudged the return value from PGAPI_SpecialColumns to avoid the
segfault, the column heading in the data display correctly showed the
rename that I specified in the SELECT list. This is another reason to
question whether we need the funny call to SQLSpecialColumns at all.

export _CFLAGS and _LIBS variables
2. export _CFLAGS and _LIBS variables in config_host.mk.in
3. add new externals for gstreamer and xrender to RepositoryExternal.mk

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 35663] complex.sfx2.UndoManager fails

2012-07-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35663

--- Comment #12 from Kohei Yoshida kohei.yosh...@gmail.com 2012-07-10

(In reply to comment #11)
ah there is already a bug about this; so indeed only the Calc part
 of the UndoManager test fails.

note that last week some commits from CWS fs34b were merged that
changed the SfxUndoManager to no longer count the DisableUndo calls
but instead maintain a simple boolean flag.

Kohei, could you please check if that changes anything for
Calc, and if you can make the test work again?

I re-enabled the test and ran make check, but I still get this:

finished class: complex.sfx2.UndoManager

Time: 14.171
There was 1 failure:
1) checkCalcUndo(complex.sfx2.UndoManager)
java.lang.AssertionError: Undo manager gets unlocked as a side effect of
performing a simple operation
at complex.sfx2.UndoManager.impl_testLocking(UndoManager.java:774)
at complex.sfx2.UndoManager.impl_checkUndo(UndoManager.java:630)
at complex.sfx2.UndoManager.checkCalcUndo(UndoManager.java:125)

FAILURES!!!
Tests run: 12, Failures: 1

So, I guess the coast is not yet clear.

REPRODUCIBLE with
* LibreOffice 3.6.0.0.beta3 (Build ID: 3e2b862),
* LibreOffice 3.6.0.0.beta2 (Build ID: f010139)
both with German langpack installed, on MacOS X 10.6.8 German.

Just create a new Writer document, type some text and try to set the text color
and/or the background color. As Florian Effenberger wrote, it is not possible
to set any other text color/background color than the pre-defined Red text
color and Yellow background color (and even this does not work always in my
tests). And if you have set the text color to Red or the background color to
yellow you can't reset them to black and transparent respectively anymore.

Regression.

 all?

Ah yes, I had missed that; I was so focused on the CatalogName and SchemaName
 NULL vs empty string.

Fair enough; LibO should not call it with empty string for TableName, and this
 should be fixed.

This *also* has its roots in an ODBC driver problem. The structure is as such:

For each column in the query, LibO:

 - asks the driver which table does this column come from by calling

   SQLColAttribute(m_aStatementHandle,
   1,
ident, |
   |75 (SQLPOINTER)pName,
 |
   |76 nRealLen,
 |
   |77 nRealLen,
 |
   |78 NULL
 |
   |79  );
 |

 - store the answer in sTableName
 - calls SQLSpecialColumns(..., sTablename, ...)

A funny thing happened on the way to the crash: In PGAPI_SpecialColumns,
info.c line 2783 detects the null table name, so line 2785 does
  SC_set_error and then line 2786 returns SQL_SUCCESS. SQL_SUCCESS sounds
to me like an outright lie. If in SQLSPecialColumns I fudge the return
value to SQL_ERROR, then LibreOffice ...

(*) Goes on to call SQLSpecialColumns with good catalog, schema, and
table names. This call looks very much like what I remember from
  the successful query.

(*) Goes on to display the table data.

The SQL_SUCCESS sounds to me like a candidate for reporting upstream, as
does the segfault itself. LEM, do you agree?

Yes, the segfault, with the explanation about SQL_SUCCESS/SQL_ERROR should be
reported upstream. Could you do that (and CC me)? Thanks.
