https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37964 --- Comment #10 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-08-19 07:37:34 UTC --- (In reply to comment #9) You should insert a formula in a document IA writer OK, so I have tried it again with LibreOffice 3.5.6.2 (Build ID: e0fbe70-dcba98b-297ab39-994e618-0f858f0) and with LibreOffice 3.6.1.1 (Build ID: 4db6344), both on MacOS X 10.6.8 (Intel). My steps: 1) Start LibreOffice 2) Create a new Writer document 3) Type Text A 4) Choose Insert Object Formula 5) Type f(x) 6) Click after the formula; the formula is italic (correct) 7) Double-click the formula and change it, e.g. to y = f(x) 8) Click after the formula; the formula is italic (correct) 9) Type Text B 10) Click on the formula and press Command + C 11) Click after Text B and press Command + V, to get a copy of the formula 12) Double-click the formula and edit it, e.g. to y = x^2 + 2 x + 1 13) Click after the formula; the formula is still italic (correct) So I can’t confirm this issue, sorry; for me, everything works as expected. (Of course, only the variables are italic, like 'x' and 'y', but this is correct; constants like the numbers (figures: '1', '2', etc.) and operators ('+', '=' etc.) and functions ('sin' 'cos' 'tan') should never be italic.) @ Víctor Hugo Suárez Candal: I really like to help you via confirming this issue, but as said above I can’t. Can you please try to explain if you do something different; i.e., where is the difference between my steps listed above and what you do until the formula is no more italic? [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 49145] EDITING: Form-Wizard should propose listfields for foreign keys in a table
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49145 --- Comment #9 from Alex Thurgood ipla...@yahoo.co.uk 2012-08-19 09:44:37 UTC --- (In reply to comment #6) In fact I wasn't thinking of the form-wizard. I was thinking of the plain grid-like table data editor: I was thinking of enhancing it to become an intelligent grid, containing listboxes in some columns, plain text boxes in other columns, ...and in the future perhaps also dropdown-calendar boxes for date fields. Something like what is possible in MS Access or FMPro then ? In other words, having data aware controls in the table view or the grid control. I know that this has already been requested in the past (I would need to look up the bug number(s)), certainly at least for OOo, or on the previous OOo dba mailing lists, and I seem to recall that Lionel Mamane, the main base dev of the LO project had also considered that as one possible enhancement to the Base feature set. However, I would imagine that that would be no mean feat, as it would probably require extending the current model-view-control paradigm. I'm not utterly convinced that this would be confusing for users, since other db UI programs seem to do OK out of having such functionality, and it is hypocritical of us to say that we would be blurring the lines between data presentation/maniuplation via the form paradigm and simple data display via the table paradigm, when a user can actually enter data directly into the table anyway. If one were to be really strict about the separative approach, a user would just be able to create a table by hand or with the wizard, and then BE OBLIGED to create a form to enter data into it. At the moment, that simply isn't the case, and certainly doesn't represent what happens in other equivalent products. I would say that this is a valid RFE, but IMO it is a duplicate of one that is already somewhere in the system or at least has been discussed on the dev list (or IRC) previously. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53412] Silent fail on RTFD file open attempt
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53412 --- Comment #1 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-08-19 10:16:04 UTC --- Created attachment 65764 -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=65764 A simple RTFD sample file (compressed as ZIP archive to allow me to attach it) REPRODUCIBLE with LibreOffice 3.6.1.1 (Build ID: 4db6344), German langpack installed, on MacOS X 10.6.8 (Intel). When you try to open a .rtfd file, LibreOffice shows in in the file selection dialog (suggesting that it is able to open that file!), but if you click OK nothing happens. IMHO we would need an enhancement request for the ability to open .rtfd files (there is no guarantee that LibO can open them, so it is not a bug that it can’t do so ;-); but it is a *bug* that LibreOffice just fails silently on any attempt to open them -- therefore I leave this as bug report. To find out more about .rtfd files, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RTFD A .rtfd file (Rich Text Format Directory) is not a simple file, but a bundle, i.e. a special kind of directory, which contains both the main RTF data (in a file called TXT.rtf) and all images, just as image files. Insofar .rtfd files are similar to .odt files, just that they are not compressed and are based on RTF, not on XML. Matt Rosin is right that .rtfd files are common on MacOS X, and therefore it would be nice if LibreOffice could handle them. I see three possible stages of .rtfd support: a) Give a meaninful error message on attempts to open .rtfd files, instead of failing silently. This is a really important bug fix. b) First enhacement level: On attempts to open .rtfd files, just open the TXT.rtf file inside of them, to recover at least the text and formatting. This should be rather easy to implement. c) Second enhancement level: Open the TXT.rtf file inside of the .rtfd file AND insert all images from the .rtfd file directly into the resulting document (embedding images instead of linking them). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

It's annoying and reminds of buginess each time one use Libre Office. Perhaps this bug is specific to OS X. This should not happen, failed INSERTS (haven't tested UPDATE) should not cause the autoincrement counter to increment itself. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53708 --- Comment #2 from Alex Thurgood ipla...@yahoo.co.uk 2012-08-19 11:35:36 UTC --- How to reproduce : 1) Create an embedded (default) hsqldb database file, with a table containing the following fields : - autoincrement NOT NULL id field which is also primary key (default behaviour in LO) - a text field with a string value length set to 10, 2) Save the table as Table1, then open the table for editing, then tab (tabulation key) from id field to text field, and enter a data string longer than 10 characters, say 20 characters, then try to tab into a new record. 3) You should get an error message indicating that your string length exceeds the definition allowed by the table. 4) Edit the string to delete 1 or 2 characters, and try again. 5) The message will repeat itself until the string length matches that defined in the field (all of this is normal). 6) When you finally get a string which is not longer than that defined, the INSERT will succeed, but the autoincrement field will contain a value that corresponds to the failed number of attempts. Expected behaviour : the autoincrement field should only insert the default value, ignoring any failed INSERTS, i.e. the counter shouldn't be updated for each failed operation. If you want to see whether it is a duplicate, search in bugzilla or the dev mailing list (ESC minutes ??) for data aware control or something like that. It is a recurring request, and has been since OOo days. The fact that nothing has been done about it is irrelevant, other than an indication that to implement the desired features requires more work than would appear on the surface. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53636] : Problem with language pack install on OSX
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53636 --- Comment #4 from Alex Thurgood ipla...@yahoo.co.uk 2012-08-19 13:05:38 UTC --- (In reply to comment #3) Earlier reports about problems with langpack installation on MacOS X: * Bug 33682 - MacOS(X) langpack_zh-TW install failed (Chinese and Portuguese) * Bug 35717 - Error installing Estonian language pack (Esthonian) * Bug 36712 - problem when installing Spanish (Spanish) * Bug 43392 - Problem with installation of langage pack (French) * Bug 45621 - Corrupted characters in langpack installers under Mac OS X PPC Maybe we could mark some of these reports as duplicates, but most (all?) of them are not reproducible (easily) ... And most were with PPC machines, if I remember correctly. The feeling I got from previous discussions with devs on this issues was that the pack could be manually installed from the command line, so it was not a really problematic issue in the end. Of course, if there are so few PPC users out there, it makes it hard for us in QA to try and move this forward.
