No , not exactly , it's a request for a simple copy and single \ multiple paste
design . A ^C ^V sequence would be fine . It's a matter of keeping it simple -
ie. good engineering and ergonomic design - have the operations being carried
out as quickly as possible .

Without the file data or data types used in the columns, it is going to be
difficult to reproduce this bug.

Also, which locale are you using ?

I' on Mac OSX 10.8.1 and would be willing to give it a try.

 Thanks, I didn't know about that one. But after several attempts, how does it
 work?

 What does the Level list on the left do? If I want style Foo to be on level 2,
 what do I do? Looks like that dialog surely could use a redesign.

This bug tracker is not a helpdesk. Please ask for help on users mailing-list
or on AskLibo : http://ask.libreoffice.org/questions/

Closing as WorksForMe. Please feel free to open a new bug report (as
enhancement) if you have some improvement in the dialog to suggest.

Best regards. JBF

I think having two dropdown lists would make it even more overwhelming.

Having that the bug title is Simplify file open dialog... I would focus on
solving the entire height of the display issue. Maybe we can group all the
Microsoft formats in a row (like Text docuements(...) as it already is, but
only Microsoft Office (...) because they are displayed each one in a row and
it occupies most of the dropdown list.

OK, I try to give some more background.
I have a dual boot system with Windows XP and Ubunto.
I just updated my system from Ubunto 10.04 to 12.04. (Swedish language)
Doing so the OpenOffice suite was substituted by
LibreOffice 3.5.4.2
Build ID: 350m1(Build:2)

This is what happens when I open the xlsx file.

1. I lauch LibreOffice Calc from the launcher.
2, Then I use menu command File/Open
3. Click on the file in a folder window
4. In the LibreOffice Calc window loading procedure is indicated
5. When loading indicator reaches 100%, the LibreOffice window just closes.
6. Looking in my folder where the xlsx file is located I notice the the .~lock
file is still there.

If I boot windows XP instead of Ubunto I can open the file with OpenOffice
without problem.

The lower image is rendered in slideshow and obfuscates the footer, which is
clearly visible in 'Normal'. This behaviour is not singular in this slide, but
effects all and any slide in my presentation.

Problem description:

On all my slides, the layout shown in 'Normal' View looks different when shown
as slideshow.

Steps to reproduce:
1. add an image in 'Normal'
2. Press F5
3. Image is slightly, though visibly, shifted lower

This problem still exists in version 3.6.1.2 (Build-id: e29a214), ie for the
function 'WEKEN'. It should be 'WEEKS' in English (See
http://help.libreoffice.org/Calc/Add-in_Functions ).

For now, the option 'Use English function names' isn't usefull since the
function names are now Dutch and English.

If you work backwards from the error message in the code the only place that
can cause it is the call to copy_recursive in
desktop/source/app/userinstall.cxx (to copy from .../presets to .../user)
returns osl::FileBase::E_ACCES.

Alex, can you attach the output of running strace -f

Sorry about that, I was having problems getting the output into a file, as the
man page doesn't tell you that -o has to be place before the -f option... and
then it generated a 3Mb file, which I tried to upload and which of course
failed, sigh...you live and learn ;-)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 54627] New: FILESAVE FILEOPEN: Style inheritance broken after saving OOo 3.2.1 doc

2012-09-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54627

 Bug #: 54627
   Summary: FILESAVE FILEOPEN: Style inheritance broken after
saving OOo 3.2.1 doc
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.7.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: eymux2...@googlemail.com

Created attachment 66768
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=66768
Testdocument created in OOo 3.2.1

When saving and reloading the attached document (created in OOo 3.2.1) with LO,
the paragraph formats 'Above paragraph' and 'Below paragraph' in the style
'Heading 2' are set to 0.0. 'Heading 2' should inherit these settings from
'Heading'. The other styles are unaffected.

Steps to reproduce:
* Open test.odt
* Open the paragraph style 'Heading 2'. In 'Indents Spacing' 'Above
paragraph' has the value 0.42cm, 'Below paragraph' has the value 0.21cm. (If
you're using non-metric units the values will be different.)
* Note the position of the image
* Save the document under a different name
* Reload the document
* The position of the image has changed
* The value of 'Above paragraph' and 'Below paragraph' are now 0.0cm.

I wasn't able to reproduce this bug with other OOo 3.2.1 documents. So this
might be a one time fluke. But since we have thousands of legacy documents, I
find this bug somewhat troublesome.

 Reproduction instructions:

 1) compile LibO with --enable-evolution2 passed to ./autogen.sh
(our official builds don't have that)

 2) run LibreOffice

 3) open attachment 47889 [details]

 4) in the left pane, click on tables

 Actual Behaviour: Error message no SDBC driver found for URL

 Expected behaviour: list of Evolution address books, e.g.: Personal, appears
 in the lower right pane

Yup, works here too.

 My analysis shows that the driver (libevoablo.so) is:

 1) Not installed
 2) Not registered

My analysis shows that that is not true :-)

 This whole install / registration stuff is a bit of a magic blackbox for me.
 For example, the mozab driver somehow ends up in install/program/services.rdb,
 but I cannot find *how* so that I can do the same with evoab. Weirdly, mozab
 is
 not in
 workdir/unxlngx6/Rdb/ure/services.rdb, but it is in
 install/program/services/services.rdb

It is in workdir/unxlngx6/Rdb/uno_services.rdb . ure/services.rdb is for URE
services only.

 I took inspiration from PostgreSQL-SDBC to generate a working evoab.rdb that
 I could drop there. It would maybe be better to put evoab also in services.rdb
 rather than its own file?

It has never had a rdb file of its own, i.e., its service description has
always been placed into services.rdb .

 I tried to hack our install system to do the same with evoab than with
 mozab,
 but failed to have it make what I wanted.

This happens in postprocess/packcomponents/makefile.mk .

 @dtardon: you switched connectivity to gbuild; could you please double-check
 that this regression was not introduced during that switch, in that the
 gbuild
 fails to do what the dmake did? Thanks.

Well, it is evident that it does work at least somewhere :-) It is possible
there is some other condition that is true here but not in your build and which
causes the evoab driver not to be included in the installation. I will double
check for this.

odf file that crashes Preview and Explorer

This files causes Explorer to crash. It is a pdf file that I accidentally
renamed to odf.

The effect: Terrible(!)
It was sitting on my desktop, so it caused Explorer to endlessly crash,
restart, crash again, restart again, etc. etc., because Explorer renders the
Desktop Files and tries to show the preview.

The result: A totally unusable system.

This is easy to fix for a technical user (open cmd via Task Manager and rename
the file) but terrible for the average user.

 So the problem is that the installation routine sets the owner of a users LO
 config to root on startup ?

Could it be that you already had a root-owned /home/alex/.config/lodev/3 tree
before installing/running the 05/09 build?

With the existing /home/alex/.config/lodev moved out of the way, can you check
that neither running /opt/lodev3.6/program/soffice nor sudo dpkg -i *.deb
creates a root-owned /home/alex/.config/lodev/3 tree?

Which does not work. So no work-around. I am on LibreOffice 3.5.4.2

And when I File-Print, I can select Print-Document-Notes. And what I get,

 With the existing /home/alex/.config/lodev moved out of the way, can you check
 that neither running /opt/lodev3.6/program/soffice nor sudo dpkg -i *.deb
 creates a root-owned /home/alex/.config/lodev/3 tree?

Will have a try and report back. The only things I have installed recently are
the TDF 3.6.0.4 build and then daily builds.

UTC ---
So, its not the soffice startup script. I removed lodev from .config, and can
start LO :

/opt/lodev3.6/program/soffice

alex@Aspire-T180 ~ $ ls -al /home/alex/.config/lodev/
total 12
drwxrwxr-x  3 alex alex 4096 2012-09-07 11:30 .
drwxr-xr-x 32 alex alex 4096 2012-09-07 11:30 ..
drwx--  3 alex alex 4096 2012-09-07 11:31

the lodev directory gets created with the right permissions.

Now to try dpkg again.

Not the dpkg installation either, I can start LO no problem after a new
installation of the basic installation package.

The only other things I've installed with the dev installation set have been
the lang pack and help pack for French. Will try re-installing them to see
whether the problem might have come from there.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47368] Many crashes when accessibility enabled on MacOS X

2012-09-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47368

--- Comment #93 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-09-07 09:43:25 UTC ---
(In reply to comment #92)
 Can somebody give *exact* reproduction instructions with LibreOffice 3.6.1 on
 Mac OS X 10.8.1?

I have only Mac OS X 10.6.8, and can reproduce the crash only with the help of
some 3rd party accessibility-related utility (see below), but here are two
step-by-step procedures which crash both LibO 3.6.1 and the current master
build (I can give more such step-by-step procedures if necessary):

I) Adding a cell border in Calc (cf. bug 50467, bug 51791)
--
0) Rename your LibO user profile folder, to make sure that
   there is no influence of any special settings on the test
   (I always do so before such tests).
1) Start LibreOffice;
   - the Start Center window appears.
2) In the Start Center window, click Spreadsheet;
   - a new spreadsheet document is created,
   cell A1 is already selected.
3) Select Format  Cells... from the menu;
   - the Format Cells dialog window appears.
4) Select the tab Borders.
5) At top left, under Line Arrangement / Default,
   select the second item (Set all four borders);
   - the border preview below changes.
6) Click OK.
   - LibreOffice crashes.

II) Selecting a pane in the application Options window
(cf. bug 44807, bug 52147, and probably bug 37913)

0) Rename your LibO user profile folder, to make sure that
   there is no influence of any special settings on the test
   (I always do so before such tests).
1) Start LibreOffice;
   - the Start Center window appears.
2) Select LibreOffice  Preferences... from the menu;
   - the Options dialog window appears.
3) In the list at the left side of the window,
   click on any top-level entry -- I mean, one of the
   entries Load/Save, Language Settings, LibreOffice Base,
   Charts, Internet, which can be unfolded to show the
   sub-entries.
   - Most times LibreOffice will crash now;
   if not, click on another top-level entry.
   It _may_ be necessary that the top-level entry is not
   unfolded, but closed before you click on it.

 Preferably using only the OS's own accessibility tools.

Sorry, this is my big problem: I have never managed to reproduce these crashes
with the OS's own accessibility tools only; strange (maybe this depends on the
Mac OS version? most reports mention Mac OS X 10.7). But I can reproduce the
same crashes as reported by the users when I install some window-management
utility like Moom, Cinch, RightZoom, ShiftIt, BetterSnapTool ... which all rely
on accessibility features.

For the tests given above, I have used RightZoom. What I did:
1) Download it, e.g. from
   http://download.cnet.com/Right-Zoom/3000-18487_4-10909444.html
2) Install it.
3) Start the application RightZoom.
4) In the 2nd tab Applications, select Enable RightZoom in all
   applications.
5) In the 1st tab, check Activate RightZoom
   and click on Apply.
6) Quit the RightZoom application.
7) You can now check in the Terminal via
   top, if the Daemon (with the same name: RightZoom) is running.
z) Later: To remove RightZoom again: start the application;
   in the 1st tab, check Activate RightZoom;
   click Apply.

I have tried with VoiceOver but no crash.

I would guess that the best candidate is not VoiceOver, but Enable access
for assistive devices; this option is the one which is mentioned in most bug
reports.

I think I see the problem: libevoablo.so is installed in optional module
gnome (unconditionally!), which is only added to the installation set if
gconf, gio or gnomevfs are enabled. It is possible that I missed one more
condition during the conversion, but I would rather guess it had already been
broken.

But the component should still be registered in services.rdb ...

ReportedBy: lafcadio6...@gmail.com

Problem description: After updating to version 3.6.1.2, the queries containing
CONCAT() or field1 || field2 fields cannot be directly run without causing
Base to crash. Opening a form containing a listbox populated with such a query
also causes a crash. However, concat fields are still working within the
columns of a subform without causing a crash.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Query example:
SELECT isbn || ' - ' || title AS article, isbn, title, year,
priceEur, hide FROM tableCatalogue WHERE hide = 0 ORDER BY isbn ASC
2. Same behaviour if query written as:
SELECT CONCAT( CONCAT( isbn, ' - ' ), title ) AS article, isbn,
title, year, priceEur, hide FROM tableCatalogue WHERE hide = 0
ORDER BY isbn ASC

Current behavior: CONCAT() causes Base to crash.

OK, thanks, now I got it to crash, with Right Zoom active.

But that was the TDF build of 3.6.1. A self-build of master (built with Clang
from Xcode 4.4.1, with debugging information) did not crash, sigh. I will
juggle my build tres a bit (I am a bit short on disk space on my Mac) and build
a 3.6.1 with the old Xcode 3.2.6 and 10.4 SDK, gcc 4.0, with debugging... that
should correspond to the TDF build.

(It indeed seems essential to clean out your Library/Application
Support/LibreOffice folder between testing different builds of LO for the crash
to happen, for some reason.)

Anyway, FWIW, for me slot 1 in the backtrace is
svx::a11y::AccFrameSelector::LinkStubWindowEventListener(VclSimpleEvent*)+130
(slot 0 is all zeros, as in comment #45).

It turns out the problem was fixed (see Bug 33266) but for some reason it is
reproducible now. I reproduce it with 3.5.4 from Ubuntu 12.04.

Bjoern, could you have a look again? Thanks!

P.S. I manually removed the files provided by the libreoffice-base package
and lcl_isBaseAvailable returns true. I have no idea of that, but there is
another way to check for Base installed:
 SvtModuleOptions().IsModuleInstalled(SvtModuleOptions::E_SDATABASE)

I'm fairly sure this is the problem, so I'll mark this as fixed. But I can't
test it because my local compiler is more recent and doesn't exhibit the same
problem. Here's hoping.

(In reply to comment #1)

Thank you for help!

I have Lubuntu 12.04.
I had Calc version 3.5.xxx from official lubuntu repository installed.
I installed this repository:
http://ppa.launchpad.net/libreoffice/ppa/ubuntu
and now I have Calc version 3.6.0.2 (Build ID: 360m1(Build:102))
(German language)

Problem still exists.
I went back and forth between black background and no fill and the font stays
at dark gray (Now (with new version) in the menu it displays a rectangle (color
indicator) around dark red, ???, I have to click multiple times to change
color indicator to automatic, although the real color is automatic (means
dark gray) from the start.)

 I just did a test with Version 3.6.1.2 (Build ID: e29a214) and it worked as it
 should, I went back and forth between black background and no fill and the
 font
 changed fine.

 Also this should be under Spreadsheet and not have BASIC in title unless I am
 missing something (?), changing both.

Its also in the Writer application!! I open Writer, write text, select text,
select black background (not line background, its the middle button: text
backcolor) = the text color stays dark gray.

OK, I summerize:
text background black: automatic text color should be white = is dark gray
text background white: automatic text color should be black = is dark gray
startup Calc and Writer:
  textcolor should be black = is dark gray,
  textcolor indicator should be automatic = is dark red!!!
  background should be white = is white! ok!
  background indicator should be no fill = is yellow!!!
startup Writer:
  textcolor should be black = is dark gray,
  textcolor indicator should be automatic = is dark red!!!
  text background should be white = is white! ok!
  text background indicator should be no fill = is yellow!!!
  line background should be white = is white! ok!
  line background indicator should be no fill = is yellow!!!

 Also try making a backup of your libreoffice folder (inside of
 ~/.config/libreoffice) and then delete that folder. Open LO and see if that
 solves it.

Tried that but that didn't solve the problem.

Hi,

I updated to the recent LO 3.6.1 on my distro Arch Linux, and have noticed,
that the Calc is quite slow ever since when manipulating with bigger data file.
I have by e.g. about 5MB large ODS spreadsheet, in which I store various data.
Before on LO 3.5.* , it worked fast.
Now, it takes minutes to load or save the file at change. And I'm updating the
file quite often per day.
When I was searching for an root cause, I've noticed, that only one CPU core is
being in use by CPU process when loading/saving.
I believe, this migt be it, as I have laptop with 4 core CPU (i5) , and
htop/top revealed only one working on 100% at the process of load/save.
I've tested it also on one another separate arch virtual pc, having only two
CPU cores, and htop/top again revealed only one CPU core in use at 100%.

As might be seen in here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=148492 ,
I'm not the only person affected.

I've also found this problem on the Ubuntu distro:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1034999

Furthermore, I'm not sure, whether this problem is present on Linux systems
only, as I haven't tested it yet at other systems like Windows, but it it
possible, that it might be related to other OS's as well.

A short RTF file which triggers the error.

Problem description:
References are defined like REF name, e.g. REF BMyName. When imported the
links in the text that reference them are ONE character less, e.g. instead of
BMyName they are MyName and have to be manually corrected. The same RTF file is
imported in MS-Word intact.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Take a valid RTF file with embedded references (preferably with names
starting with B);
2. Import it;
3. All references show Reference not found

Current behavior:
Reference not found message is issued in the text.

Expected behavior:
Proper reference to section, figure, chapter, etc. is made.

 This only seems to be an issue during first use after clean install or an
 upgrade.

Yes, but this is true just because only after a clean install all these
messages are printed at the bottom of the splash screen (on an ordinary
application startup, no messages are printed there).

 To reproduce this delete ~/Library/Application\ Support/LibreOffice before
 starting LibreOffice.

... or better, just rename it; to make LibreOffice display all these messages
again.

@Astron, Thorsten Behrens:

Hello Astron, hello Thorsten,

here is yet another cosmetic issue with the new splash screen on Mac OS X. It
is minor, but annoying, because it makes LibreOffice 3.6 look a bit fragile
or unfinished on Mac OS X. Please take a look at it; it is a minor issue, of
course, but should also be rather easy to fix; of course, this may involve
changing the font size used for these messages.

Thank you very much!

These document display a wrong word count because that's the word count stored
in their meta.xml which gets loaded and used until the document is dirtied at
which point it gets recalculated.

Seeing as LibreOffice wrote these .odt's presumably the wordcount was wrong
after loading the original .doc/.docx. What I'd really like is the original
.doc and .docx to make sure we now have the right word count after loading the
original format.

Either way I guess we'll probably have to mark loaded SwDocStat's as suspect
and recalculate them on first request.

a) of the results mentioned in comment #7 -- the bug seems fixed
   both in LibO 3.5.6 and 3.6.0;
b) because of the similar/duplicate bug 52303,
   which is already VERIFIED/WORKSFORME.

(In reply to comment #4)
 I am pretty sure that it's a FILEOPEN problem.
Changing the Summary according to Rainer’s comment and my own results.

Feel free to reopen this bug report if you can still reproduce this issue in
LibreOffice = 3.5.6. Thank you!

Dear bug reporter,

I am sorry but we need to close this bug report, because the important
questions given in comment #1 have not been answered for more than three months
now. Without any answers, we can’t proceed with this bug report in any way, and
therefore we close it.

Feel fre to reopen this bug report if you can still/again reproduce the same
(!) issue with a current version of LibreOffice, i.e. 3.5.6 or 3.6.1 or better.

Thank you!

I could not screencast the mouse pointer.
Hopefully you'll notice delay between iconchange-tooltip.
Note: Libreoffice built-in help is NOT installed.

Platform Windows7

I disabled Java RE under OPTIONS-LibreOFFICE-Java

I heard it is not needed any more for browsers, so I thought, that I could
disable it on LO as well. However I had a lot of problems then (crashes, very
slow start...)

I just want to note, that there should be a warning: Before disabling Java, you
need to be warned that this might not be a good idea.

For all you programmers this might be common sense, but not so for most of your
user base.

Thanks for your attention.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 52967] Automatic text color is always dark gray in calc, writer

Why did you add BASIC to this again? Basic is the macro coding aspect of LibO,
I don't understand where this is coming into play. If it's writer and calc, it
should be set to LibreOffice. I'm still not seeing the problem, going to see if
someone else can reproduce.

Screenshot: Not reproducible with LibO 3.4.0

NOT reproducible with LibO 3.5.6.2 on Win XP, so really a Mac OS X only issue.

REPRODUCIBLE with
* LibreOffice 3.6.1.2
* LibreOffice 3.5.6.2
* LibreOffice 3.4.6
* LibreOffice 3.3.0
all on Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Intel)

But -- surprise! -- NOT reproducible with
* LibreOffice 3.4.0
on the same machine. Strange! So this bug was fixed in the 3.4 development
process, but introduced again between 3.4.0 and 3.4.6? Or is this just a
conincidence? But I don’t see how ...
