[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55111] EDITING Date fields with strange date results

2013-02-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55111

--- Comment #6 from Korrawit Pruegsanusak detective.conan.1...@gmail.com ---
(In reply to comment #1)
Worked fine with Server Installation of LibreOffice 3.6.2.1 rc

Rainer, are you sure that it worked in 3.6.2.1? Could you please check again?

I just tested again on Windows XP, en_US User Interface, Thai locale, and got
following results:

* 3.5.7 release: both input 16/9/2012 and 16.9.2012 give correct date

* 3.6.0.alpha1 and 3.6.1 release: 16/9/2012 = correct, but 16.9.2012 = wrong
Note: Starting in 3.6, there is a locale-dependent date acceptance patterns.

* 3.6.2.1 rc:
** Before adding custom patterns, as in comment 4 step 0
*** same result as in 3.6.0.alpha1 and 3.6.1: correct when using /, wrong when
.
*** Calc detect 16/9/2012 as date, but _not_ 16.9.2012 (as expected)

** After added patterns
*** same result as not adding patterns: correct when using /, wrong when .
*** Calc detect both 16/9/2012 and 16.9.2012 as date (as expected)

Note: Starting in 3.6.2, there is a edit-able pattern in Options menu.

Rainer, please confirm these results.

 * 3.6.2.1 rc:

Anyway, test result for 3.6.2.1 rc also same for 4.0.1.1 rc.

(In reply to comment #6)
 Rainer, please confirm these results.

If confirmed, it means the custom date acceptance patterns doesn't apply in
this scenario, which is a cause and needs a fix. :)

Hi Miroslaw,

I believe that you are talking about modifying of template files; this is
completely different situation that is not covered by this bug report.

Ah, indeed. Sorry.
There is the option to Load styles (window Styles and Formatting (F11), menu at
the top right) but that does not change the associated template.

I was looking at various template related stuff, and didn't get yours right. I
think the description is fine though. Apologies.

--- Comment #14 from Lionel Elie Mamane lio...@mamane.lu ---
Reproduced. Not a dupe of bug 45789.

The weird thing is that if the report is based directly on the 01 Call Report
table instead of on the query, the memo field is shown in full.

Also, in the buggy case the memo field stops after 255 characters, so this very
much looks like a length in 8 bits limit. Doesn't access limit VARCHAR fields
to 255 characters?

I would also like to escalate this query to other programs within Ubuntu,
as it has the same maximise issue for open and save dialogue windows
in programs such as Rhythmbox, and Evince Document Viewer.
It is a common bug on Ubuntu Systems with Unity.

If this affects other apps - and indeed we really use a pretty bog-standard /
plain-and-simple Gtk+ file picker with only some LibreOffice API wrappers
around it - then this is clearly a Unity bug and not a LibreOffice bug.

So in the absence of any better data = NOTOURBUG.

Thanks !

Installed 4.0 on Mac OSX and this doesn't happen for me, even with the Japanese
langpack installed and the language set to Japanese.

Perhaps there is some config setting triggering this, so the only suggestion I
got let is to tar up your config dir like so...
tar cvzf /tmp/config.tar.gz ~/Library/Application\ Support/LibreOffice/
and either attach that here, or send it to me directly if you're worried that
there is any personal info in that.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61270] New: FILEOPEN: Writer Opens Documents with many Form Controls very Slow

2013-02-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61270

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 61270
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FILEOPEN: Writer Opens Documents with many Form
Controls very Slow
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: harald-koes...@htp-tel.de
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.0.3 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 75301
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=75301action=edit
Example document in order to reproduce the problem.

Problem description:

This bug has been reported on the German discuss mailing list by Joerg Sigle.
He created a text document with a lot of form controls which is opened very
slow. In his case the time length is not tolerable.

According Joerg the load time increases if the number of form controls is
increased and also the other way round.

In order to reproduce the problem Joeg prepared a reduced example document
which I will attach to this bug report. Just open this file and measure the
length of time to open this document (my system: ~ 15 sec).

By chance I found a workaround for this problem: If the Navigator is displayed
the document opens much more faster (my system: within 2 sec). This is also the
case if the Navigator is set to “be displayed”. So generally LO is able to open
this kind of documents fast. Joerg stated that he can't use this workaround
because LibreOffice is “called through the UNO via noa-libre etc. interface”.
Hence the workaround is not obvious, also to my opinion it is not a real
workaround, you have to know it.

Joerg stated that the problem does not exist in early OpenOffice versions and
that it exists at least since one of the early versions of LO. He also stated
that the problem appears under Linux and under Windows.

Expected behaviour: Also fast opening if the Navigator is not displayed.

My system: Win 7, LO version: 4.0.0.3
Operating System: All
Version: 4.0.0.3 release

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 59346] FILESAVE: FILEOPEN: Certain conditional formatting is broken

2013-02-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59346

(In reply to comment #6)
 Created attachment 74983 [details]
 Conditional Formatting - Colour Styles

 @Marcus
 Retested with 4.0.0.3.

Believe there are still 3 issues with OOXML

Save attachment as OOXML, close and reopen (in LO)
1)formula in column C does not re-calculate on reopen (bug 60215)
2)after recalculation, the T() part works differently (text of style is
incorrectly appended to the end of column C) (??new bug)
3)the conditional colour background styles in columns A B no longer work
 (this bug)

After some more delving re these comments:
Issue 2) results from the STYLE() function being silently deleted from the
formula in column C. The reason for the deletion is evidently that STYLE() has
no equivalent function in Excel. Suggest that when this occurs, as a minimum
the user should be informed with a warning message about what has been dropped
and why.
Issue 3) The reason conditional colour background styles aren't working
correctly in attachment 74983 is because of the way LO copies and pastes
conditional formats. This is leading to inconsistencies in the resulting
formulas. If the conditional formatting formulas do not have any
inconsistencies, the conditional formatting does indeed transfer to Excel 2007
correctly. I need to do some more work to tie this down more exactly, and it
might overlap with another bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61271] New: FORMATTING: Negative numbers red does not work on file load for calculated cells

2013-02-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61271

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 61271
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FORMATTING: Negative numbers red does not work on file
load for calculated cells
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: b...@herbison.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.0.3 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 75302
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=75302action=edit
Spreadsheet with negative calculated cells not correctly displayed on load.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create a spreadsheet.
2. Place a negative number in cell A1.
3. Set cell B2 to =A1.
4. Select both cells, open Format Cells and enable Negative numbers red.
5. Save and close the spreadsheet.
6. Reopen the spreadsheet.
7. Change the value of cell A1 to another negative number.

Expected:

From step 4 on, the symbols in cells A1 and B2 are always red.

Actual:

In step 6 cell B2 is displayed with black text.

Note 1: If the format specifies parenthesis for negative numbers, that format
is displayed correctly on load.

Note 2: In the attached spreadsheet, cells B3 and B4 have the same format but
they are display differently until cell A1 is changed. I'm not sure whether
that is the same issue or a different issue.

Cant reproduce on a Ubuntu release build, so its depending on the (non-release)
build configuration I used in the other case.

Removing bibisectrequest, as its tricky to hunt a bug depending on build config
with it.

Lowering importance and priority.

Juliano, did you ever witness that expected behavior, with any version of the

I doubt that, as that W2LDialogs - Module1 - Main is just a

When exporting a presentation to PDF, the hyperlinks are off by one page if the
document contains a hidden slide which is not exported.

The attached document contains 4 pages. The second slide is hidden.
When exporting this document to PDF, the PDF contains 3 pages (as expected).
The hyperlink on the first page works, but the one on the second page does not.
However this link can be found on the third page (check next to third bullet).

When the second slide is shown at the presentation is exported to PDF. All
links are located at the right place.

Copy from chart object will not paste anything visible to any other Libreoffice
document in any way. (two alternative paste method available in paste special
menu)

Though this description is light, this is easy to test and developpers should
understand that missing this kind of functionality the whole Libre office
becomes useless to large audience among ordinary office workkers.

How to see the issue:
1) create any object (say, rectangle)
2) set thicker border to it
3) press ctrl+c and ctrl+v
OR just open the attachment and do the third step.

What should be and was in earlier versions: You should see NO change because
the copy was placed on the same place as an original object.
What you see now: The copy is placed with shifting up and left, to the edge of
the original object BORDER, not to the edge of the object itself.

OK, page names are now extracted and passed to the API in git master of
libvisio. For all file-formats. Concerning the page sizes, libvisio does the
right thing, the fix has to be in Draw, in a zone that is very
regression-prone. I don't hold my breath to have time to do it for 4.1 even.
The page names fix should go to 4.0.2. I don't feel too comfortable to make it
part of 4.0.1 during the RC phase we just have, but maybe I become a bit more
nuts during the weekend.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46517] Subscript/superscript shortcuts apply style to whole word instead of only characters written after use of shortcut

2013-02-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46517

 Michael Stahl
oh wait, there is one reason to prefer the status quo: if we change
it there is guaranteed to be at least one user who files a regression bug :)

Yeah, that's the spirit! Don't ever change the status quo!
How about a constructive discussion? Yes, changing the current behavior might
startle LibreOffice users, but it might please others. And it will surely
please Microsoft Office users ...

 Rainer Bielefeld 2013-02-21 21:55:29 UTC
The subscript / superscript buttons work exactly as other formatting ...
Why should we see that as a problem for Subscript/superscript, but not
 for other character formatting?

You are right, it does apply to all formatting! And in my opinion, it would be
for the better to change it to new formatting only applies to newly typed
characters, or currently marked characters. Since this would change
LibreOffice' behavior quite substantially, it is worth a discussion.
Viewed logically, I don't see why anything should affect non-marked characters.
From a user's point of view, there are three cases:
1) Apply formatting to a whole word
2) Apply formatting to characters within a word
3) Apply formatting to newly typed characters within a word

Let's see how those two scenarios can be handled currently:
1A) Click into a word and apply formatting
1B) Double-click the word and apply formatting
2A) Mark character and apply formatting
3A) Type, mark typed characters and apply formatting

If the behavior would be changed to my suggestion, 1B and 2A would still apply
and 3A would change for the better to Choose formatting and type character.
It sounds like an unnecessary change, but in my case it would solve a lot of
undo actions due to involuntary formatting. But then again, I might be a
special case. I despise everything a program does all by itself, probably
because my brain is not able to anticipate what the software is going to do
(read what the programmers think is best for the user).

 NOTABUG again?

You might not consider it as a bug per se, but this was the only way I saw to
bring up the issue. I subscribed to [Libreoffice-ux-advise], but discussing
matters there is extremely difficult, because there are several different
discussions going on at the same time. In addition, as a n00b and ordinary
user I found it impossible to get a discussion going with all the pros. If
one of the pros is against something, while most of the others might not
disagree but simply don't care that much, it's the end of the discussion.

--- Comment #3 from rob...@familiegrosskopf.de ---
(In reply to comment #2)

Do you know a workaround in order to implement this query only with SQL ?

You could create a view with
SELECT * FROM lyon ORDER BY eclairement_lux DESC LIMIT 300
Then you could get the right order and the right limit.

Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.0.3 release

   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description: Creating a new style in the Styles and Formatting dialogue
causes unwanted results.

Steps to reproduce:
Open a new document.

1. Open the Styles and Formatting dialogue (F11).
2. Select Paragraph Styles.
3. Right-click anywhere in the list with the All styles filter selected.
4. In the context menu, select NEW.
5. A new entry appears in the list, 'Untitled1'. The Paragraph Styles dialogue
opens.
6. In the Paragraph Styles dialogue , click 'Cancel' to close the dialogue.
7. 'Untitled1' remains in the list.

It should not.

8. Right-click on 'Untitled1' and select 'Delete' from the context menu.
Confirm deletion wanted.
9. 'Untitled1' is deleted.

10. Repeat steps 3 to 6. 'Untitled1' remains in the list as at step 7.

11. Repeat step 8.
12. 'Untitled1' is NOT deleted.
13. Repeat step 8.
14. 'Untitled1' IS deleted.

This behaviour is the same when selecting Frame Styles

When selecting List styles, the behaviour is the same as steps 3 to 9.

Selecting Character Styles, or selecting Page Styles returns correct behaviour.
That is to say, when 'Cancel' is selected in the dialogue, 'Untitled1' is
removed from the list.

First, harald-koester@, thanks a lot for testing and great summary.

I have pushed another fix into master and nominated it for 4.0.2 and 4.0.1.2
releases. It fixes migration of:

* LO Window size
* „Enable macro recording“ and „Enable experimental features“ and few more
options
* Paths  My documents
* Macros (macro created with macro recorder, macro inserts just some
words)

The following two items worked for me with 4.0.1.1 build on Linux, so there was
nothing to do:

* Tools/Options/LibreOffice/Appearance/Document background
* Customize keyboard (assigned „Style Paragraph Heading 6“ to CTRL+6
   it Tools/Customization/Keyboard)

harald-koester@:I am not sure why the two last things did not work for you.
Could you please try it once again with the 4.0.1.1 build.

BTW: harald-koester@ what system are you testing on, please? Linux or Windows
or ...?

New (confirmed)
Trivial (has no real impact on being able to make professional quality work,
very specific steps to repeat that are unlikely to be repeated by many)
Lowest (default, no need to change this)

This might be two bugs:

1. Cancel should result in deletion of new style
2. Once you delete a style, if you create another one with same name, you have
to delete it twice for the delete to actually occur.

Develop may ask you to split this into two bug reports but for now should be
okay.

I did an additional quick test: Softmaker FreeOffice does it the same way like
we.

@daniel.mania (In reply to comment #11):

I believe there is consensus that any change here would touch lots of users,
many functions, scope unknown. And some users would like a change, and some
would submit a regression Bug, as Michael stated.

At least this can not be decided quickly, before we can do a change we need a
consistent overall plan. I recommend to discuss your ideas on mailing list
libreoffice-ux-adv...@lists.freedesktop.org, may be exchange of ideas there
can find a way to fulfill needs of some more users? Or we get an Extension or a
code snippet like sashas macro.

So I return to NOTABUG, because currently the current behavior is the intended
one, and for an Enhancement Request there is too less common sense and concept.
May be you do some cowork with sasha for a preliminary soulution

@Sasha
I tested your macro, yes, works fine.

Unfortunately our Macros Page
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Macros
is as dead as a dead herring.
It would be great if you could create an Extension (using BAB, details see on
http://archive09.linux.com/feature/120875) and upload it, I believe that
might be useful for some people, as we see here.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61291] New: Moving Templates from 3.5.5 to 4.0.0.3

Creating a menu item

Windows XP SP3

We created numerous templates in LO 3.5.5. We created the letter/template and
inserted input fields that would stop and ask the user to input the appropriate
data. We then created a menu item that would show each time a blank Writer
document was opened. Here are the steps we took. Tools, Customize, Menus. We
added a new menu (call it Billing), then under menu content, clicked add,
application, new document from template. After confirming, this adds a menu
item called Billing. Tools, Options, LibreOffice paths would point to the
template directory on the network. In LO 3.5.5 this would open the template
the user chose, then prompt them for input fields. The input data would then
be inserted in the letter.

We are hoping to upgrade to version 4.0.0.3, but when we try to duplicate what
worked in LO 3.5.5, the template doesn't stop at the input fields to prompt
the user for data.

We have found that if the template is opened (File, Open (browse to network
directory)), the template will prompt the user for input. However, we would
like to be able to create the menu selection for opening the templates directly
from a Writer document the way we were able to in LO 3.5.5.
