[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55111] EDITING Date fields with strange date results
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55111 --- Comment #6 from Korrawit Pruegsanusak detective.conan.1...@gmail.com --- (In reply to comment #1) Worked fine with Server Installation of LibreOffice 3.6.2.1 rc Rainer, are you sure that it worked in 3.6.2.1? Could you please check again? I just tested again on Windows XP, en_US User Interface, Thai locale, and got following results: * 3.5.7 release: both input 16/9/2012 and 16.9.2012 give correct date * 3.6.0.alpha1 and 3.6.1 release: 16/9/2012 = correct, but 16.9.2012 = wrong Note: Starting in 3.6, there is a locale-dependent date acceptance patterns. * 3.6.2.1 rc: ** Before adding custom patterns, as in comment 4 step 0 *** same result as in 3.6.0.alpha1 and 3.6.1: correct when using /, wrong when . *** Calc detect 16/9/2012 as date, but _not_ 16.9.2012 (as expected) ** After added patterns *** same result as not adding patterns: correct when using /, wrong when . *** Calc detect both 16/9/2012 and 16.9.2012 as date (as expected) Note: Starting in 3.6.2, there is a edit-able pattern in Options menu. Problem description: This bug has been reported on the German discuss mailing list by Joerg Sigle. He created a text document with a lot of form controls which is opened very slow. In his case the time length is not tolerable. According Joerg the load time increases if the number of form controls is increased and also the other way round. In order to reproduce the problem Joeg prepared a reduced example document which I will attach to this bug report. Just open this file and measure the length of time to open this document (my system: ~ 15 sec). By chance I found a workaround for this problem: If the Navigator is displayed the document opens much more faster (my system: within 2 sec). This is also the case if the Navigator is set to “be displayed”. So generally LO is able to open this kind of documents fast. Joerg stated that he can't use this workaround because LibreOffice is “called through the UNO via noa-libre etc. interface”. Hence the workaround is not obvious, also to my opinion it is not a real workaround, you have to know it. Joerg stated that the problem does not exist in early OpenOffice versions and that it exists at least since one of the early versions of LO. He also stated that the problem appears under Linux and under Windows. Expected behaviour: Also fast opening if the Navigator is not displayed. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 59346] FILESAVE: FILEOPEN: Certain conditional formatting is broken
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59346 --- Comment #7 from mike.h...@onepoyle.net --- (In reply to comment #6) Created attachment 74983 [details] Conditional Formatting - Colour Styles @Marcus Retested with 4.0.0.3. Believe there are still 3 issues with OOXML Save attachment as OOXML, close and reopen (in LO) 1)formula in column C does not re-calculate on reopen (bug 60215) 2)after recalculation, the T() part works differently (text of style is incorrectly appended to the end of column C) (??new bug) 3)the conditional colour background styles in columns A B no longer work (this bug) After some more delving re these comments: Issue 2) results from the STYLE() function being silently deleted from the formula in column C. The reason for the deletion is evidently that STYLE() has no equivalent function in Excel. Suggest that when this occurs, as a minimum the user should be informed with a warning message about what has been dropped and why. Issue 3) The reason conditional colour background styles aren't working correctly in attachment 74983 is because of the way LO copies and pastes conditional formats. This is leading to inconsistencies in the resulting formulas. If the conditional formatting formulas do not have any inconsistencies, the conditional formatting does indeed transfer to Excel 2007 correctly. I need to do some more work to tie this down more exactly, and it might overlap with another bug. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46517] Subscript/superscript shortcuts apply style to whole word instead of only characters written after use of shortcut
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46517 --- Comment #21 from daniel.ma...@umb.no --- Michael Stahl oh wait, there is one reason to prefer the status quo: if we change it there is guaranteed to be at least one user who files a regression bug :) Yeah, that's the spirit! Don't ever change the status quo! How about a constructive discussion? Yes, changing the current behavior might startle LibreOffice users, but it might please others. And it will surely please Microsoft Office users ... Rainer Bielefeld 2013-02-21 21:55:29 UTC The subscript / superscript buttons work exactly as other formatting ... Why should we see that as a problem for Subscript/superscript, but not for other character formatting? You are right, it does apply to all formatting! And in my opinion, it would be for the better to change it to new formatting only applies to newly typed characters, or currently marked characters. Since this would change LibreOffice' behavior quite substantially, it is worth a discussion. Viewed logically, I don't see why anything should affect non-marked characters. From a user's point of view, there are three cases: 1) Apply formatting to a whole word 2) Apply formatting to characters within a word 3) Apply formatting to newly typed characters within a word Let's see how those two scenarios can be handled currently: 1A) Click into a word and apply formatting 1B) Double-click the word and apply formatting 2A) Mark character and apply formatting 3A) Type, mark typed characters and apply formatting If the behavior would be changed to my suggestion, 1B and 2A would still apply and 3A would change for the better to Choose formatting and type character. It sounds like an unnecessary change, but in my case it would solve a lot of undo actions due to involuntary formatting. But then again, I might be a special case. I despise everything a program does all by itself, probably because my brain is not able to anticipate what the software is going to do (read what the programmers think is best for the user). NOTABUG again? You might not consider it as a bug per se, but this was the only way I saw to bring up the issue. I subscribed to [Libreoffice-ux-advise], but discussing matters there is extremely difficult, because there are several different discussions going on at the same time. In addition, as a n00b and ordinary user I found it impossible to get a discussion going with all the pros. If one of the pros is against something, while most of the others might not disagree but simply don't care that much, it's the end of the discussion. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

We created the letter/template and inserted input fields that would stop and ask the user to input the appropriate data. We then created a menu item that would show each time a blank Writer document was opened. Here are the steps we took. Tools, Customize, Menus. We added a new menu (call it Billing), then under menu content, clicked add, application, new document from template. After confirming, this adds a menu item called Billing. Tools, Options, LibreOffice paths would point to the template directory on the network. In LO 3.5.5 this would open the template the user chose, then prompt them for input fields. The input data would then be inserted in the letter. We are hoping to upgrade to version 4.0.0.3, but when we try to duplicate what worked in LO 3.5.5, the template doesn't stop at the input fields to prompt the user for data. We have found that if the template is opened (File, Open (browse to network directory)), the template will prompt the user for input. However, we would like to be able to create the menu selection for opening the templates directly from a Writer document the way we were able to in LO 3.5.5. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
