[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61781] New: Error bars of charts created via cell range in Calc are lost after saving and reopening

2013-03-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61781

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 61781
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Error bars of charts created via cell range in Calc
are lost after saving and reopening
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: xiphosu...@gmail.com
  Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.0.3 release
 Component: Chart
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 75882
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=75882action=edit
test doc saved with Y-error bars visible

When error bars of charts are created via cell range in Calc, they disappear
after saving, closing and reopening the ODS file.

The attached ODS file contains Y-error bars created using Cell Range, and for
Parameter I manually typed in D7:D8 since clicking on Select data range
doesn't do anything (Bug 60253). The bars then became visible. I saved the ODS
file, and at this point uploaded the attached ODS file.

Now, when I close and open this file again, the error bars are no longer
visible. And under Format y-error bars, in place of D7:D8, it shows as
d7:sheet1.d8. I noticed that if I change the d7:sheet1.d8 to
sheet1.d7:sheet1.d8, then after save/close/reopen the error bars are
retained.

Additionally, this bug is also probably the cause of the error bars (created
using cell range) disappearing when copy and pasting the chart into Writer,
Impress, Draw. If the sheet name is manually specified as described above, then
error bars don't disappear after copy/paste into Writer, Impress, Draw.
However, the error bar values erroneously change into the Y-values, which is
probably Bug 52159.

Right, multi-page floating tables never worked, so this is an enhancement

I saved a file with macro as template, and simply start a new document from

Witn seciruty Low or Medium, I both get access to the macro.

Hi Regina - thanks for your input ! :-)

I have no doubt that it is possible for these directories to hold something
useful :-) surely they can.

However - when there is no keyboard customisation / configuration etc. (and I'm
certain we havn't configured any keybindings / floaters etc. in this doc) -
then we should not be creating empty directories that serve no useful purpose
in the ODF file.

But of course, it'd be interesting to fixup those other problems too - thanks
for the pointers ! :-)

perhaps my chronology is twisted ].

I think we build for 2.3+ - I hope the app-store availability bits reflect that
- so hopefully most normal users won't suffer the problem :-) will update the

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46310] FILEOPEN: Annoying Should LibO repair file? - File could not be repaired dialog window loop

2013-03-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46310

--- Comment #10 from Adrian Hesketh adrianhesk...@hushmail.com ---
I've also found this defect in LibreOffice 4.0.0.3 on Windows 8.

FILEOPEN - Opening a corrupt file and then selecting No to the repair
dialog results in an infinite loop unless you accept that LibreOffice should
repair the file.

Reproduction

1. Create a Word 2007 file, e.g. MyFile.docx
2. Rename it to MyFile.doc
3. Open it using LibreOffice from Windows Explorer (in my case by
double-clicking on the file).
4. A dialog is displayed with text The file 'MyFile.doc' is corrupt and
therefore cannot be opened. LibreOffice can try to repair the file.
4a. The final sentence states Should LibreOffice attempt to repair the file?
4b. Options are Yes and No.
5. Clicking the No button displays dialog The file 'thebigword.doc' could
not be repaired and therefore cannot be opened. with an OK button.
6. Clicking the OK button results in the dialog at step 4.

This means that the user is presented with the same option until the user
terminates LibreOffice using Task Manager or chooses to repair the file.

The desired behaviour should be that selecting OK from the dialog at step 5
should exit the program.

--- Comment #12 from Josef josef.dalco...@gmx.net ---
Changed the summary of this bug, to better reflect the issue: links to figures
or tables turn into plain text on export to .doc or .docx

Changed the Version to unspecified, since nothing seems to happen, even though
we had several new issues.

I can only emphasize, that this Bug is the main reason for not being able to
work cooperatively with people using MS-Word, which is the reason why I need to
keep MS-Word around.

Any serious technical document will use cross-references to figures and tables.
Where I don't need to cooperate with MS-Word users, I use LaTeX. Without fixing
this bug. LibreOffice is just a Word Reader for me, as I can't use it
collaborativle with others, who use MS-Word (and I really can't convince my
customers and business partners to use LibreOffce).

I uninstalled 3.6.5 from the Libreoffice 3.6 folder;
I the installed 4.0.1.2 in the default libreoffice 4.0 folder.

Unfortunately, no personal setting was migrated, starting from personalized
toolbars, which are gone and replaced by the standard ones.

Am I missing something?
Shouldn't the 4.0.1 solve this?
Maybe I have to install it in the same libreoffice 3.6 folder of the previous
version?
Or I should not uninstall 3.6.5 before installing 4.0.1?

Any hint is really welcome, thanks

(In reply to comment #0)
there is no possibility to scroll through a name-list by means of the TAB
key, as I know it from OpenOffice (OpO). Having typed = followed by the
first letter(s) matching with letters of a name in the list, that name is
displayed. Pressing the TAB key again in order to scroll to the next
matching name, that name is not displayed, but the program enters the just
typed signs and interprets them as name instead. As such name does not exist
in the name-list the fault message #NAME? is sent.

Confirmed with:
LO 4.0.0.3
Build ID: own W7 debug build
Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit

Name-list scroll by TAB is not possible. Only first match is available to
insert by using Enter key.

You are using a different operating system, and maybe a different version of
Writer. Writer do not fit in 4 MB of memory, so that your Windows do not allow
for all used memory, or must be other process(es) of Writer. See the snapshot.
This problem maybe resolved in a newer version.

Windows XP Home SP3 also do not allow for all used memory in general, but
sometimes do. The full memory using of all programs was 1.27 GB, and after the
exiting from the Writer, at now this is 787 MB. But in the list, Writer 3.6.5.2
used 18 MB (soffice.bin), and at now if I sum the memory usage of all programs,
this is less than 200 MB, and not 787 MB.
I observed the memory using regularly, Writer uses huge memory only at this
file.

2013-03-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61788

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 61788
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: EDITING: Impossible to dragdrop text from other
applications to LibreOffice
  Severity: critical
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Mac OS X (All)
  Reporter: emir_s...@msn.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.1.2 rc
 Component: Libreoffice
   Product: LibreOffice

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open an application (Firefox, TextEdit, Safari etc.)
2. Select some text
3. Drag the text from application and drag it to any LO component

Expected behaviour:

1. Text should be pasted.

Actual behaviour:

1. Nothing happens

This is some serious functionality lost, and I hope this gets fixed as soon as
possible. I don't know if this is a regression, it would be great if someone
could confirm this on 3.6 branch.

Thanks for your input, Joel and Mario!

Joel, I did as you advised. Unfortunately, it still persisted, albeit more
sporadically now than consistently. Tried it in 4.0.1.2 and still no go. If
it's anything, the problem persists on 2 machines. I have a desktop and a
laptop (both Ubuntu 12.04.2 x86_64 running LO 4.0.0.3) and the story is the
same.

Whatever it is that's on my system, I hope it sorts itself out. Thanks for your
time!

 Steps to reproduce:
 1. Right-Click any word in Writer.
 2. A drop-down menu appears but there is not a single synonym.

Please check if correct language modules are installed and enabled in
ToolsOptionsLanguage SettingsWriting Aids.

(In reply to comment #1)
Now the synonym feature is working with Right Clicking a word in Writer in
 LO Version 3.6.2.2.
The only thing I did now was install the Extensions American English Spell

Seems you installed and enabled needed thesauruses...

I will mark this as RESOLVED WORKSFORME per comment above.

Could you attach original LibreOffice document to allow others to check on

I accidentally fixed (or more like worked around) the problem. I was probing
around the LO options to find how to change the ruler units, and when I came
across the integrated Java in LO, I disabled it. I removed all Java from my
computer a few months ago due to too many vulnerabilities and instability
issues popping up all the time. I didn't realize LO had Java integrated.
Disabling Java in LO fixed the problem. The Send menu shows up correctly now.

As for the tests, renaming the profile directory did NOT help. Trying it on a
new odt file did NOT help.

As for the backtrace, running

soffice --backtrace

never really started soffice up. So instead, I used gdb on soffice.bin . The
results are in the attachment strace_gdb.log . At line 54 starts the strace
log, as well.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61791] New: FORMATTING: Negative Numbers

2013-03-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61791

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 61791
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
   Summary: FORMATTING: Negative Numbers
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: dhh1...@hotmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.0.3 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

I am using LibreOffice 4.0.0.3 and have just noticed a problem with my existing
spreadsheets. The cells are formatted to show negative numbers in RED, and on
entering numerical data, either directly or via a formula, all negative numbers
do appear in red – exactly as they should do. HOWEVER, if the file is saved,
then upon re-opening the file, the negative numbers now revert to the normal
BLACK colour.

But, if a NEW spreadsheet is created and numerical data entered after
formatting the cells to show negative numbers in red, it does appear to work
slightly better. Negative numbers entered directly stay red, even after saving,
closing and re-opening, but negative numbers derived from a calculation
still revert to BLACK after saving, re-opening etc. etc. At least, this has
been my experience to date.

I do not know if this problem has only just occurred with this latest version
of LibreOffice, but I have only just noticed it, and I have to say it is most
irritating – as it can be very misleading when both positive and negative
numbers look alike, despite there being a small minus sign in front of the
negative ones.

I do hope this problem can be sorted out soon.

Regards
David Humphrey

foreground thus making it easier to kill it (^C).

Still, if you send the process to the background next invocation of libreoffice
hooks on the pre-existing process and silently fails starting up anything.

I think the correct behavior should be to error out and return to console if
DISPLAY can't be connected to.

I would like to propose an additional option in Pivot table properties Auto
refresh when source selection changes which would basically trigger refresh of
Pivot Table after any changes to the cells that are within selection range upon
which Pivot Table is built.

New development
I've changed my operating system to LINUX MINT 14 and am using LIBREOFFICE

After posting the initial bug report I installed version 3.6.5.2; there
were no intermittent problems with that version. How ever I had a lot of
intermittent problems with the screen blanking off when I pressed the left
mouse button. I have only used version 4 a couple of time and so far I've
 had no problems.

The behavior is slightly different with 3.6.0.2

Well, as LibreOffice 3.6.x is nearing its EndOfLife (last 3.6.6 version will be
released Week 15, Apr 8 - Apr 14, 2013, with code freeze Week 12, Mar 18 - Mar
24, 2013), it would be best to check latest 4.0.x version or master build (even
better).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61795] New: Weak Characters (like brackets) are mispositioned with mixed RTL and LTR

  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: sijproj...@gmail.com

 Component: Writer

Created attachment 75900
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=75900action=edit
test case

When mixing text of an RTL language (Hebrew) and LTR language (English) many
times brackets are misplaced.

This causes inability to mix texts from English and other languages, thus
making Writer unusable for day to day use.
reproduce-able text:
Hello (עול)ם
expected text:
Hello ‏(עול)ם

as you can see, the parenthesis is misplaced in the first example.

Todays LibreOffice's solution is to add LRM and RLM chars in the correct place,
this is very unintuitive for 90% of the users.

I think the BiDi algorithm should be enhanced, and place LRM/RLM automatically
according to the current window's keyboard layout. That is if the paragraph is
RTL but the layout is English then put an LRM char before the weak char. This
is what the user usually expects to happen.

I've attached a test case .odt file.

A similar bug with brackets is:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56408
It might have a similar cause , but it's a different bug.

So, e.g. instead of
 git pull https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/core refs/changes/08/2508/2
display
 git pull git://gerrit.libreoffice.org/core refs/changes/08/2508/2

It uses less bandwidth (when run on a repository that already has a near
commit to the one being fetched), and avoids errors such as:

https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/core/info/refs
fatal: HTTP request failed

(Yes, I'm aware that I'm the unusal guy there, not having the StartCom root

As a side-effect of the gull gbuildification (and removal of the separate

I don't know how we now invoke configure in an environment that does not
include config_host.mk, but apparently we found the way???

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61799] New: FILEOPEN: csv-parsing window is not brought to foreground on open

  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: ch...@chriscurvey.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.6.5.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

If I already have LOC open, and I go to open a file that needs some parsing
(e.g. CSV or tab-delimited), the text import dialog is not brought to the
foreground (until I click on the open sheet). This gives the impression that
nothing has happened (because the text import dialog is hidden).

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open something in LOC
2. Cover the LOC window with something else (web browser or something)
3. Using Windows explorer, double-click on a different CSV file.
(alternatively, use the browser window to download a CSV file)

Current behavior:

The text import dialog comes up BEHIND the web browser window, and there is no
signal that LOC is waiting for me to do something.

Expected behavior:

a) Bring the text import window to the absolute foreground when opening another
CSV file, OR

b) Flash the icon in the taskbar so that I know it is waiting for me to do
something.
