just tested the shorter 50 page .docx on Win7 64bit ...
so it seems the bug is inherited from OOo. changing

@Tommy, can you please test the 1.5mb fast document? Allegedly it worked
fine in 2011, but on my Lio357 from 2012 is is now five times slower than
before. Might be a temporarily regression in the 3.5.x series, that is now
fine in the 4.x series?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 66419] UI: macro call to close() or dispose() fail to terminate soffice processes

2013-10-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66419

--- Comment #4 from Vieri rentor...@yahoo.com ---
(In reply to comment #3)

Please note: using LO v. 4.0.3.3

0. disable libreoffice quickstarter (verify no soffice*.* in taskmgr)
DONE
1. start scalc
DONE
2. tools macros organize macros libreoffice basic
DONE
3+. (insert appropriate steps here)

created:
Sub MyAppClose

' close app
ThisComponent.Close(True)

End sub
Run 'MyAppClose'.
LO GUI closes (user doesn't see GUI anymore) but these processes are still
running in the background:
soffice.exe
soffice.bin

N-1. look in taskmgr.exe to verify soffice is still running

soffice.exe
soffice.bin
are still running

N. try to open another .odt (how exactly?) and it will never visually appear

I'm using v. 4.0.3.3 and I usually launch the following command to open a
document:
C:\Program Files\LibreOffice 4.0\program\soffice.exe -o
https://myserver/webdav/docs/doc1.odt
With v. 4.0.3.3 doc1.odt opens correctly and seems to reuse the soffice*
processes running in the background.
I currently can't test v. 4.0.4.2 as I had to downgrade (at this stage v.
4.0.4.2 would NOT open the odt) but as soon as I can I'll test the latest LO
release (currently 4.1.2).

In any case, I found that the macro call 'ThisComponent.Close(True)' never
terminates the soffice* processes even in OpenOffice (so it's not just a
LibreOffice issue).

Not sure, but maybe this is still a bug. If Sidebar is disabled by default,
then the TaskPane should be enabled. For now, it seems, that TaskPane doesn't
function properly. I tried to show/hide it with macros, using dispatcher
.uno:TaskBarVisible command. But this command does nothing. As for the sidebar,
new command .uno:Sidebar is used, but it works only when Sidebar is enabled in
experimental features.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 68927] FORMATTING: SVG images are converted to bitmap if used as page wide background

--- Comment #14 from a07cd040897db54e1...@spambog.com ---
(In reply to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68927#c13)

I think this is *not* the same bug as in
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62461.

There is mentioned that the problem discussed in 62461 works fine in LO v3.6.5.

Tested this bug (68927) with LO v3.6.5.2
(http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/3.6.5.2/win/x86/LibO_3.6.5.2_Win_x86_install_multi.msi)
and the problem can also be reproduced (image is *still* rasterized). So two
conclusions can be made:

1. this bug (68927) must have been reintroduced in a version 3.4.5 and =
3.6.5.2
2. the bugs 68927 and 62461 can *not* be the same

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34809

--- Comment #18 from Stephan Bergmann sberg...@redhat.com ---
(In reply to comment #16)
It seems to me that the reason the dialog often appears when beginning to
type in a new document is because LO attempts to load one or more JNI.dylib
 - the spellchecker perhaps ?

Sure, a dialog appears as soon as LO tries to use Java for some reason, but no
Java has been enabled. And the most likely reason LO tries to use Java when
opening a writer document or when typing into a writer document is some
spell-/grammar-checking extension using Java.

(In reply to comment #17)
Reading about fdo#69406 and jnilib.dylib issue now fixed, I wondered if
these 2 bugs could be related.
 Stephan: any idea?

No, bug 69406 is not related to this issue. (That one is about a regression
temporarily introduced into master towards LO 4.2.)

The first comment translated:

In Excel, conditional formatting to find data between two columns, marking
these duplicates with a color.

I do not get the same result with calc and conditional formatting. I checked
online documentation, tutorials, etc. and almost all conditional formatting
speak between the lines, but not between columns.
Operating System: Windows 7
Version: 4.1.1.2 Release

After solving this step, I can not filter by color marked cells, as seen in the

Which purpose would that serve? Don't you think the current Ask site is
sufficient? I don't think anybody is bothered if localization questions are
asked tehre. Also can you provide more background? E.g. link to Transifex etc

Also from what I see this bug is currently UNCONFIRMED. Not sure why I don't
see that as an option. Where did you create the bug? Directly in FreeDesktop?

problem is that the DXF import filter stores all strings in
char[DXF_MAX_STRING_LEN+1] arrays, and then calls the OUString
constructor with that, which does not work any more (if it ever did).

this is fixed by master commit 96852a89da058084b2acf5ff706d9679b127b29a

So, LibreOffice 4.1.2~rc3 on Ubuntu Saucy handles extensions just fine -- so
this isnt a generic problem of the Ubuntu packages.

Please:
- create a bug on launchpad against LibreOffice (Ubuntu)
- tag the bug with ppa
  https://lists.launchpad.net/libreoffice/msg00072.html
- attach the extension causing you trouble
- mark this bug as an upstream bug of that one
- and add a link to the launchpad bug on this bug in the see also: field

I don't have LO 4.2 installed at the moment (but I will clone it from git later
this day).

When odt file is exported to doc simbol ] _is_ there (I provided wrong
information when reported bug), but frames changes there size automatically.
After export frames get smaller so hiding last character.

It's not a big deal, really, but it's pain to resize 50 (or more) of these
frames.

I attached odt and doc example.

Thanks,

Kruno

created with a size of 0 (regardless whether it existed before or not). Saving
with backup disabled works.

Moving my ~H:/config/libreoffice/4 and /3 away (thus forcing LO to create a
new blank profile) does not help.

I regard this as a rather severe bug since it effectively blocks the use of the
backup feature! Because of this bug I just upgraded to 4.1.2.3, but to no
avail.

Hans

2013-10-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46447

--- Comment #68 from Cor Nouws c...@nouenoff.nl ---
Hi Sebastian,

(In reply to comment #63)
 Hi,

I just experienced a similar problem and found a way to fix it.
 [...]
I noticed on funny thing: In the missing file frame, the link was pointing
 to the some target e.g.:
 file:///D:/Dokumente/Dokumente/Report_Phase1/Figures/CSEM/image.png

Thanks for the clear description and (sort of) solution.

I don't think that it is the same problem as in this bug.

Here, the embeded images really get lost.
In your problem, the links are corrupted. Your problem looks very much related
to bug 48463, where the problem also is that path file:///X/more is changed to
file:///X/X/more
Maybe you can open a separate issue and refer to 48463 ?

Regards,
Cor

--- Comment #69 from Cor Nouws c...@nouenoff.nl ---
Hi all,

So good news is that there is some work goning on to fundamentaly repair the
handling of images.

For time being

It would be my advise: if you cut and past images from one place to another in
the presentation:
 - keep a copy of the presentation before starting that work;
 - use a separate Impress/Draw document that you paste the images in;
 - when all collected, sorted out:
  - save the presentation
  - copy the images from the other file to the presentation
  - save again
It's some extra work, but compared to other work, let alone losing a file,
relatively little.

Ciao,
Cor

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 70224] New: LibreOffice 1-byte disk reads

2013-10-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70224

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 70224
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
   Summary: LibreOffice 1-byte disk reads
  Severity: major
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: ste...@hoefer.ch
  Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: framework
   Product: LibreOffice

When opening an ODT or ODS file (with LibreOffice) in Windows Explorer by
double-clicking it, the Explorer will actually freeze for some time, before
anything happens.

On virtual (and sometimes even physical) machines, this frozen state can
persist so long that Dokan based file systems (Dokan on Windows is similar to
FUSE under Linux) will crash (which for some reason seems to be the default
behaviour of Dokan if an answer to some low-level file operation takes too long
to complete).

I need those Dokan based file system to work, so I checked the reason why a 12K
ODS file with just some numbers in it (no scripts, no images, just plain text)
takes considerably more than 10 seconds to load in LibreOffice. As it turns
out, LibreOffice does quite a number of 1-byte reads (read() system calls) with
a 4K-buffer.

These 1-byte reads start at some byte N and continue for sometimes a few dozen,
but mostly a few thousand bytes. This leads to about the following process (N
may be any byte in the file, most of the time, but not always, within around
the last 2000-4000 bytes, M is observed to be between about 20 and 4000):

seek(N)
read(buffer, 4096)
seek(N+1)
read(buffer, 4096)
.
.
.
seek(N+M, 4096)

LibreOffice will SOMETIMES do this anywhere in the file, even several times in
different places, and even repeatedly in the same spot, but it will ALWAYS do
this with the last 2000-4000 bytes. Like this, the opening of a 12K file
produces around the same amount of file operations a 8-16 MB file would require
if loaded with a sequence of single, non-redundant 4K-reads. The main impact
seems to be the amount of system calls, NOT the amount of data returned (I
tried actually returning only 1 byte per read() call, the file took roughly the
same time to load).

I confirmed this behaviour of LibreOffice (versions 3 and 4) file (both ODS and
ODT) opening operations for Win7 Pro (64bit) and Win XP (32bit), both on
physical machines (Quadcore i5 with 4 GB RAM, SSD disks) as well as virtual
machines (KVM 1.2 on top of Gentoo Linux 64bit, virtio drivers installed in
guests). I did NOT check the Linux binaries, but since the file operation speed
of LibreOffice is comparably slow on Linux as it is on Windows, the assumption
is here that - at least to some degree - the same or similar situation applies
to Linux installations.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 70225] New: Recovery: Confusing UI for deleted files

2013-10-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70225

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 70225
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Recovery: Confusing UI for deleted files
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: dan...@fooishbar.org
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.2.3 rc
 Component: Libreoffice
   Product: LibreOffice

I often open LibreOffice files directly from Evolution, which puts them in a
temporary directory which is purged after reboot. On an unclean shutdown,
LibreOffice recovery will trigger. I then walk through the following steps:
  * Recovery! Would you like to recover your files? [Start recovery →]
  * Warning dialog: /home/daniels/.cache/evolution/tmp/foo.xls does not exist.
[OK]
  * Question dialog: Document file foo.xls is locked for editing by: Unknown
user. Open document read-only or open a copy for editing. [Open Read-only]
[Open Copy] [Cancel]

Both 'open' options obviously fail since the file has been obliterated. Seems
like recovery should detect this case and present a slightly less confusing UI.

I'm on Fedora 20, though this doesn't really seem distro-specific.

It's not just an OOo to Lo upgrade problem.
The system: Win7 with MS Office 2010 and LibreOffice 4.0
- LO 4.0 uninstall, restart, LO 4.1 install. During the installation LO does
not set as default for MS documents and after the installation you cannot
associate LO with MS documents.

LO 4.1 uninstall, restart, LO 4.1 intall with MS ducument association and it
works. LO 4.1 uninstall, restart, LO 4.1 install without association and again,
you cannot associate with MS documents, so uninstall again and delete
everything from registry which contains libreoffice, scalc, etc. After the
installation, you can associate with MS documents.

So it seems it does not matter which version you had before, if you intall LO
4.1 without MS document association, you cannot associate or open with LO
later.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 70217] Add Karakalpak language to LibreOffice [kaa-UZ]

2013-10-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon

I'm confused about what rubbish languages means. Is there some basis for
this term, or is Urmas just trolling this bug?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 34467] FORMATTING Fit to Frame for text boxes is broken

2013-10-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34467

There is a change in behavior when I tested this under 4.1.2 (might have been
in all 4.1.X to date, I am not sure). It is still broken for creating any new
text box with fit to frame selected. And you can see this still in the last
two boxes on the sample document. They will only shrink the text
proportionally and only if you make the box really small. But it will never
enlarge the text, nor scale it disproportionally like it is supposed to do.

But text boxes with fit to frame that were created in OpenOffice 3.4.2 or prior
seem to be working properly now. This can be seen in the correct behavior of
the top two text boxes in the sample document. I can even select and copy one
of the older text boxes that is working, and the copied one works too.

Very strange.

(In reply to comment #1)
 something must to
be done to prevent filling the text language dropdown

This is a valid concern, that needs serious consideration given there are about
7000 languages in the world (cf. http://www.ethnologue.com - 7.105 languages
registered).

All of these languages have an equal right to use an open-source desktop suite
such as LibreOffice - isn't that what open source is all about?

 with such rubbish
 languages

This looks like rubbish language - I don't think you are serious. If you are,
please follow up the questions for clarification.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 70228] New: Impress becomes unresponsive during file save

2013-10-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70228

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 70228
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Impress becomes unresponsive during file save
  Severity: major
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: rhodyr...@gmail.com
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Presentation
   Product: LibreOffice

I am using LibreOffice Impress Version: 4.1.1.2 I have used this suite of
product for years. In recent months I have had issues with saving of files
created with Impress. It does not happen all the time and I cannot find any
reason why it should happen more with some files than with others. What happens
is that I have a presentation that I have created or modified that I wish to
change, or in some cases I simply have opened an existing presentation and I
want to save it under a different name. The save process starts but it does not
complete. Impress becomes unresponsive. I've waited over 5 minutes for the
process to complete but it doesn't. At that point, I have to terminate Impress.
When I reload it offers to recover the original file. Sometimes it will recover
it, sometimes not. It's really a pain. This was not happening to me earlier in
the year but has happened repeatedly lately. I believe it is a bug that has
developed with version 4 of the program.

2013-10-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43938

Still broken in LO 4.1.2.3 as tested under RHEL 6 and plain vanilla 64bit LO.

It is marked as a regression but I would like to know which parts of the bug
are planned to be fixed- there are two. One is that the line color is
unnamed/invalid. But the other part is that it is blue instead of black. I
would hate to see someone fix it so that the color selected is a named color,
but remains blue.

In all old versions of OO and LO, the default Draw line color is black, and I
think it should remain that way. Why would someone want to draw lines in blue?
It seems like an unreasonable default.

there are still some corner cases that need to sort out, namingly:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 70231] New: UI: double click fails to resize column

2013-10-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70231

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 70231
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: UI: double click fails to resize column
  Severity: minor
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: lo_b...@iseries-guru.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.0.0.alpha0+ Master
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Calc no longer lets you resize a column by double-clicking on the
right edge of the column header. This looks like a reappearance of
bug 39909 EDITING: Double Click Doesn't Resize Columns, which was
reported on 2011-08-07 and RESOLVED WORKSFORME on 2012-10-14. More
specifically:

(1) Create a new worksheet. Cell A1 is selected.

(2) Type The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The caret is
visually in the area of cell D1, but the cell address in the
formula toolbar still shows A1.

(3) Type tab. Cell B1 is selected; the sentence you typed is still
visible along row 1.

(4) Type x. Cell A1 shows The quick bro, cell B1 shows x, and
over the lazy dog spreads over C1 and into D1.

(5) Type return. Cell A2 is selected, and cells C1 and D1 are
blank.

(6) Move the mouse cursor over the right edge of the column header for
column A. The cursor changes to a double-headed left-right arrow.

(7) Double-click.

Program action expected : to make column A wide enough to show the
whole sentence, moving columns B and following to the right.

Program action observed : Column A remains the same width it was
previously.

For comparison, Optimal Column Width... from the pop-up menu of the
column heading continues to work as I expect it to, and double-click
resize still works in the Base's Table Data View.
