[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 74070] New: Autocorrect Replacement Table: same size for 'Replace' and 'With' fields

2014-01-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74070

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 74070
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
   Summary: Autocorrect Replacement Table: same size for 'Replace'
and 'With' fields
  Severity: enhancement
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: ba...@quipo.it
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: Inherited From OOo
 Component: UI
   Product: LibreOffice

Tools/Autocorrect options/Replace

from the OOo era the UI of the replacement table has always had a different
width of the 'Replace' and 'With' fields, the 'Replace' field being much
shorted than the 'With' field.

see attachment 82595

I would enlarge the width of the Replace field to make it at least long as
the with. IMHO there's no advantage in this asimmetry: they should have the
same size.

this is a spin-off of Bug 67040 which is about allowing manual resize of the
entire replacement table.

the current request is different and it's about changing the static width of
'Replace' 'With' fields which is actually asimmetric.

I add UI expert to CC list.

@Kendy
is this something you can take a look?

Confirmed with version 4.2.0.3.0+ Build ID:
b09fae12aaae3519559a1915d258525b5fbcfbca (2 commits after RC3) on Ubuntu 13.10
x86-64
With this version the first time I modify the cell D4, I need to hit
ctrl+maj+F9 to force to update the dependent cells. But if I modify again the
value in D4, the update is automatic.

Same behavior with master (Version: 4.3.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID:
574773ac298153b97237b3432b601a83938eaf6b)

With both versions, if the first thing I do when the file is loaded is to hit
ctrl+maj+F9, then further recalculations are automatic.

Best regards. JBF

Thank you Christopher for your feedback.

Caolán/Michael: I noticed that in the file
vcl/source/filter/jpeg/JpegReader.cxx, if the 2 following checks are removed,
the image displays:
236 sal_uInt64 nSize = aSize.Width();
237 nSize *= aSize.Height();
238 /*
239 if (nSize  SAL_MAX_INT32 / 24)
240 return NULL;
241 */

243 // Check if the bitmap is untypically large.
244 /*
245 if (nSize*(bGray?1:3)  MAX_BITMAP_BYTE_SIZE)
246 {
247 // Do not try to acquire resources for the large bitmap or to
248 // read the bitmap into memory.
249 return NULL;
250 }
251 */

(see
http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/vcl/source/filter/jpeg/JpegReader.cxx#235)
The problem is, even once the image is loaded, each time I scroll, Writer
almost freezes and cpu is at 100%

Any idea?

   Summary: Other: LibreOffice uses too much memory (RAM)
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: eng.georgigeorg...@gmail.com

task manager screen shot

Problem description:
LibreOffice uses about 7-10 times more memory (RAM) compared to Microsoft
Office 2003.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Run LibreOffice (Writer for example)- empty doc
2. Run Word 2003 - empty doc

Current behavior:
LibreOffice needs ~100MB RAM, while Word 2003 needs only ~15MB RAM.

Expected behavior:
Expected is to use less memory, on some old machines this influence the
start-up and performance a lot.

Operating System: Windows XP

I reproduce the problem (wordlist truncated in auto-correction configuration

This bug affects only Impress/Draw and Calc modules but not Writer.

Set status to NEW. Added UI and .ui expert in cc.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 74075] New: Strange Error when using INDEX and MATCH

Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: s...@siegesmund.no
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.3.2 release
 Component: Libreoffice
   Product: LibreOffice

I have a spreadsheet (made in Excel 2013, but I have made the sheet from
scratch in LO just to try) and i seems there is a strange error when LO handles
these functions.

I have a list (Letters in alphabet) in one coloum and a number next to it (a =
1, b = 2 etc, c = 3..) And I am using this function to call the number,
depending on what letters is inputted.

=IF(D1=,,INDEX($DATA.$B$1:$B$39,MATCH($PASSWORD.B5,$DATA.$A$1:$A$39)))

All letters UPTO s is fine, however all letters from this point gives an NA
value for a reason I cannot explain.

Me being silly or an actual bug?

Thanks!

Libreoffice is a monolithic software package, so it is expected to take up more
memory.

Also, Libreoffice is positioning itself as an alternative to the latest
commercial office software, so compatibility with legacy hardware is not a
priority.

 Component: Presentation
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:
If the image resolution is set to 1024x768, the images are exported as 800x600
instead of 1024x768

I've found this mentioned in the following forum, too:
http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=151884

Steps to reproduce:
1. open a presentation
2. choose File - Export and change the type to html document
3. continue until you get to the dialog where you can change the output
resolution
4. there are three options available: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, select
1024x768
5. after finishing the export, observe that the output images are in 800x600
resolution.

Current behavior:
Image resolution is 800x600

Expected behavior:
Image resolution is 1027x768

 New problem. When I printed the sheet of return address labels, it showed
 them looking good but it actually printed them about a 1/4 too high wasting
 a page of Avery labels. Why didn't they line up properly?

The label's size and positioning that LibreOffice uses can be read in the label
wizard. These dimensions are from the data supplied by Avery. I just checked
and the vertical dimensions differ less than 0.1mm.
Misalignment on paper can be caused by (in random order):
-modified dimensions in  the label wizard before creating the label sheet;
-modified page settings in Writer;
-printer settings that cannot be combined with the label sheet (e.g. minimum
top or left margin of printer is larger than in label sheet);
-different paper size (Avery 5267 is letter size);
-different labels (i.e. not Avery 5267);
-etcetera.

All of the above causes are not bugs. This is a bug report.
I you need help to solve your problem, I suggest you put your problem to a user
mailing list for LibreOffice
(for more information see http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/ ).

Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.4.2 release

   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description: The program repeatedly greys out then becomes active, then
again greys out ect. This happens repeatedly.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Set 'save auto recovery information' to every 1 minute (from the settings
menu [Load/Save]) + with 'automatically save the document'
2. open a new spreadsheet without saving it
3. continue to use/input data into the spreadsheet where ever at your will
4. after the 1 minute is up, the program will produce a cycle of grey outs (I
think its because it doesn't know where to save)

+ (on a separate note, once a comment has been inserted into a cell, and then
when I try to hover over it.. it shows an empty comment box.

Current behaviour: Program goes in to a grey out cycle for a while

Expected behaviour: Asks user to choose a save destination so it doesn't
misbehave due to it not knowing what to do with the document without a save
location.

If you want chart a F(t) function where the abscissa are in a column and the
ordinate in another, you _must_ use XY (Scatter) type. Line type is intended
for one list of values used as ordinates, the abscissa being the line number
(first value, second value, etc.).

So closing as NotABug.

Bug 74047 and this bug are indeed 'related', but not duplicate (=not the same)

In bug 74047 a file is created every x minutes (depending on the auto-recovery
setting)

This bug is related to the problem of auto-recovery files created constantly
(lots of files per minute, depending on the speed of your hard-drive ;)

To manage your bibliography databases, you should use an external tool like
Zotero (free and open-source).

Since several years ago, nobody want to work on an improvement of the
bibliography tool. In the old time of OpenOffice.org, the project was to remove
this internal tool and to connect to Zotero. But nothing has been done.

So I think it is not a good idea to wait for an improvement of the internal
bibliography tool.

Feel free to reopen if you know somebody who plan to work on this.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 59884] FILEOPEN: Crash when opening a particular docx file with an image

2014-01-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59884

--- Comment #13 from Alexandr alexpik...@gmail.com ---
Hello, Jacques

 @Alexandr: If you change in the last paragraph of small_example.docx the
 inferior number 4 in CH4 to normal position, your file will open correctly
 in LO 4.2.0.2. There's no longer crash. But you have now a new paragraph in
 LO with a page field. Perhaps this can not be verified if the end paragraph
 is left in inferior position and contain a field, but I am not sure.

Yes, I tried some manipulations with this string in MS Word 2010. Sometimes it
led to document which does not cause the crash. But it is not easy to
reproduce.

This versions of the document, which does not crash LibreOffice 4.1 – 4.2, have
the picture visible in LibreOffice 3.5.4. It means that the original problem
with the image and the crash have the same reason.

  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified

one of the cvs file that fail to synchronize

When in calc I do Insert - link to external data, I can open a csv file, and
get a Text Import window, in which I can see the content of the file. When I
click on OK, the External data windows show the file name with its path, but
nothing is available and the OK button does not work.

This make calc absolutely unusable, as I cannot even import my data. If I
import the same files with File - Open, it work, but the data are not
synchronized, which is not what I want to do.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69244] Other: Recalculate does not always work if formula link to other sheets

2014-01-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69244

--- Comment #14 from Laurent BP jumbo4...@yahoo.fr ---
A workaround is to set option: Tools Option LibreOffice Calc Formula:
Recalculation on file load, ODF Spreadsheet (not saved by LibreOffice)
to Always recalculate. Actually, recalculation is operated even if the file
has been saved by LibreOffice.

But the bug is not there. Under LibO 4.0, this option was set to default as
Always recalculate. But if you change this option to Never recalculate,
there is no bug: values are correctly calculated.

With LibO 4.1.0.beta1, option is set to Never recalculate as default, and
there is no bug: values are correctly calculated.

With LibO 4.1.0.beta2, option is the same, but values are not recalculated. If
you set option to Always recalculate, then the bug does not appear (it is
just like typing Ctrl+Shift+F9 when opening file).
