[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67903] Print dialog preview in Draw does not update with paper size change

2014-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67903

--- Comment #14 from Daniel Passos daniel.pas...@kanaan.org ---
(In reply to comment #11)
Wait - the description of the bug says print dialog preview not printing
itself. Can you clarify if I'm mistaking or if the title is not accurate?
 Also, is this a regression?

It is correct that the description speaks only of the print dialog. But just
like Karl Relton, we are experiencing not only a bug on the print dialog
preview, but in the printing as well. You ask if this is a regression. It sort
of seems that way to us, but we have very little experience with bug
reporting...

tmacalp writes that this bug is also affecting Impress, and Karl confirms the
bug on calc/writer.

Should we, in that case, create a new bug report, or should this bug report be
expanded/modified?

Created attachment 94803
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=94803action=edit
Implementing add color

LO has a named list of colors that can be used as fill / stroke colors for all
objects. A new color can be added through Tools Options Color.

However if I open a document (say a ppt) which has objects with colors not
added to LO, I cannot save that color to the list of colors. The only way to
use it is to use the copy format tool, won't be so convenient because it will
change all formatting along with fill color.

Observation
On selecting an object who's fill / stroke colors are not added, the respective
color picker drop down list on the menu bar automatically adds a new icon (with
the selected object color) with an empty bracket pair '[]'.

New Feature Required
Provision to add the selected object's fill / stroke color on selecting it in
the color selection drop down list in the menu bar.

Clicking this button, I would hope to get to some overview over the different

The new Start Center has an Extensions button in its bottom left.

The behavior of this button was never specified, so the new implementation
follows the old one in this regard: it opens the extensions website.

To me, it would make more sense to open the Extension Manager window instead
which shows all installed extensions and also has a prominent link to the
extensions website.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 75554] VIEWING: Caused Xorg 100% CPU and the whole GUI hanged

2014-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75554

--- Comment #6 from Michael Meeks michael.me...@collabora.com ---
So - it is not abnormal that certain documents happen to trigger obscure
corner-cases that cause problems; all software has this issue - though the
corner-cases often differ.

Things that would help here (apart from bibisecting which would be cool) would
be to chop down the document to a minimal document that reproduces the same
problem: ie. as few pages as possible, and as few text frames / OLE objects
etc. That helps us build a nice regression test case for this too for the
future as well as making it much easier to diagnose the problem.

It is unusual though that X hangs; it would be great to get a stack trace (with
debugging symbols) of LibreOffice while that is going on, I guess we're stuck
rendering something at some length; it'd be good to find out what that is. To
get that - its good to ssh in from a remote host, run gdb and 'attach pid'
where pid is $ pidof soffice.bin

Thanks ! =)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 38171] During Install Ask if Install in Parallel or Upgrade

2014-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38171

--- Comment #22 from Petr Mladek pmla...@suse.cz ---
I am a bit confused by the comment #18.

AFAIK, only the minor releases are installed in parallel on Linux. For example
4.1.0.4 is installed in parallel with 4.0.5.2. By other words, LO 4.1 is
installed in parallel with LO 4.0.

On the other hand, any bugfix release replaces an older release of the same
minor version. For example, 4.1.1.2 should replace 4.1.0.4 on Linux. By other
words, an LO 4.1 bugifx release replaces any older 4.1 release.

This is caused by the fact that the package names include the minor version,
e.g. libobasis4.1-writer.
Also the menu entries include the minor version, e.g. 4.1.

BTW: I wonder what Linux distribution the customers use and why they could not
use the LibreOffice packages provided by the given Linux distribution. It would
most likely solve the problems with updates. Also the distribution specific
builds might have more features, e.g. KDE4 integration.

Status: UNCONFIRMED

 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

When I select a whole column in Calc and copy it, LibreOffice crashes if I try
to paste it as formated text (rtf) in Writer.

Crash means: LO does not respond anymore, the CPU goes to 100%, and the RAM
fills up slowly for some minutes(on my computer from 300 MB to 1600 MB), then
soffice.bin just disappears...

First I thought it just means, that LO is looking through all possible rows if
there is some data somewhere, and that might take some time. I tried this with
the newest version of LO (in German), with LO 3.6, and with OpenOffice 4.0.1 -
same behaviour!

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start calc and enter just one number in the first field, e.g. just a single
plain 1.

2. Select the whole column: click on the header so that the whole column is
highlighted.

3. Go to Writer and try to paste the data as formated text rtf

Current behavior:

LO crashes.

Expected behavior:

Data is pasted as a new table.

  Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED

 Component: UI
   Product: LibreOffice

Copying blocks from draw to writer put legend anchor in a wrong position.

How to reproduce the problem:

 - open draw
 - create a _multiple_ object (with just one legend the problem is
not so terrible since anchoring is wrong but is still editable)
for example a box plus a legend
 - select all the objects
 - copy
 - open writer
 - paste
 - the pasted block will have the legend anchor _outside_ the block,
not editable and in a wrong position.

workaround: always paste legends as single objects and not in a compound block
and then fix the anchor position at will.

Verified on LibO 4.2.1.1 Linux and Windows XP it is just the same.

The msgbox statement shows an empty string. Nor is the text property updated
after the Dlg.execute() statement. The text property is only updated if the
user enters something manually in the Date control.

NB : I also tried this with a numeric field, in this case updating the value
property causes the text property to be updated immediately.

I get the feeling that this issue has to do with the way Libreoffice is
interacting with libglamor (2D acceleration) on Linux for the newer Radeon
cards. Also it should be noted that libglamor is not as performant yet and the
problem I describe could be just Libreoffice hitting a part of the driver that
is not yet well optimised. I am comfortable for this bug to be closed unless
someone else experiences the same problem on a different system setup.

Possibly, in time, the Math equation editor can be equipped with a WYSIWYG

Please note that the problem is in the label anchor. You see it even pasting
just one label.

Other (better) workaround:

 - in libo write...
 - select the block
 - mouse dx button and un-block the objects
 - select label
 - fix the label anchor position
 - select all the objects
 - group all the objects

done!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 75570] New: CONFIGURATION: Space oCheck on custom install preventing install of libreoffice.

2014-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75570

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 75570
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: CONFIGURATION: Space oCheck on custom install
preventing install of libreoffice.
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: sunnyday...@googlemail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.0.4 release
 Component: Installation
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description: The space check on custom install is preventing
installation of libreoffice where an install location has been selected that is
on a partition accessed through a volume mount folder.

The space check is calculating the requirement for 868MB of space on the C
partition and not on the volume mount folder partition.

The C partition does not have this amount of freespace while the Volume mount
folder partition has 1.5GB of freespace.

Custom install location is off the type c:\volume mount folder\libreoffice.

An install of libreoffice to a volume mount folder partition on a test system
worked susccesfully and Libreoffice worked correctly from this install
location. In this case there was 1GB+ of freespace on the C partition.

The 868MB space requirement is incorrect as on the test system only
approximately 360MB of space was required.

The space check incorrectly checking space on the C partition and not on the
the volume mount folder partition.

Suggestions for correcting this are:-
1) make the space check optional

2) give an option to continue with the install if the space check detects
insufficient space.

3) make the install check the install path for Volume mount folders and check
the volume mount folder partition for space and not the C partition.

4) Correct the calculation for the space requirement. A requirement of 868MB is
also given on the typical install

The file system is NTFS.

Steps to reproduce:
1. create partition
2. create volume mount folder on C partition to this partition.
3. fill up C partition until less than 500MB freespace.
4) launch install
5) select custom install
6) change install path to volume mount folder partition location
7) select next

Current behavior:
space check shows insufficent space on the C partition.

Expected behavior:
should check the volume mount folder partition for space and not the C
partition.

The font of characters directly before and after these characters was Times New
Roman. The font of a lof of them varied to Times New Roman by itself. I
repaired the document with Find and Replace (by the way, this function is
absolutely bad), and directly typeing characters at some characters. After some
minutes, the font of some repaired character become Times New Roman by itself
newly. At this charcters, I did the repairing with typeing directly, not with
Find and Replace. This can cause data loss, so this is big error (for example,
I installed OpenOffice 4.0.1 immediately).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 38835] strip out non-trivial globals before main

2014-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38835

--- Comment #6 from Jan Holesovsky ke...@collabora.com ---
Let me add some more information to this Easy Hack, as it would be really quite
useful to improve the situation :-)

The simplest way to find global statics is like:

git grep '^static[^(]*$' -- *.cxx

and look after those that define a global variable of a more complex type (ie.
skip the OUStrings / bools / ints for now).

Then as the first thing, try to make it non-global if it is possible, like
here:

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=92bede3900e84d4f08efb81757ec95c518c7fa76

because that way this will get initialized when used for the first time. If
that is not possible, or not practical, then you can do what is suggested in
the initial comment. An example can be seen in this commit:

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=020e29fb95d742b160feab1df6751e59d4108239

Hope that helps :-)

2014-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75573

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 75573
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: VIEWING: Writer inserts an unwanted page break before
a text frame
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: vincent.boss...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.1.1 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 94816
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=94816action=edit
The archive contains a docx file produced with MS Word 2007 and the
corresponding PDF file.

Writer inserts an unwanted page break before a text frame that is supposed to
lie at bottom of page one.

How to reproduce:

The attached unwanted_page_break.docx document (MS Office 2007) contains a page
on which you will find a paragraph on top and a text frame at bottom. MS Word
displays and prints both texts on the same page, as seen in the attached
unwanted_page_break.pdf file. This file has been generated from MS Word 2007.

Writer 4.2.1.1 places the text frame at the top of a new page and shows a page
break between pages 1 and 2. Writer 4.1.3.2 shows the same problem.

Current behavior:

The text frame is at top of page 2.

Expected behavior:

The text frame is at bottom of page 1.

Operating System: Ubuntu
Version: 4.2.1.1 release

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67903] Print dialog preview in Draw does not update with paper size change

2014-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67903

(In reply to comment #14)

It is correct that the description speaks only of the print dialog. But just
like Karl Relton, we are experiencing not only a bug on the print dialog
preview, but in the printing as well. You ask if this is a regression. It
sort of seems that way to us, but we have very little experience with bug
 reporting...

Should we, in that case, create a new bug report, or should this bug report
 be expanded/modified?

I just tested this in LO 4.2.0.4 Linux and there really is problem like you
reported... Indeed the bug I originally reported is still valid. When inside
the print dialog and you change paper sizes, it does not update the preview.
But it seems it also does NOT change the printed paper size either!

Steps to reproduce:

1) Start a Draw document.
2) Draw a square in the upper right corner (just for reference)
3) File- Print (You should see Letter if US is your default)
4) Properties- Paper size, change to Legal
5) After you click on OK note it doesn't change the preview
6) Click on OK to print the document and it will print on Letter NOT LEGAL
7) Do File-Print again and note it is NOW showing Legal
8) Click on OK to print and this time it will print on Legal paper.

Just verified the problem is the same in LO 4.1.4.2 and LO 4.1.0.4 (Linux).
Neither problem exists in LO 4.0.2.2 (I just verified). So it seems I didn't
report the full problem originally, it is not a new regression (it is an old
regression from 4.0.X to 4.1.0).

The bug summary is still correct, but I wish I could edit the original bug
report post with this new/additional info because it does change the scope
somewhat. I don't see the need for a new bug report at this time.

No need to open many reports for the same bug affecting many components:) No
worries about not knowing if it's a regression - just was wondering if you ever
noticed that it worked (in an older version) but not knowing is not a big deal
as we can attempt to bibisect to find out.

Petr - I pointed out something similar. It sounds like the original reporter
wants all users to have latest and greatest as soon as it comes out and that
users who want the latest and greatest don't know how to uninstall things in
Linux - I disagree with this (for two reasons) but still valid as enhancement
yes?

Or... it may be related to the fact that the help package is not installed on
my computer. Please try uninstalling the help package to reproduce.

So, Foss's screenshot from comment 4 shows that there is (or may be)
documentation, but apparently it is not synchronised to the wiki help. (Also,
the documentation Foss screenshotted seems to be written for 4.1 and below.)

Reproducible with LO 3.6.0.4 and later, including 4.2.1.1 under Win7x64.
NOT reproducible with 3.5.7.2 and earlier - regression.

Timur, I noted that you have set the version to 3.5.0, but I cannot reproduce
it there. Are you sure that you saw this problem with that version? If so,
please set the version back.

Infos from Data::Dumper and debug patch.

I'm currently building master and 4.1 with many languages, help and
dictionaries and creating Debian packages.

I see many perl errors for particular packages like:

Use of uninitialized value $value in lc at
/home/jan-marek.glogowski/Development/libreoffice/branch-4-1/solenv/bin/modules/installer/packagelist.pm
line 442.

I dumped the Perl hash, which has an undefined value in 'PRODUCTADDON'.
Probably it's fine to ignore all undef values and do a

next if (! defined $value);

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 38171] During Install Ask if Install in Parallel or Upgrade

2014-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38171

--- Comment #24 from Petr Mladek pmla...@suse.cz ---
Hint: One possibility would be to remove the version from the package names but
keep them in the filenames. Then people could install more versions in parallel
using rpm -i and update to the latest version using rpm -U.

Note that rpm -U currently updates the package only of the same minor
version, e.g 4.1.0.4 to 4.1.1.2. It does not update 4.1.0.4 to 4.2.0.4 because
the package names are different and rpm tool does not know that they are
related.

The piece of regression fixed in this version:
 LibreOfficeDev-4.2.3.0.0+ (Build ID: 4274001144adeb0b0a1e7da05d52c1bedbe899e5,
 TinderBox: Win-x86@42, Branch: libreoffice-4-2, Time: 2014-02-27_08:31:36).

Now Writer shows the first eleven pages of the RTF file (see URL in the comment
1), the same as the DOC file (see bug 74356).
But
 if you made these actions:
opened ODT file (see comment 7; attachment 94633)
and saved this ODT file as RTF format (size ~224 MB),
then Writer (e.g. Writer_4.2.1.1,_4.0.6) opens new RTF file is fine and shows
all contents of all pages.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 75574] PRINTING: Picture of type EMF in .DOC not printed correctly on Windows

2014-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75574

--- Comment #2 from Mike Kaganski mikekagan...@hotmail.com ---
Created attachment 94830
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=94830action=edit
Screenshots, PDFs and EMF

Attached are screenshots, printed PDFs and exported PDFs of the bugdoc from
attachment 76865. Also, the EMF was extracted from the bugdoc, and included in
the attachment as well.

As may be seen, v.3.5.7.2 shows print preview, prints and exports the file OK.
Worth noting is that both generated PDFs contain the EMF data as text.

Starting with 3.6.0.4, print preview shows incorrect picture. Both printed PDF
and exported PDF are wrong, but differently. Printed PDF has proper page size,
while exported has wrong page size and more closely match the pront preview
image. Also note that both PDFs contain raster image for the EMF (exported
version image is larger than the page size). Operating the file is very slow,
be it printing, exporting or zooming. Also notable that zooming causes parts of
the text to disappear, just as on the printout. To see this, you may zoom to
~800% centering to colored line close to right margin.

Starting with 4.0.0.1, distortion changes (more text disappears). Slow
operation and disappearing text on zoom are present, too.

The attached EMF (that was extracted from the .doc) may be opened with Draw.
Then it will show the same problems, i.e. slow operation, disappearing of text,
and wrong printing/exporting, with the same versions.

Also I tested the .doc with 4.2.1.1 under Ubuntu. There I cannot reproduce
distorted print/export, nor disappearing text on zoom, but operation is still
very slow.

2014-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67449

--- Comment #22 from Peter Sewell peter_sew...@ntlworld.com ---
As far as I can see (as I don't know anything about the way Libreoffice is
written) this problem only affects Libreoffice Printing - but it caused by
updating the HPLIP to the latest versions - which as in comment 18 explains
that when the update is done to the latest HPLIP it removes one very important
file.

So it looks like it's a problem with HPLIP but as someone else has suggested
it's the way that Libreoffice calls the printing that mine be addressing the
wrong code, as it only started affecting Libreoffice since version 4.1.

My printing is now working absolutely fine as I haven't updated the HPLIP
software. But I wonder what will happen when ubuntu 14.04 comes out within the
next few months!

Confirmed under Windows XP using LO 4.1.5.3 and 4.2.1.1

Exporting to PDF/A-1a ALWAYS shows message even if it doesn't make ANY sense
(e.g. when creating a PDF from a plain text document)

IMO showing a wrong error message (because it doesn't apply) is a bug.

That last comment again makes me think not our bug. So we call on HP code and
the HP code is poorly written - that really is not our problem from what I can
see. It most definitely is not LibreOffice's job to screw up our own code in
order to handle other bad code. But I'll refrain from further comment and let a
developer confirm/close/etc . . .
